~VINTAGE SNOWMAN and a Makeover in the Works~

"I'M READY FOR MY MAKEOVER MR. DeMILLE"

Last week while jaunting about my town I found myself in my neighborhood ROSS STORE and found this amazing wooden SNOWMAN.  Now...I actually saw one exactly like it last year but it came into the store late in the Season (which is unusual) and so I passed on it.  I kicked myself for weeks afterward because although he looked truly amazing dressed in the traditional colors of the season I couldn't stop thinking about  refashioning him in a softer and lighter color palate.

Tisk...Tisk...  You snooze, You lose!

Also...I don't normally purchase decorative finds that are large in size because I hate storing them year after year.  But...when I saw Old Frosty make a second debut I didn't hesitate to snap him up.  Since my Mr. AGPMan and I did some intense cleaning and clearing out this past summer both our garage and attic are looking pretty fine...  Of course this made room for a FEW new treasures...
TRANSFORMATION is COMING

Over the weekend I spent some time giving Mr. Frosty Man a repaint.  I left the white of his chunky little snowman body in it's original condition opting to recolor his hat, gloves, scarf, vest and birdhouse...
TOTALLY CHARMING GUY

Now...I'm back in my studio today finishing up the painting and glittering of new Christmas Ornaments for my A Gathering Place Website.  I hope you'll pop back in tomorrow and view Frosty's Makeover.  If you love the softer side of Christmas, complete with sugar pinks and minty greens, then I think you might just LOVE his transformation!

I'm off to create!

Have a beautiful day~  Love to you...

  4. You are such a tease, Rebecca... where is YOUR version??? ;-)

He is going to be too cute. Can't wait to see. In the mean time, I hope you have a wonderful week. I am heading out in a few to go on a little trip. I didn't get your package in the mail last week because I felt bad ALL week long. I'm better now, but if I don't mail it before I leave to go, I will mail it after. As long as you are home, we're good to go!

    XOXOXO,

The March Hare (aka Mrs. Magpie)

  5. Hi Rebecca :) Thanks for stopping by; this was my son's last game for the season. Don't know yet if he will play for the Varsity team next year...he really loved playing this year so I'm thinking he most likely will next season. I can't wait to see how Mr. Snowman turns out with his makeover, but I know he will look FABULOUS!! Happy creating!!

    Warmest hugs, Brenda

  10. I know Mr. Frosty is going to look wonderful!! I LOVE glitter! The snowman also looks great!

I know what you mean by big. I once won a huge plush nutcracker and although the kids loved him, it was like storing a human being! lol!

    Have a good week, Rebecca!

    XO,
    Jane

  16. Hi Rebecca!

How is my favorite Oklahoma blogger friend? Your frosty friend is so cute but definitely needs a makeover. I am so excited to see what you do! I know it will be just gorgeous! I loved your post from yesterday about your daughter. By the time I finished it I was in tears. It was so beautiful and I could truly feel the love you have for that special girl. I hope you are well. I wish you blessings today and always! Love Tammy

  17. I have missed you!! With your blogging break and my own time constraints the past week, I don't think I've visited you in two weeks. Far too long to be away from your sweet-spirited blog.

Anyhow, that little Mr. DeMille quote, is rather like the ending quote from one of my favorite movies...Sunset Boulevard. (See, I can turn ANY conversation to classic movies!!)

Your snowman is very cute!! And I love Ross. It's my favorite store. Just Saturday I was there, and I got a great collection of leaf-shaped plates for $8...one large plate and 6 dessert-size plates. I can pretty much always find something to buy at Ross.

Anyhow, hope all is well and that you're having a lovely week.

    Love,
    Patti
