SHABBY CHIC SEWING and MORE Hand Painted Pink Roses

VINTAGE SEWING MACHINE COVER

Hello cottage lovin' friends! Do you remember my post for a couple months back (May 2nd) when I shared with you about finding this sweet vintage sewing machine cover in an antique shoppe in a neighboring town? I chatted about how I hadn't seen one in many years and even though it was painted with cheap black paint and sloppy purple roses I decided to bring it home with me. Well, I finally finished giving it a repaint and I couldn't wait to show it to you. I'm a tad bit crazy about nearly all vintage finds that are sewing related and I'm fortunate to have some sweet old treasures scattered about in my home...this darling old Cover is now my very favorite!

A couple weeks ago my Mr. AGPMan and I stopped at several antique stores and second hand shops to do some treasure shopping while traveling north. Guess what we found??? Yep! At least FOUR of these Covers and they were all in amazing condition! For years I didn't see even one and then within about 2 months (and without any effort) we discover five...

PERFECT FOR MY COTTAGE HOME

AFTER BASE PAINTING

I finally got around to painting my wonderful old find last weekend. I haven't decided where I going to put it yet, but I'm thinking about using it in a display above my TV Armoire (Cabinet). It is truly a charming piece and one I'm happy to keep...

Now...don't forget~ When you decide to refurbish vintage finds with paint, especially if they are wood, PRIME FIRST! Use Zinsser Primer which is available at Lowe's...it is fantastic!!!

For this Cover I first primed and then base painted using Behr Cottage White Paint from Home Depot (I LOVE THIS PAINT). Hand Painted Roses were added using acrylic Folk Art Craft Paint in several colors. Sealed with a hand-rubbed wax finish... DONE!

Blessings to you as you continue to discover new ways to display those treasured old finds...Rebecca
