~FIRST DAY IN HEAVEN~

William Edgar Elliott
March 4, 1930 - February 20, 2014

My beloved father went home to be with Jesus early yesterday evening after more than a decade long battle with dementia.  Although our hearts are broken, we rejoice he is now in heaven encircled by those who have passed on before him and the God he has loved so much.
To those of you who have shared in my heartbreak over the years, read my writings, sent notes, left comments, made visits, etc., I can't begin to thank you.  Your kindness to me and my family has helped forged friendships that will last a lifetime.
Please pray for us as we plan the going-home-celebration of my daddy's life.  It is our hope and deepest desire to make him proud.

Love,

Oh sweet Rebecca... I am saddened, yet have a feeling of calm for all of you now that your sweet daddy has gone home... please please always know he is still your same, sweet daddy... that will never change... just a bit farther away now in Heaven... yet always with you in your heart... and he is very proud of his little girl and through the years I have felt the love you have for him in every word you have written... you will miss him terribly... my daddy has been gone 7 years this Thanksgiving... it seems like forever since he hugged me, yet other times I know without a doubt he has his arm around my shoulders right that moment... sending all my love and prayers for all of you... My heart goes out to you in your loss. I still miss my wonderful father, though he went to be with our Heavenly Father many years ago. Isn't it beautiful to know that he is now in heaven, celebrating with Jesus, and that he can praise Him all the time, because he has been made new again? What a beautiful consolation!

I can only say I am so so so sorry, Rebecca, but yet with a kind of rejoicing that he is beyond all pain and suffering. Dementia already "took him" in a way-as it did with my Mom. I understand what you are feeling- xo Diana

You know you are in my heart and prayers today. It is sad, but he doesn't have to suffer anymore. It is always hard,in time the pain will become easier for all of you. It was that way when I lost my dad many years ago. God is there with us every step of the way as you well know. Take care. Many Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.

This is always such a hard time in our life's to let go of our precious parents.
There is no words I can say to comfort you other than what you have already said, about your Dad joining in heaven with others who have gone on before him.

May peace come to you

God Bless and keep you- I am right there with you in relating to the grief..It is my Husband of 54+ years that was buried 6 months ago Today. I am so sorry you had to deal with this sadness for such a long time! Our's was more than a year but no issue of dementia-just Cancer. If your Mother is ever interested you might direct her to my blog with related posts placed randomly starting in mid 2012 -now. I sense that she like myself has the comfort and wise counsel of loved ones.Particularly for a wife which is the only experience I have..This is a New World for her.

Dear Rebecca, please know that you have been in my prayers and will continue to be as you move through this difficult time of planning for the going-home-celebration of your dear daddy. Even though you know that he has gone on to his 'reward' and you will see him again someday..there is still a hurt that only our sweet Jesus can heal.
Big hugs to you...you will be in my prayers and heart. xxoo

Rebecca,
Hugs to comfort sent your way...I miss my Father. The 22 anniversary of his death is in just a few days. You never stop missing them, and the first few years are the most difficult. Write down all your good memories, they help so much. Hey, now your Dad can meet MY parents!
hugs,
Betsy

The days ahead will be the hardest. The homegoing celebration will be bittersweet. If like daddy's, there will lots of tears, but mostly tears of joy and memories of a life well lived. There was much praise and worship as the choir sang and our praise team led in Light of that City. My heart hurts for you. God will give you grace and you'll be able to rejoice that he is whole with a clear mind in the arms of Jesus. The days ahead will be hard and you relive every moment. Don't let the enemy put doubts and regrets in your mind. Just let Jesus comfort and give you peace. Prayers for you my friend.

He no longer has dementia that took him away long ago and he is in no more pain. He will always be with you in your heart and you will join him someday....what else can we ask for?
