~KATHY'S BEAUTIFUL BEDROOM~

One of the side benefits of hosting a fun GIVEAWAY is that you get to meet lots and lots of talented blogger friends that otherwise you might never have stumbled upon.  Or in this case, have stumble upon me~   It takes just one blogger to link or blog about your site and then another... and before you know it you've found a entirely new circle of friends that somehow you've missed discovering.

It's a small, small world!

I've had so much fun going through the comments I've received regarding the hand painted pink rose sewing drawer and the dainty sachet.  A few of the comments have really caught my eye...  Some of you are really hilarious!  I've found there is more talent out there than I ever imagined ...

Take Kathy from KATE'S PLACE for instance!  She found me and then I found her!  Kathy has a precious blog!  I love her style and the soft, inviting place she calls home.  I so hope you will stop in and say hello to Miss Kathy!  She already has a wonderful following but I promise you...if you love shabby cottage chic decor you will LOVE her site!

Next...I want to introduce you to Tammy from TAMMY'S HEART.  Tammy is brand new to the blogging world even though we know her Momma, Miss Ginger from GLITTER and ROSES, well.  Tammy has a heart of gold and it was a pleasure meeting her in person a couple of months ago.  Some of the very BEST Bloggers live not far from me in the beautiful State of Oklahoma... Tammy lives in a sweet little cottage painted up with fresh whites and surrounded by a lovely garden.  I hope you'll stop in a welcome her!

Before I scoot for the day I just had to let you see the final result of my furniture makeover!  The chest came out just as beautiful as the dresser!  I did decide to keep both of the larger pieces and I couldn't be happier!  If you missed my Post about snagging such a great find you can read about it HERE and HERE!

Now...I'm off to my booth space at French Quarter Antiques in Oklahoma City.  It looks like one of those famous Okie Twisters made it's way through my little space.  Everything is torn up and looking really sad! :(  I have a true work day ahead of me.

 A couple of weeks ago I shared with you some of the things my Mr. AGPMan and I hauled back from Tennessee.  Remember this POST from mid April? Part of the treasures we brought back to Oklahoma included the sweet vintage chest and the newer mirror you see above...

Although they didn't actually 'go together', I loved how the two pieces looked  when 'married '! :)

You may not believe me but they actually called out to me and said...

"Rebecca~please take us home.  We've been sitting here in this nasty cold and lonely antique shoppe for sooo long now and have been waiting for many months years for our long deserved transformation!  Won't you PLEASE help us?  Won't you at least TRY to make us beautiful?"

Well now...what could I say and do?

They came home with me and LOTS of their friends, too! :) :) :)

Now...when I have furniture waiting for a transformation I can hardly wait to get started.  But...with the reopening of my website last week (I added some new pretties today!) I had to put off the much needed makeover(s).  At least this gave my guy a chance to get started on the MANY repairs that were needed.  Old stuff ALWAYS seems to need fixing...especially the drawers and runners of vintage chests and dressers...

I have a thing for tired, worn out stuff.  Even when an old find doesn't really qualify as a true antique, I believe nearly anything with good bones can be transformed.

VINTAGE RULES!

Take this old chest of drawers from the 1960's...

~FABULOUS WOODEN KNOBS~

Hiding inside this fairly decent looking solid wood piece was a multitude of damage.  Nearly every drawer was loose and the entire frame had to be clamped and glued.  Ugh!

Here she is with her totally pink, shabbilicious makeover...

~HAND PAINTED ROSES, TOO~

Now...I'm going to remind you again about ZINSSER Primer! 

Give your furniture a couple of good (but not thick) coats of this amazing stuff before painting!  I use a sponge brush because when they get yucky I can toss them out.  I also love the Satin Finish on almost any house/interior latex paint (Behr at Home Depot is good and so is Signature Traditions at Lowe's).  Just remember to lightly sand in-between coats.  This will keep any nubbies down to a minimum and help to give your piece great coverage.  If you are going to distress your piece I recommend you wait at least two days for your paint to cure.  This will help to keep it from 'rolling' up and embedding itself into your sandpaper!

Might me better to do what we did...plan a trip out here and pull a U-Haul Trailer back home!  Probably cheaper! :)
