~~ROMANTIC COTTAGE BICYCLE PLANTER~~ From Fabulous to OVER-DA-MOON

 ~PAINTED OUT IN CRISP WHITE~

Not long after I started blogging I shared with you just how I came about getting this charming Bicycle Planter!  If you missed it or would like to read more sappy stuff then just click on the highlighted link above.

Below is a picture of the planter when my hubby first gifted it to me a couple of years ago.  She was Verdigris in color back then and I actually LOVED her that way.  But...after two winters outside (I know...I know!) she was NOT looking too well.  So, for Spring 2011 I decided to paint her out using my newly favorite spray paint, Fresh White, by Valspar (available at Lowe's).
~ORIGINAL VERDIGRIS~

Now...I make no secret about the FACT I don't have a Green Thumb.  I wish I did.  Prayed for it in fact...just don't think it's meant to be.  Even so, I still give planting pretty flowers, shrubs, trees and even herbs a more than admiral "try".  Sometimes I hit pay-dirt and sometimes when the end of the growing season is over I fill up my trash can(s) with dead foliage (bah!)...

It's just now really warming up here in Oklahoma and trust me when I say our gardens and lawn DID NOT FARE WELL during the Winter.  It will be another month before our grass thickens up and turns a beautiful shade of green...I can't wait!
 ~FRESH WHITE IS SO YUMMY~

Here's another shot of her sitting pretty holding my Grandma's favorite flowers, Geraniums.  I can't look at them without thinking of her!
~VIEW FROM INSIDE~

About a month ago my hubby installed our new French Doors in our breakfast room.  Remember that post?  Ever since then we've been waiting for our new side windows to arrive and I'm happy to say they finally came in this week!  We had to have them special/custom ordered and it seemed to take FOREVER for them to get here!
~SIDE WINDOWS~

This weekend they will be installed and I'm going to tell you right up front that they BETTAH BE WORTH WHAT WE HAD TO PAY FOR THEM!  Wow!  Paying for custom-sized windows will put you in the poor house and this
junking-sluming-antique-loving-gal
nearly fainted over having to give her right arm for them (well, almost...you know, right?)...

Hope your day is wonderful!

Love to you on this gorgeous Spring Day...

Even the lilacs aren't budded yet & my gardens look like a barren wasteland!!
Some day.... Some day.... I will live where it is w-a-r-m all the time !! (WOW.. was that a rant!??)
....just cabin fever!!.... LOL!!
Have a Wonderful Day!!

Rebecca,
Love the bike but about your windows!!! Yes, I know how expensive they are but you know how long you've waited to do this room and girl you're getting what you want. You won't be sorry in the long run for getting it right. And I just bet this time next year you won't know the difference. In my younger days when money was tight with two kids at home or both in college I had to substitute for what I really, really wanted. Now what I buy for my home lasts a long, long time because it's what I truly want, my sofa is eight years old and is as beautiful as ever and I have never tired of it. Can't wait to see your complete room makeover. Have a Blessed Day, Judy

I love your bicycle planter...it looks very sweet dressed in white and the geraniums {also my favorite} are so pretty!

I have an old pink Schwinn and I have often thought of putting a basket of flowers on it! How cute would that be!

I'm looking forward to seeing your side windows in...love those French doors!

Jane

Rebecca, you write in such a cute way, and I am loving your bike, with its new white paint and flowers. How great to get new doors and side windows, even at a shockingly high price!

Rebecca...I LOVE it. It looks adorable all done in white. I have a question. Did you mention a Cottage White by Krylon or am I going around the bend. And if so...is there a difference...
I went looking for the Cottage White and never found it..but this White looks lovely.

(You DO know of course, I take every single bit of advice you give out! :)

Hugs!

Love the planter in white. I had a similar one that I gave to my daughter because I couldn't bear to paint it- lol...now I realize I should have kept it and painted it white- too late now!

You may not have a GREEN thumb but you have a PINK thumb and your plants are "painted" rather than grown...they are much more perfect than any old potted plant! Hugs- Diana

What a great "planter" your bike is! I love it in white, too.
And the glance of the French doors and new side windows shows how very
beautiful it is all going to be real soon!! Can't wait for the finished "un-veiling" of the new kitchen and breakfast area!
We have temps in the 80's now and everything is in bloom, even the dead grass has sprung back! We also have the AC running.....the spring allergies make this a neccesity around here!!
Like Diana, from the above comment, told you...your thumb is PINK and that makes it just perfect
so don't worry about not having a GREEN one!!
Warm hugs, Francy

Rebecca...

I just love this...what a beautiful make-over! My first bicycle was a pink and white Schwinn.

I don't think you give yourself enough credit! From the looks of the beautiful planting around your bicycle, your thumb is plenty green!

The bicycle planter is so pretty and the windows will be too. We so need new windows but can't afford or won't pay for new ones. Someday I will but not today. Yours look well worth it. They are going to be so nice. Enjoy and don't think about the price.

Dear Rebecca, I remember with fondness when you wrote about the wonderful gift from Mr. AGPman. It was beautiful before but is now truly spectacular with its glorious geraniums. I grew them as a child and they grew really tall and spindly. My beloved grandfather a wonderful gardener came to visit one day and promptly pruned them down. He gently explained to my young heart that they needed pruning in order to grow big and strong. I could not see it that day but he was right. Within a month they were vibrant and glorious. Thank you so much for bringing this wonderful memory back for me.

Hugs, Maureen.

Beautiful.... I love the original color of the bicycle... , but I love the new and improved color even better. You have a way of making everything look better 'than before'....

The windows will be wonderful... and you'll hopefully never think back of their expense.... just their beauty.
Hugs!!!
