~~~~~A BAG LADY TRANSFORMATION~~~~~ French Chic Clothespin Bag
 ~IT'S IN THE BAG~
Today I'm linking up with Kathleen at Faded Charm for White Wednesday!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE being part of this linky group and hope you'll check out all the other gals and their sweet offerings when you have time!
Now...a couple of weeks ago I visited a junky little haunt in Oklahoma City were I always find the most amazing things.  Years ago my momma-in-love would tell me to dig deep 'cause the puppy's at the bottom'
and she was right! (Even though I truly have no idea WHERE that expression came from OR what it means!).  Anyway, tis true, tis true!  The deeper I dig the more fabulous my finds.  I think I'll go most anywhere for a great deal on vintage junque!  You know it's my passion, right?
I'm just sayin'.... :)
~SWEET VINTAGE GRAPHIC~
In this case, however, this ever charming vintage clothespin bag was just hanging on a nail in a ratty-trap space that was full of rusty farm equipment.  Oklahoma has it's perks!  Wanna know how much it cost?
 ~INCREDIBLE VINTAGE CROCHET LACE~
  Yeah...I know you do!  So...I'll tell you!  FIVE BUCKS!  And that included the thirty-six wooden clothespins on the inside!
 ~ONE-TWO-THREE....THIRTY-SIX~
Now peeps...Miss Bag Lady was pretty NAS-TEE when I found her.  Looked like she hadn't had a bath in about, um..., let's say 75 years!  Argh!  First thing I did was bring her home and remove her old wire frame.
 ~TOP-STITCHED LACE IN PLACE~
Then I gave her a good soaking for two straight days in Oxy Clean.
 ~LAYERED THE LACES~
When she was finally air-dried she had this fabulous creamy white coloring and boy did I have big plans for her!
 ~I'M LA-LA-LA-LA LOVING HER~
Now...at first I was going to burnish some vintage soap-related something or other on the front of Miss Bag Lady's body, but I hit a little snag!  My Mr. AGPMan had to go out of town unexpectedly yesterday (yep...had to reschedule our Valentine dinner) and my computer isn't hooked up to the printer  needed for that kind of project (wrong ink!).  So...being the totally impatient person I am I decided to use my main Epson and print something out directly onto fabric.
 ~OLD SHEET MUSIC~
Great Graphics
I scrounged around in my files and came up with an amazing graphic of vintage sheet music.  I've had it for years and decided to re-scan it and clear out the background.
 ~OLD MILLINERY FLOWERS/BUTTONS~
I printed it out onto fabric and then tacked it to the front of Miss Bag Lady with a few vintage shell buttons.
  ~ALTERED GRAPHICS~
I gave her a little petticoat made of some fabulous vintage crochet lace, added a few old millinery flowers and some aging ribbon and now my new favorite girl is dressed to the nines! :)
 ~SWEET AGING HAT~
Now...one last thing.  Last week my hubbs and I went to a new  thrift store here in my town.  I can't even remember the name but it's on 2nd Street and Kelley in Edmond, OK, if you want to visit it.  Anyway...I picked up this sweet wicker hat for $5 and it still had the original $34.00 price tag from a store called STREETS.  The store closed about 20 years ago and I was excited to find it.  I removed the old black grosgrain ribbon and replaced it with some vintage faille ribbon in soft white.  I am LOVIN' HER NOW!
 Thanks for visiting me today.  I'm continuing to work on new product for my AGP Shoppe that is on a little hiatus and I'm also selling off a bunch of overstock on eBay.  I've been a busy girl, but I'm excited about what I'm doing and where I'm going!
Hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day...have a great Hump-Day, too!
Love to you...
Wow baby, I can't believe what you did with that old bag. Well, yes, I guess I can considering everything I have seen you do over the years. You never cease to amaze me though.
Now, about the impatient part......
Well, I'm just sayin. LOLOLOL
Moving along, I miss you terribly and can't wait to make up for our missed Valentine dinner. I am so lonely here in my hotel room, like always.
I love what you are doing with your site and your products. You are definitely the most talented person I know.
I love you and hope to see you tonight.
Oh, that has to be the prettiest clothspin bag around! I was drooling over it and then came to your print out of the sheet music...Portland, my hometown, is the City of Roses and the beautiful Rose Parade every June. How special to see that sweet sheet music. You have made my day! xo
I'm amazed how you find these sweet little dittys. I would have probably passed it up thinking what a nasty little thing and wouldn't have given it the time of day. Love what you did to it.
Well I think you were extremely lucky to find such a treasure with Miss Bag Lady. She is beautiful, I remember when my mom had a clothes pin bag and she had hand embroidered it, so pretty. The straw hat is also lovely. Thank you so very much for visiting my blog. Hugs...Lu
