~BROWNIE GIRL SCOUTS and MY AMAZING MOTHER~

~BROWNIE TROOP 106~
Hacienda Heights, California
March 31, 1965

Today I'm going to take you all back to when I was a little kid and do a little bit o' braggin' about my Momma!  OK?

I was six years old when the picture at the top was taken and even though over 45 years have passed since it was snapped I still remember thinking my Momma
Hung The Moon!
You wanna talk about crazeeeeee-talented???
My mother was truly before her time!
~REBECCA WITH HER LOVELY TEETH~
(Nothing 5 years of braces couldn't fix!)

Back in 1965 she was the Girl Scout Co-Leader for Brownie Troop 106 and I promise you...somehow she was ALWAYS finding a way to get her girls (and whatever they were involved in!) in the newspaper!
She was a master at getting
FREE ADVERTISING and Press
for not only Girl Scouts, but for
Bixby Elementary School's PTA, too!
(I think she was shameless and soooo very BOLD!)
  ~BEAUTIFUL MOM in 1965~

You soooo totally ROCKED, Mom!
(Even then I somehow knew you did...)
MY BIG SISTER, LINDA
(I'm not sure she was having a good day!)

When I was too young to qualify to be a Brownie my Mother and Auntie fashioned what they called "Pixie" outfits for me and my cousin.  They didn't want us to feel like we were being left out of the fun since we both had older sisters in the Troop!  I suppose it was OK since they were
the LEADERS and were
DOING LOTS OF STUFF FOR FREE! :)
~CHRISTMAS CAROLING ARTICLE 1963~
(Gosh...my name was ALWAYS last!)

Today I'm so grateful for all the time and effort my Mother put into raising her children.  She exposed us to so much and it was almost always done
on a very thin dime!

 ~NEWSPAPER ARTICLE FROM 1964~
~MY BEAUTIFUL MOMMA and AUNTIE P~
(Sign was Hand painted by my Grandfather)
Auntie on left, Mom 2nd from right

It is truly because of her and all the things she taught me during my growing-up years (and beyond) that I'm able to do what I love today.
 ~MY MOTHER and I in 1959~

I know I've shown you the photo above before...but it's the only one in existence of my Mother holding me
as a baby...

It means MORE to me than I can say!
 ~MY MOTHER and I TODAY~
Our Only Professional Picture Ever Taken

Except for some candid snapshots, I've never had a professional picture taken of my mother and I alone.  A few weeks ago we had this one made of just the two of us.  As usual my mother is radiant!
I'm just THRILLED my eyes weren't shut (don't ask!).

"A rendezvous
Which two hearts keep
Beyond
All time, aware
In joy or sorrow
One may come
And find the other
There"
 Mary Wheeler Edgerton

(NO SPECIAL OCCASION, MOM!  JUST WANTED YOU TO KNOW I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!)

Hope you all have a fabuloso Friday!  I'm going junkin' and slummin'!!!

PS:  My Mr. AGPMan just got his first test back!  He aced it!  But then...I knew he would!  Whoot!  Whoot!

Love to you...

Wonderful photos Rebecca. I was a brownie in the 70's and still have my brownie pin that my mom saved. Gorgeous picture of you and your mom. She certainly was a go-getter. God Bless you both, Tammy

What a beautiful tribute to your mom. We do take our mom's for granted especially those of us with the special moms. I guess we just figure 'all' moms are that way - it's their job. But I now know that some mom's are extra special....I know my mom was. It is amazing what they did with so little and in the face of adversity. I wish I could sometime be more like my mom -- she has a presence, she had class. Not like me....just blurting out, ranting and raving....for today, I will try to have a 'presence' and not be a maniac with no unexpressed emotions. Thank you for the lovely tribute.

Well first of all, yeah for hubby!! Way to go!
Your portrait with your mom is so pretty...glad you did that. My mom has been gone almost 30 years! You are so blessed to have her still to enjoy your family...
and...I have so many pics with closed eyes...for me, it is the flash with my contacts in...I have tried so many tricks not to do it, and sometimes they work...but most the time, nope!
Have fun junking and slummin'. I wish I had a car to do that today, although, I don't think it would be much fun in 110 degrees!! Find something fun!

It's always the right moment to tell those special people in our lives what how we feel. What a wonderful tribute to your sweet, pretty mother.
Also thanks for your sweet comments about my latest. Great cubby makeover as well.

What a wonderful story of your dear Mother and you. You are both very beautiful women. It is a wonderful blessing to have such a special relationship with our precious mothers. I know that God blessed me to be born to such a precious and loving mother too.

Ahhh, how beautiful!! And I just saw where your Momma posted a comment too! Brought tears to my eyes!

You both are radiantly beautiful!!!

I, too, remember fun days in the Brownies...same year, I believe! The pictures of the mother's clothes in those clipping brings happy memories of the "happy housewives" when I was growing up with my dear Momma included!! :) They always wore their pretty dresses...even on just an ordinary day! My mom made all of her pretty dresses and I was always so proud of the way she looked because of being such a great seamstress! And the cool thing was that all the mothers of my friends and neighbors were stay-at-home moms!! It was rare to have any mother working outside the home in those days! Such awesome memories!

Congrats to Mr AGPman!

I loved the pictures of you and your mom from when you were a baby until the most recent studio portrait.
You are both so beautiful....and share
such a loving relationship.
Thinking back,I do not have many pics at all of me with my mother either....but I cherish the ones I do have...she and I had a close relation-
ship, too, and though she died at almost 92 in 2000, I still miss her every day.
Tell Mr.AGPMan I knew he would "ace"
his studies!! Congratulations to him!
He can do anything he sets his mind to, can't he??? Of course, with a wife
like you, I am sure he has wanted to "hang the moon" for you, too!!! And
I believe he has......hmmmnn???
You just have a ball "junking" and
"slumming" this weekend....it sounds like the most fun!! I wish I could join you!!
Love, Francy
