~SWEET KEEPSAKES FOR A SPECIAL BABY~

 ~HAND CROCHETED BABY SWEATER SET~

My Mother who is now closer to 80 than she is to 70 is amazingly talented.  I've shared with you before that most of all I've ever learned in my life came from her.  Sadly, one of the things I don't can't do is crochet.  I want to learn someday...just have so little extra time, but it IS on my 2-Do-List!
~LOVER'S KNOT~

About a month ago I learned one of my nieces was expecting her first bundle of joy and she's having a girl.  It's become a little tradition in our family to gift the mother-to-be with a hand-crocheted baby sweater set as a new baby keepsake.
 ~TINY LITTLE BOOTIES~

I still have the ones made for my children and they are very special to me.  I've kept them in pristine condition and one day I will pass them down...
~FRILLY LITTLE BONNET~

My Mom fashioned a darling little sweater, bonnet and booties and I just love how they came out.  I especially love the tiny embroidered rosebuds and minty green leaves...
~HAND EMBROIDERED ROSEBUDS~

In a day when so much is mass-produced it still does my heart good to see something lovingly made by hand.  Just about any of us can pick something up at our local Baby's-R-Us or Tarjay (Target), but to take the TIME to create something that takes hours and hours to do...well...
priceless...don't you think?

(Thanks, Momma!  You're the best!)

Today I'm off to swim with my Miss K (gosh...remember her???) at our local water park.  Can you feel my angst joy?
Yeah...I'm so happy about it I'm still in my PJ's...

Hope your day is wonderful.  I'll be slathering on anti-wrinkle cream sunblock by the truck-loads.

Love to you...

Oh these are just beautiful! I love to crochet, but it is something I don't do as often as I should. I love the Lover's Knot stitch, and did a pineapple table topper that that that stitch in it as well. I'd love to have a pattern for such a gorgeous sweater set...but I suspect that Mom doesn't have that any longer. Hugs!

What a beautiful piece of work. I am just waiting for my granddaughter who married a couple of years ago to have a baby. I have one ready for her. I am going to see shawki and tell her where she can find the patterns. Blessings

Oh, what a darling, exquite baby set!!! All hand made, the VERY best kind. Your mother did a beautiful job making it and I know it is something your niece will treasure for years to come. I had a couple of these sets for my new babies (who were born in 1956, 1957 and 1958...and 1965!!) A long time
ago when such things were more apt to be hand-made...I kept them, too.
I am with you on the swimming! LOL
My son has a gorgeous pool, put in last summer, and Sarah and Kathryn have BEEN asking me to go and swim
there. I did buy a suit...gosh, I don't remember how many years it's been since I had one on, but I have yet to get it wet!! HA HA
Maybe soon....
Enjoy your day with Miss K and with your new figure, I bet you look great in a bathing suit~~~
Love ya, Francy

I just know you will have the best time with Miss K at the water park today. Just think, you get to show off your new body!!
My mom is now 83 and used to crochet. I have all the blankets and baby things her hands so tenderly made for my son and daughter. Like your precious mom, mine can no longer crochet. Oh how I wish, but time takes it's toll on us all.
Beautiful Rebecca, just lovely, Char

My goodness Rebecca, your mother crochets' so beautifully ~ I can crochet, but nothing as lovely as what she can do. I'm still working on the little blanket for the g-baby, and should have it done in plenty of time before it's born ~ did you get the email I sent to you with her due date?

Oh, and I am sooooo loving those gorgeous bottles!! I want one!! :)

I hope you had a fabulous day with Miss K :)

Warmest hugs, Brenda

The "working with yarn" gene skipped me, but did go on to my Sarah. She taught herself how to knit and has made so many pretty things. She even sent hats to Nepal for the children last December.

Hi Rebecca, Your mother does such beautiful work. My husband's Aunt turned 100 years old and still crochets. Once you learn you don't forget. You have those beautiful keepsakes that you treasure. I gave the baby quilts to each of my kids that my mother made for them. The blocks were the size of a postage stamp. I feel so honored when one of my quilts is chose for a new baby. Have a great day. What a lucky baby girl! I can't crochet, either. My Mom, on the other hand, was awesome at it. I still have the sweetest little ice skating outfit she made for my doll, Valerie. She tried to teach me, but I was hopeless.

I'm with you on the swimming. I hate water...don't even like to DRINK it!

Truly beautiful heirlooms from the heart and hand -- nothing better for a little bundle of joy! Hope you enjoyed your day of fun in the sun and water!

How you must treasure the things that your mother crocheted for you. Lovely, delicate little handmade baby gifts, and sure to be treasured by the new mother.

My mother, now 82 years old, many sweaters, hats and booties for all 13 grandchildren and some of her great grandchildren too. One year for Christmas, our adult daughter took all of the photos from our albums, wearing the handmade knit things she had made over the years, and put them into a special album for Mother. It was a truly sweet tribute to her special gifts to all of the children.

Wouldn't it be sweet to pick up a newborn wearing this cap, booties & sweater set? Your mother's work is so intricate & beautiful. I remember when she had a set up for sale on Ebay years ago..
