~STANDIN' ON THE CORNER IN WINSLOW~

My hubby and I returned late last night from a sweet little Spring get-a-way.  We enjoyed some fabulous R & R and truly had the most wonderful time while zig-zagging our way through a few South Western States!!!

Since we were away from home over Easter Sunday we attended church with an old college friend at a pretty little place in Flagstaff, Arizona.  The music was lovely and the service was beautiful.  My guy almost always wears a suit to church (or at least a dress jacket), but "Flag" is sooo laid-back that he felt much better in a pullover...

Aside from FINALLY visiting the Grand Canyon (I'll show pics of that next week) we goofed about while stopping over in Winslow, Arizona, too.  Winslow, of course, was made famous by the old Eagle's song "Take It Easy" which was written by Jackson Browne and Glen Frey.
Not too sure just WHAT I was expecting, but Winslow is nothing like I pictured it to be in my mind.  The Interstate (I-40) successfully detoured the Old Route 66 traveler and much of the town seems to have died away.  There were lots of closed businesses and empty store fronts...kinda sad!
The painted mural and the bronze statue were a sight to behold though...  The mural was painted by muralist, John Pugh, and the statue was designed by sculptor, Ron Adamson.  Stopping off in Winslow was well worth our time and it was fun acting light-hearted and silly!
Even though my Mr. AGPMan and I had a wonderful time gallivanting around in the West, pulling back into the driveway of our La Chaumière de Briarwood made the two of us swoon with joy!

~~HOME SWEET HOME~~
(Truly 'Nothing Bettah'!!!)

I'm going to spend some time visiting around and hopscotching about to see what you've all been up to while I've been away.  If I can pull myself together I'll see you tomorrow for PINK SATURDAY!  I also have a fun new GIVEAWAY for you and that will finally begin this coming Monday!

Blessings and love to you all...golly I missed you!

Love to you~

Hi Rebecca- I am so glad you had a good time on your trip! It is kind of sad that Flagstaff has fallen to vacant buildings and the road has bypassed it. I love that you were able to act silly and get some pictures! You look wonderful, by the way. Your WW really paid off and I am proud of you. We are at a medical conference and just getting ready to wrap it up! Headed home shortly! xxoo Diana

Miss NanaD... It's Winslow that has fallen prey to vacancies and not Flagstaff. Flag is wonderful and busy and full of activity. LOVED IT!

Thinking of you...safe travels home!

Welcome back, Rebecca!

I stood in that very same spot! It was in 1994...I had just met my hubbin-to-be...and we were on our first trip together, following old Route 66. I don't remember the mural, though. Do you know when it was painted?

You look fab, girl! Keep up the good work!

Eagles are my favorite! Should say "our" favorite - well...then, there is Boston, but the Eagles are first and foremost.
Saw them in concert 2 years ago and they were FABULOUS!
Winslow, AZ? Who knew?
Thanks for sharing! I gotta go there! you had waaaayyyy too much fun without me!
:) Hugs. Karen

How FUN !!! I went there once ( being an ex-Arizona Girl :) ) It is cool, but small like most of the towns in the west. There just isn't enough commerce to keep the towns going in all of that heat. I am SO glad you were Blessed with some precious time away with your sweet man. You BOTH deserve every Blessing life offers :) Missed you !!! Hugs :) :)

Welcome back. Oh the Grand Canyon. That must have been a sight. We are going to visit Texas at the end of Sept and haven't decided if we are going fly or drive. If we drive we will be going to the Grand Canyon. I have never been. Yikes. I checked out the airfares for SW. Holy Moley. I cannot believe how much they have gone up!

Can't wait to see come more pics.
Hugs, Sue

Dearest Rebecca,

Welcome back home. You beat me for having been to the Grand Canyon. When we were a couple of times at a conference in Scottsdale, AZ we had an opportunity to fly over the Grand Canyon but we couldn't afford it than when we paid for the Royal Academy of our adopted daughter. Not a single penny tax deduction for the high tuition as it was out of the country. But we've made it!
Please do have a look at Pieter's work (1st big job since his open heart surgery) on the blogs about our Bedroom; Going Green for our bedroom and Our Green Bedroom on April 26 and 27. On the 29th he had his birthday so I am also behind in commenting...
Lots of love,

Mariette
