~WITH LOVE...To The Most Talented Woman I Know~

~MY MOTHER & I~
Mother's Day 2009

Last Mother's Day I treated my mother to a lunch out at our favorite Mimi's Restaurant.  After Church today we will be dining together as an entire family and I'll be sure to tell you all about her reaction to the Sachet Pillow I'm gifting her in honor of her special day.

When I was a young girl I remember my Mother to be outgoing and fun.  She was heavily involved in my Father's Ministry (I'm a PK/Preacher's Kid), sang in our church choir and taught Sunday School for many years.  She was a perfectionist when it came to throwing a party and to this day gave the most elegant bridal and baby showers I've ever seen (and on a shoe-string budget).  She loved being involved in PTA, enjoyed being a Room Mother and remains one of the best graphic artists I've known.

Extremely talented and full of faith and love for the Most High, she taught all of her children (I'm the 2nd of 4) the same two things.  Simply put...there was nothing we could ever do that would cause her not to love us and that we could never fall so far from God that His never ending love could not reach us...

For this I'm most thankful.

Life threw my Mother a curve ball when she began experiencing Nerve Deafness when still a young wife and mother.  This has greatly affected her social life as it became extremely difficult for her communicate with a hearing world.  I've watched her handle her affliction with dignity and grace...  I know at times it must be devastating for her and yet she never complains.

She is strong beyond words.
At present my Mother spends most of her days visiting with the love of her life, my aging Father (who is now in a Nursing Home) or working or various projects for pin money.  She loves having a computer as it helps her "hear" through the typed word and that keeps in her touch with what is going on in her family's life.

She is the proud Mother of 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren (one being my Miss K!).

"Thank you, Mom, for your constant encouragement during my life.  You will always be my hero."
Blessings to you as you celebrate the lives of those you love...and those who love you!

Happy Mother's Day

PS:  To BKN and My AdrieGirl...my two beautiful children~ I'm proud to be your mother and to call each of you FRIEND.  You've grown up to bless me and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't thank God for you.  XO, Momma

You are such a blessed woman. We have 3 children but one is in Heaven. Joshua, he was only 16 when we lost him. My goodness, these tears are flowing. The music you have selected just fills my heart.

Hi Becky--

I wrote a coment early, but my computer froze, so I am trying to write again.

It was hard for me not to peek at your blog before Sunday, but it was well worth it. What a delightful surprise I found when I opened the package you gave me. The little pillow is adorable. I would have recognized that "Special 'Rebecca' Touch" of creativity anywhere. I will Cherish it always.

I am at a wonder at the beautiful tribute you wrote for me. Thank you for your sweet comments. I am humbled and at a lost for words.

I am so happy I was able to spend part of Mother's Day with you and your family. Lunch was great. It is a JOY knowing you are loved. That is the greatest gift of all.

Please convey my thanks to all your friends who left well wishes for me on your blog. How thoughtful all of your friends, their comments are greatfully appreciated.

Blessisngs on you, dear daughter. I love you.

Hugs-- MOM

Gothenburg is far away from me but yes I know where it is! Do you ever come up to Nebraska?

I have relatives in OKC and love the downtown area!
