~CHRISTMAS SHABBY COTTAGE CHIC~

~WELCOME...COME ON IN~
 Just Off Our Entry

I ended up being MIA this weekend!  Truthfully...I enjoyed every single second I spent with my Miss K!  We shopped 'til  we dropped, BB&J (Baked, Bagged and Jared) Christmas goodies and we decorated until we could decorate no more!  When her Momma and Daddy picked her up this afternoon my La Chaumière de Briarwood looked as though a mini-tornado had invaded her interior!  I was toooooo tired to even THINK ABOUT Bloggin!
~OUR CHRISTMAS DINING ROOM~
All Is Calm~All is Bright

Wouldn't have changed a thing!  That said...I'm behind again, but who cares?  Right?

Above you'll see some of the fruits of our labor.  Our two dining room Trees are finished and they look sparkly and bright.  The larger Christmas Tree holds all of our family ornaments and is always the most fun to decorate!  Of all our trees, both little and big, she is the PINKEST, but is dearly loved just the same.  Good thing I've had all the ornaments for years and years because it's almost impossible to find PINK BULBS anymore!
Have you tried?
Found any?
I saw a few at Hobby Lobby, but that was about it!
~MY FAVORITE TREE~
Demure and Sweet

This medium sized Tree is new to our home this year and was initially purchased because I wasn't sure the larger Tree was going to ever get decorated.  We've had the larger of the two Trees for well over twelve years and it holds 700 plus mini bright lights...but~about 600 of them had burned out!!!

~CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS?~
(About 1/3 of the burned out bulbs)

My Mr. AGPMan changed them out one by one.  A huge task, but ultimately easier than trying to remove the old lights and then re-wrap the limbs with fresh strings.  Took him about 5 hours (or more) to relight the thing...and then I yanked it outside and flocked the entire thing (FAUX SNOW IN A CAN!!)  It was TOOOO TOOOOO GREEN for me and the faux snow toned it down!
~OUR "NOEL" BANNER

The most exciting thing Miss K and I did as far as decorating goes was the making of this Sugared and Glittered NOEL BANNER!  It was easy peasy to make, too!  The scrolly frame around the lettering was taken from a vintage cabinet photo and scanned into my computer.  The background color was changed and a single letter was placed in the center!  They were printed out on heavy card-stock and then lots of shimmer and shine was added.  Each lettered card was linked to the next using vintage gold cording and draped across a vintage mirror...

For right now I'm back in my studio as I have LOTS and LOTS to list on my website and will be doing so every day this week.  Hope you'll stop by to see what's new.

Are you wondering about the winner of my FOLLOWERS GIVEAWAY?  Well...the sweet gal who snagged the prize is none other than FRANCY RICHARDS!  Francy doesn't have a blog (just loves to read them) and has followed me from the beginning!  You can find her comments sprinkled all through my posts.  Thank you to all of you who played along and for the kind compliments!  CONGRATULATIONS FRANCY GIRL!

Now...are you wanting to know about my December Giveaway?  It will be the last one I will be doing this year.  I'll be announcing it tomorrow and it's sure to be a fun one!  How about the treats my Miss K and I put together?  Would you like to see those as well?

Happy Monday and Merry Christmas!
May you bring to this day your very best!

Blessings and love...

A Big CONGRATS to Francy for winning a treasure from Rebecca. I am sure it is one you will hold close to your heart forever.

Rebecca, the view from your French doors is so very lovely. What a trooper your Mr. AGP Man is getting tree lights fixed. Isn't that a tedious part of decorating?

All looks well, All looks bright at the Nelson's. Lovely job and a big Hug for inspiring the rest of us :)

Hi Rebecca,
I'm so glad that you enoyed your time with Miss K. Sounds like so much fun.

I love your pretty pink Christmas tree. I agree that pink ornaments are hard to find. There is a Christmas shop here in town that has a child's section that has tons of pink ornaments, some that are very pretty.

hugs

Your Christmas trees are really beautiful, I LOVE your dining room, it is so gorgeous! I know what you mean about a tree being too green. That is exactly what I don't like about my tree, it looks all wrong. I don't know how to flock it though, can you tell me what you did?

Good morning, Rebecca....me, again!
In my excitement at 3:30 AM when I saw my name posted as winning the latest give-away, I did not tell you how very beautiful all of your home is now decorated for the hoildays! It looks like something from an ultra-classy magazine spread of the most beautiful homes for the holidays
First....the patience of your Mr. AGPman to have worked with all of those little lights....oh, my!! And then, seeing everything put together!
It is absolutely breath-taking!!! The soft, delicate colors (the PINKS, sigh!)and the beautiful little trees you have set up here and there, to say nothing of THE tree....just perfection! You can really be proud of all you two have done, because it is wonderful...and the love shines through!! You are such a blessed family!
I bet Miss K had a great time helping over the weekend!! She must have been so proud to be part of it all...you two are such hands-on grand
parents!! That alone means so much to a little girl like her....
Enjoy it now and REST!!!
Love you girl..........Francy

Your dining room is absolutely gorgeous! I could just look at it all day long! I'm so glad we have blogland so you can share it with us! I've always wanted to decorate with pink but I don't have the right type of house for that. Or I would!
I'm so glad you and Miss K had a great time. This weekend will be a wonderful memory for you both.
So sweet of your husband to re-do all those lights! WOW!
Remember when I went to that antique mall with my daughter last month for my birthday? They had tons of vintage pink bulbs. I betcha they're gone now! They were beautiful.

So beautiful! My first home had pink roses in the living room and dining room, so I did a pink tree for my daughter's first Christmas. I saved all of the ornaments to give to her when she gets married, but your tree makes me want to pull them all out and do a pink tree again! Love it!

Hi Rebecca,

Your trees are so pretty.
And what a patient man your
husband is...Thomas would be
happy to do the same thing.
Lucky for me because that
task would have driven me
crazy..ha ha

I found strings of Pink Wired and Pink bulbs at Walgreen's drug store of all places! I needed some for my tiny pink tree so I stocked up to use them around the house too.

Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful decorations and thanks for visiting with me.

Have a wonderful {pink} day,
Stephanie ♥

Hi Rebecca, I am wondering if you don't mind, giving me the name of the print shop pro you use. I may regret ever asking, but I would love to give it a try......oh woe is me.......it looks so very difficult but I am game.....
Why is my mind running "be careful what you wish for?" Have a good one girlfriend, Char

Char said...

Rebecca, thank you so much for your advice on the photo shop pro.
I didn't know you were trying learn to smock. Altho you didn't ask for it, I will say that the most important thing to consider is the pleader. There are many models and you want to make sure you get one that is easy to use and make sure to consider the number of needles you may want. Pleaders are pricey and you don't want to make a mistake by buying one and later wishing you had more needle opportunity. This will determine the lenghth of the pleading. From what I can remember, the smocking it's self is not hard, it's fairly easy, my problem is remembering how to thread the fabric into the machine and do the measuring for the sizes. I still have many patterns including all the ones I showed on my blog, if you are interested, please let me know and I will copy them for you. Thanks again and good luck, Char
