~GETTING BETTER and PRESSING ON~

I promise you...I am never, ever going to take my health for granted again.  After being down for the count nearly every day since just before New Year's Eve, I feel like I have a new-found appreciation for wellness and life without medication.

Just before Christmas I spent some time visiting my longtime neighbor of 18 years.  She is a retired schoolteacher and has been one of my dearest friends since moving into our La Chaumière de Briarwood back in July of '92.  A couple of years ago she developed a serious lung condition and if I understand her illness correctly, it is like having chronic pneumonia and her prognosis for a full recovery is slim.  Save for the healing touch of God she will never live life without the aid of added oxygen again.  I was shocked when I saw how her health had declined and how very fast how all we know in life can change due to illness.

This morning as I gulped down two very strong antibiotics and swigged the nastiest tasting of all cough medicines, I found renewed thankfulness in seeing an end to the flu-madness that has gripped our home (and bodies).

Thank you again for your notes and prayers.  I keep saying we've 'turned the corner' on this horrible bug and that I believe our worst days are now behind us.  I pray it is true.  I hope to be back on top of my life this week even though I'm taking things slow.   Still, given my nature I can't wait to be back in the full-swing of things and return to life as I know and love it.

My hubby did return to work today and somehow, that in and of itself, helps me to feel that all is right and good.

Blessings to you.  I've been missing you more than I can say.

Love to you this awesome Monday...

So glad to hear you on finally on the mend. The right meds & rest can do wonders in fighting this horrible "BUG" that has gripped our area also.

We are trying to stay out of what I call the "coughing crowds". Just take it easy for a bit longer..we will all be here when you return in full force with a much rested body.

A bout with the flu is miserable at the best of times but for both you and your hubby to be ill at the same time must have been terrible.
Sending get well wishes to your home in hopes that you will feel back to normal soon.
Very sad about your neighbour but she has a good friend in you.

Oh boy, have I learned that lesson! Nothing means anything if we don't feel good. Not even the most beautiful gems...
Glad you are perking up!!

Everyday you are better. This stuff can sure take a toll.

I'm on day 13. Last night I didn't have coughing fits!!!
Good progress, but now Lil Miss is coughing. I am concerned about her health.

Hey Rebecca-Glad you are feeling better. I have to tell you that one of my father's favorite sayings was, "If you don't have your health, you don't have anything". I didn't understand that as a kid but I sure do now...and working in the health care field...I am amazed to see how fast some people go downhill...and others that seem to be at the very edge of life make a full turn to recovery. The body is an amazing and awesome thing..and even when we have "given up" I do believe that God can step in and heal.

Bless you sweet friend- It will be good to see you back full force! Hugs- Diana

I'm glad to hear you're turned the corner, Rebecca. I stayed in for three solid weeks (missing Christmas and New Years and all sorts of things), and I got out for a few minutes on Saturday and again today. But I'm worn out. I don't know what this virus was, but it was fierce. Don't overdo when you try to go back to work. Be kind to yourself.

XO,

Sheila :-)

Rebecca, I am so glad that you and hubby are feeling better. A belated Happy Birthday to him. I am hoping that the flu shot that both my hubby and I took is the right one to keep us from getting the flu. I understand that it is nasty. Have a great day. Your Missouri Friend.

You are going to have to rest a bit longer, especially if you are finishing up with antibiotics. Do I sound like your mother? Oh well, maybe the big sister? Take care and don't have any relapses. ♥♫

Rebecca, how wonderful that you have befriended a precious elderly lady. I think as we age, we realize just how very important friendships are. I hope she gets better right along with you and hubby! Glad he was finally able to go back to work. Hang in there! Feel much better soon.

So glad to hear you are starting to feel back in the "PINK" (wink, wink). It is times like this when we realize just how fragile we are and realize that we can't take our health for granted. It sounds like this flu is going to be one of those flus that you will never forget how sick you were. I had a flu like that about 20 years ago and to this day I can still remember how sick I was.
Big hugs, Sue
P.S. I will be posting again soon. All is very well with me.

Hi Sweets!
I am so glad to read you are on the mend! It really does make us appreciate our health differently when we have been down...or know of dear ones who are struggling.

Trust me I KNOW that feeling too. Between a sinus infection, death of grams, travling (up/down in airplanes), a root canal from h*ll and now both of my fam dealing with colds...well I am looking so forward to SPRING and warmer weather!

Mend well my friends and get a creatin again soon!

Hugs...Lorena

Dearest Rebecca,

So glad for you that you're almost back on top of the hill... It is hard for being in the valleys of life. Great that Steve is back to work too.
I don't even recall, IF, with so many things having happened, but I do have a Giveaway of a 925/000 silver angel. Ending on January 25 so there is still plenty of time to sign up. The button to the left of my blog brings you to that blog for signing up.
And I do have the 'R' alphabet angel as well; looks like you could use one.
We all can use one...!

Let's count all our blessings and tackle the year from there; one day at a time.

Lots of love,

Mariette's Back to Basics
