"LOVE IS..." and Other Things That Matter

LOVE IS...
LETTING HER MAKE THE FINAL
DECISION CHOOSING FURNITURE

Boy...Wednesdays sure do roll around fast when you're busy doing other things!

For those of you who are new to following my Blog you'll quickly learn that on hump day I share one of my aging "LOVE IS...." clippings with all my blogging friends!!!

Just to recap~ Years ago my Mr. AGPMan (once just my honey, but now my hubby-honey) would carefully snip from the daily newspaper the latest "LOVE IS..." comic and tuck it inside his most recent love-letter to me. I've saved every one and even though it is crazy-sappy to re-read the words written by two love-sick kids after 30 years of marriage...well, I just can't help myself.

Now...this latest clippy just rings my bell! As much as I delight in the decorative opinion of my significant other, he knows better than override me when it comes to ANYTHING that relates to decorating the INSIDE of our home.

Indeed, my guy is a VERY smart man.

Now...did I tell you MY GUY IS A VERY SMART MAN?

Oh yes! I did.

I base my decision on ONE very important, yet simple fact... I saw the apartment he lived in BEFORE we got married. It was a SAD little thing! A sad, sad, SAD LITTLE THING! Broke college student or not, it was shameful. Absolutely SHAMEFUL.

(Honey...if you are reading this, I'M JUST KIDDING!) :) :) :)

Blessings to you as you learn just WHO IS BEST... and at WHAT....Rebecca

Oh how cute, the man lets the women choose, now at that the truth. My husband must be one of the smart men to, letting me choose the furniture. Your blog is so elegant. Wonderfully done.

Cheers,
Heidi

LOL!! Mr. Rose has finally learned this. We were newlyweds and had a huge huge fight over my choice for our new living room furniture. I found the most adorable couch and loveseat, very shabby chic for back then, pink roses all over it, with a big ruffle around the bottom of pink and ivory stripes with matching striped pillows. He said, "NO WAY, How can I have my guy friends over to sit and watch football on a pink foo foo couch?" He won "that" one, lol but now he justs says, whatever you like honey, whatever you like. (He'll never live that one down) :) Hope you're having a wonderful week my friend.

G'morn, Rebecca ~ Another one to start my day ... before I am on my way.

These are just wonderful little notes & the messages are so sweet. What a tribute to your Mr. AGPMan saving all these darling little 'tuck-ins' all these years. The memories have to melt your heart .....

My DH could care less about the decorating I do, for which I am everso grateful ... I do get the occasional 'look' but choose to ignore, it most of the time, when it comes to the expense.

Have a beautiful day. TTFN~ Marydon

Ohmygosh, why do you think I kept this man for over 48 years, chickee!! BECAUSE he doesn't grumble when I painted the whole house pink except for his mint green office. Yep, he's a keeper and is very proud of it now and I have what I want. We say that the 2 most important words a man can say are: "Yes, dear"!! So true, so true..........

Good morning Rebecca,
I think I have a couple of those "Love IS clipping tucked away somewhere too. I loved them then and I love them now as you stir up good old memories. If I might copy a couple of yours to send off to my just newly wed son and his bride. They are furniture shopping and I do want them to have success at it and we both know that it comes from doing exactly what your love is clipping said. lol

Your man is so lucky that you swooped in and rescued him from his sad little apartment - and I'll bet he would agree!

I couldn't agree more! My hubby gave up long ago trying to have a say in decorating matters. He always loves the way it turns out though. Although he has said(jokingly) my last choice in lv. room furniture looks like dollhouse furniture. That's really sweet after 30 years you still have keeepsakes he gave to you! Traci xo

Hi Rebecca sweet,
Love this one too. I would have to put my husband in the same catagory as 'smart man'. If I have to put up with his horse corrals on the property, he's more than happy to have me do what ever I want with my domain.

June

Decor To Adore said...

As my hubby once had bar towels covering every surface of his "furniture" so he wouldn't have to dust we decided I would be the only decorator in the family. It has worked well. :)

I have a man like yours. He finally gave up fighting it. All he wanted was one room for an office but, I needed something else to foo-foo up. He went and built himself an office inside his huge garage and decorated it with all of his native-american finds. Ewwwww, not my taste at all! Poor guy puts up with alot after 36 yrs. Love your blog Rebecca, keep it coming!

God Bless!

I used to cut these little "Love Is...." people out of the paper back in the 70's! I wonder what happened to them :-(

Oh Rebecca, how sweet, he is reaching into his sock money to buy her an antique. Our heavenly Father reaches into his heart and shares his very soul with us every day. I love this comparison. Thank you for sharing this beautiful morning. Your Christian love just shines around you. I so hope I win your heart, I already have a wonderful place picked out for it, and your work just shines of God. I love it. Have a wonderful blessed day Rebecca. Country hugs, Sherry

After 32 years I surely relate. Oh my man does make comments but they don't stick...lols. He knows who butters his bread! Just like me on a whim deciding to change the guest bed room into a craft room only 3 days ago and I got the room emptied in one day...yeah I decorate as I please..(smile)!

Happy Hump day to ya Rebecca.

Very true. Most of the time if you give them a comfortable chair and a TV, they are happy! Thanks for your comment this morning, I found the comment about being more specific on your weather prayers very cute! I'll have to remember that. I hope there are no more storms coming your way!

THE PILLOW ENDED UP BECOMING A BIRTHDAY GIFT WHEN I COULDN'T AFFORD TO BUY ONE, MY BEST FRIENDS MOM PEGGY, WHO IS ALSO A CLOSE FRIEND OF MINE LOVES IT! IT STILL SITS PRETTY ON HER BED TODAY.... I MAY BE WRONG, BUT I THINK THAT'S THE VERY FIRST THING I GOT FROM YOU....IT SEEMS LIKE IT WAS EARLIER THAN 05, I CERTAINLY KNOW I BID ON YOUR ITEMS, JUST NEVER WON UNTIL THEN LOL. WHAT A FRENZY THOSE DAYS WERE!

Hi Rebecca, Love this post. Spoken like a girl after my own heart. LOL!! My guy gives his input, but knows, in the end, who makes the decorating decisions. We are so blessed to have these guys who let us make a house a home.
I even organize his garage at times. LOL!!

Have I told you lately how I adore your blog? Always an inspiration to me.

Rebecca, I think it's so sweet that you kept all these little mementos,... and still finding them relevant! When we bought the house we are in now, we bought alot of new furniture. I'd always thought my husband was easy to deal with, but all of the sudden he started having a decorating opinion??? We had to do a lot of compromise, but it turned out well. I did learn he DOES have good taste. LOL
