~CHOOSING TO DIE-IT - So I Can LIVE-IT~

Dear Peeps...

Today marks the beginning of Week Three in my Weight Watchers "DIE-IT (Diet)! I've decided I DO NOT LIKE that "D" word (no matter how it's spelled!). The older I get the harder it is to regain control of just WHAT IT IS I put into my mouth! I was once just a tiny little kid...I'm wondering what happened!?

Now...let it be said~I don't have a ton of weight to lose. That may be at least one of the reasons why it's been soooo easy to excuse away shedding the extra poundage. Maybe if I was a heavier gal I'd have more incentive to get in shape. Maybe not. I just know I don't like how I FEEL any longer and that has got to be enough to bring change into my life! Additionally, I don't EVER want my children to see my chest cracked open (sorry for the mental picture) because I need bypass surgery like my mother did a few years ago~ I will do anything to spare them such a agony...

SCARY!

Still...weight loss success is coming. Slowly. But, it is coming! Today I'm down a full ten pounds and it feels good to fit back into my 'favorite blue jeans'. Let it be said I have an iron will. I do. If I decide to do something I DO IT! Period. Even so...I can tell I'm older than I was the last time I decided to drop some weight. That was at least a decade ago and I don't remember being nearly this unfocused or even this whiny. Despite my stick-to-it-tive-ness attitude :), I've decided overall that losing excess weight is HARD WORK! I feel for those of you who struggle with this issue every day...

My poor Mr. AGPMan! If not for the simple fact he can also stand to lose a few pounds himself he'd be running for the hills.

No "Mimi's Chicken, Cranberry, Walnut, Blue Cheese Salad" for me for a while (or him)! I nearly fainted when I realized it contains almost ALL my daily allowed points in that one tiny dish! :(

Blessings to you as you make good choices for your life...Rebecca

Diet is a four-letter word! That's why I have called what I do a "life style change". About 1.5 years ago when I started eating better and exercising regularly in order to improve my bone loss, naturally I lost a few pounds. And my goal is to continue with my plan in order to be as healthy as I can.

You have what I feel is the most important thing in making a lifestyle change...your attitude. Having that "won't give up" attitude will get you to whatever goal you hope to achieve. My attitude is what worked for me.

I know you'll do great! Have fun knowing you're not only doing this for yourself, but your family as well. And they will appreciate it!

Hi Rebecca,
I hear you! I was always a tiny little thing myself and my illness plus heavy meds put all the weight on my little five foot frame. Because I felt awful, I made up my mind a couple of years ago to do something about it too. I have gone from a size 12 to a size 6-8. Now a size 12 doesn't seem like much but when you're only five feet tall with a small bone structure, it is! I used the WW program too and it worked. It took me a few months with exercise, but I did it. I still have to be careful though. I'm glad you're doing it not only for your loved ones but also for yourself! Have a wonderful day.

Blessings,
Sandi

I lost 40lbs. A few years back and it is a day to day struggle to keep it off. And now that I am not working it is very hard. The trick for me is small portions. I just need to not eat so many small portions a day. LOL! I have gained some inchs back but no weight yet. Good Luck. Congrats on the 10lbs.

It does seem to be harder to take off the weight as we get older. I've never had a problem with weight gain until I hit the PAUSE! I would love to get back to walking, but I'm still on the mend from a very badly sprained foot. So it seems like forever til I can get the walking shoes back on.

Rebecca, Congratulations on your weight loss. Your post made me smile....I just finished my healthy lunch and then had a piece of Halloween candy....yikes!! I only eat small amounts of yunk because sugar gives me headaches.

I don't have any children, sweetheart. Just the four-legged kind. We are possibly going to Missouri for Thanksgiving this year. Ron's family lives in Kansas City.

Yes, I will be sharing some recipes for Thanksgiving....I adore cooking.

Hugs and love to you, Barb ♥

Such a nasty word my sweet friend and it should not come out of a ladys mouth should it? We could only hope!! :) I must say this is not the season to be thinking of not eating, way too many good things to bake, cook and to eat. I too am trying and would love to have it off before we all give thanks, but I am not going to worry about it, I just need to do it, good luck, Char

Well, I think that you could inspire me to start dieting again. Losing weight is not only a physical thing but it takes a lot of mental and emotional energy. One has to prepare oneself for it. I kinda lost the urge of late, even though I know I need to lose a few pounds, but after reading your post, you could be just what I need to get me going again. I will have to drop by often and let you give me a new pep talk and keep me on track. Kudos on the already lost 10! warmly, Debby

Hi Rebecca, Yes I could shed a few pounds myself and sitting by the computers is not helping. Right now I have been concentrating just eating right and working out more and blogging is my last priority at the moment. Congratulations on your weight loss.... I just hope your able to keep it off during the Holidays.

Hi Rebecca,
Good for you! A huge applause from me! You can do it, oh yes you can!.
Gary and I have been on WW for 5 months now, its so nice when you have a partner to help. We really love the program and find it easy. The only thing is men loose so much faster than us girls. I don't really mind, its just so nice to see him trying and reading about the points and he does all the weighing of our food at dinner time. He is so committed to loosing and feeling healthier.
Me too.
Keep up the good work and if you crave goodies like I do, try the WW mint chip ice cream and the brownies. Very yummy.
Hugs,
Elizabeth

Hello Rebecca.... how wonderful, you have lost ten pounds already! And you said you feel better, that is the main thing... I never say the "D" word! I just re~read one of my favorite books that always gets me inspired about eating right... "French Women Don't Get Fat" by Mireille Guiliano... Since I am mostly French, I love reading her book about how important "attitude" towards the food you eat is... and the French attitude towards life itself...(I guess it's the part of me that's NOT French that adds on the weight! tee hee hee) Good luck to you... I am sure you are perfect just the way you are... but I too do not want the health problems my mama and daddy went through... love to you... Bisous... Julie Marie

Good luck! I need to drop 40 or 50 but I'm really not ready to commit! When I do I can do it. SO I think I will use you as inspiration and get myself going. I'm trying and even Halloween hasn't set me back. I just need to commit!

Well done Rebecca, I am so happy that you have lost 10lbs and I have to say with hand on heart that I am so envious. I need to shed 25lbs and it is a real struggle. Since I had my complete hysterectomy I find it hard to shed 1lb. I need to have my lips stapled shut. Well done and keep going for all of us gals that are struggling......

I too think that it's much harder as we get older...and more important than ever to stay fit and trim as we age. Definitely NOT easy though! Lots of love to you...xoxo, Janet

Hello sweet Rebecca, this time of year is always tough for me. I love to put on a huge feast for Thanksgiving and then eat it! I love to do all the fun Christmas baking and then eat it. Then there is no garden work to help burn it off. Good for you in your quest to get healthy for your family.
Love to you friend,
June

~~Rebecca~~Congratulations!!! Good Job!!
I wrote you a note once already this evening and I hate it when it clears for some reason and goes off into blog space somewhere. Anyway, I'll try to remember what I wrote.
A few years ago I was in a high stressed management job and I tried WW to kind of get me looking at healthier foods as I ate "on the go"! I really liked the program. Although, I could stand to loose a few lbs that had crept up on me, I lost about 15 lbs and felt fabulous and very healthy. Last year I had minor knee surgery and had to postpone my walking and exercise program some and feel like I may check out WW to kind of get back on track. It's always hard this time of the year coming up with (See's candy and the other goodies), but my husband tells me that we can always eat anything we want on Thanksgiving, it's just one day and "won't hurt anything". Men, sometime they just don't get it. LOL!
Keep up the good work and be the incentive to all of us. Don't know if you know, Applebee's Restaurant has a portion of their menu devoted to WW including the points for each meal!
Love & hugs, Mary H.

Hello Sweet Rebecca!
I am so proud of you sweetie. Congrats to you. They say it is always those last 10-15 pounds that are the hardest to take off. I am so above that I couldn't tell you for sure, but congrats sweetie. Those favorite jeans are the best reward of all.

Thanks for sharing. Please stop by soon. I so love it when you do. Country hugs, Sherry

Hi Rebecca,
thanks for stopping by and leaving such a sweet comment. You ALWAYS do and make my soul smile.
What a funny coincidence. did I hear weight loss????
I was at my acupuncturist this morning and ask him whether he could help me loose some weight. Actually it's not much - only 5 kilos - but I really need to. I also started my first Pilates class last night. So, hope that less food, a little excercise and some professional aid (needles!!!) will lead me to the right direction.
BTW, did I tell you already how much I enjoy popping by your blog????????? your pics, vintage vignettes and sweet thoughts make my day.
Have a great day. Mine is getting close to its end.
Hugs
Rita

Rebecca! Congratulations on getting fit or "re-fit" as I like to say to myself! I think the smaller you are the harder it is to make some of those unwanted lbs disappear. Good for you sticking with it! Let me repeat: GOOD FOR YOU! Blessings for a wonderful day! Coralie
