Dear Friends...
Yesterday a dear friend of mine sent me this charming little story. I've read it before but since I'm still not able to type much I thought I would pass it along in hopes it will encourage you as it did me!
(Thank you, Brenda)
To update you on my hands...
I'm doing better now that my casts are off. Certainly a RED LETTER DAY for me! That said...much more healing must come before I will feel close to normal again. Every day I'm able to do a little more and I'm grateful for progress even in it's smallest form...
Thank you again for your thoughts and prayers...
SHIRLEY and MARCY
A mother was
concerned about her kindergarten son walking to school. He didn't want his
mother to walk with him. She wanted to give him the feeling that he had some
independence but yet know that he was safe. So she had an idea of how to handle
it.
She asked a neighbor
if she would please follow him to school in the mornings, staying at a
distance, in hopes he wouldn't notice her. The neighbor said that since she was up
early with her toddler anyway, it would be a good way for them to get some
exercise, so she agreed.
The next school day, the neighbor and her
little girl set out following behind Timmy as he walked to school with a neighborhood girl he knew.
She did this for the whole week.
As the two walked and
chatted, kicking stones and twigs, Timmy's little
friend noticed the same lady was following them as she seemed to do every day
all week. Finally she said to Timmy,
'Have you noticed that lady following us
to school all week?
Do you know her?'
Timmy nonchalantly replied,
'Yeah, I know
who she is.'
The little girl said,
'Well, who is she?'
'That's just Shirley
Goodnest,'
Timmy replied,
'and her daughter Marcy.'
'Shirley Goodnest?
Who is she and why is she following us?'
'Well,'
Timmy
explained,
'every night my Mom makes me say the 23rd Psalm with my prayers,
because she worries about me so much. And in the Psalm, it
says,"Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me
all the days of my life...",
soooo...
I guess I'll just have to get used to it!'"
The Lord bless you
and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you;
the Lord lift His countenance upon you, and give you peace.
May Shirley Goodnest
and Marcy be with you today and always!
Missing you~
Love to you...

This was cute Rebecca! Thanks for sharing! I haven't been very active in the blog world lately....and I don't know what is wrong with your hands. Did you have surgery? I guess I will do some reading to find out. Love, Linda

Rebecca, What a cute story. I'll have to tell my daughters this one. Be blessed.xo,Susie
This was so cute! I am glad you are healing and you are slowly getting back to yourself.
Blessings,
Amy Jo
I love that! Thank you.
Ahh, I really enjoyed that sweet story. Also reminded me of my mother letting me walk to kindergarten a mile away; she too being worried had me walk w a neighbor boy starting kindergarten too with his mother following us at a distance away so we weren't aware of her checking on us. Goodness, I think of my granddaughters and I wouldn't dare think of her walking!! My, how things have changed. :(
Looking forward to the return of Christ.
xoxo Carolyn
That is the cutest story- One I have never heard before. Saying a prayer for a quick healing for your hands, Rebecca- xo Diana
We all need His goodness and mercy to follow us! This is a darling way to remember that it does! Blessings and prayers for continued healing in your hands,
Dewena
Cute story! This has been a hard 5 days after losing our dog to kidney disease. (I have a tribute to him on my blog) This story reminds me that God is watching even through my pain.
I am so glad that your hands are "free" now. It must be such a relief.
I loved the story! I know healing goes slowly, especially for someone who is used to being busy! Stay warm, hope the cold weather that is here won't come your way. 12 degrees for the afternoon high makes for a cold feeling. I think I'll have to get a new big dog so it can learn to be my bed warmer. We never did let our dogs sleep in the bed-they were all so huge, we'd have been on the floor!♥♫
Dearest Rebecca,
Enjoy your time off as a luxury!
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Oh Rebecca.....I must send my apologies for not knowng about your hand surgeries. I've been a little out of the loop and not able to visit many blogs lately because of some health problems with my mother. I will definitely keep in you in my prayers tonight for continued recovery. Hugs to you, sweetie!

Hi Rebecca! Just wanted to send a quick note to wish you a speedy recovery. You are blessed to have such a loving partner to help you so much (even typing for your blog as you dictate) while you are recouperating! I wanted to give you something to think about if you already haven't: Instead of wishing this "downtime" away as you are healing, why not use it as a gift to really think about the things you never have the time for because you are usually so busy "doing" and rushing around? Not just reading and watching movies, but just spending a little time thinking about "stuff." Sometimes the greatest blessings come in the strangest forms! (I'm speaking from experience!) Sending my best to you and your family for a wonderful 2013!!!!
I haven't heard it quite like that. Sweet. Hope you will be yourself again real soon.
Love and Blessings.
That last blessing is one of my favorites!
A darling story Rebecca, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!
xoxo
