~INDIAN SUMMER DAYS~
Just like all of you we are feeling the change of the seasons here in Oklahoma. I woke up early this morning and could definitely feel a cool down of the temps and even noticed several of my most favorite garden shrubs are beginning to die back...
We have lots and lots of big (and old!) Oak Trees on our property and when Autumn just begins to knock upon our door their leaves start to turn color and slowly blanket the ground. Seems we were racking up and bagging leaves (from our yard and everyone else's, too) for more weeks than it seemed they lived on the tree's branches. My two children would run and play in big pyramid shaped piles for hours and to this day watching them chase each other around the yard remains one of my dearest memories. Now that they are both grown and gone clearing the grass isn't nearly as much fun as it use to be.
~OUR NEW BLACK SHUTTERS~
Mr. AGPMan now does most of the work with a high-powered gas blower and it seems like in the blink of an eye it's all done (until the next day). :) I never sometimes help him... :)
As a family we've always celebrated "Pumpkin Days" in style and this year will be the same. Our front porch is decorated in traditional Fall colors and I'm loving how our newly installed black shutters look against all the muted oranges and yellows...
~DRESSED FOR FALL~
Still...I'm feeling a little bit melancholy as I bid farewell to Summer 2010 even though I am looking forward to to what has easily become my very, very favorite time of the year...
~
Now...as long as I remember that it's during the last three and one half months of the year that I gain those TEN extra 'pumpkin pie pounds' (and then avoid doing so) I'll be sure to enjoy every single moment of it...
~MAYBE THIS WILL HELP?~
Love to you~

Have a lovely Sunday!
Your porch and bench look delightful. I love the pumpkins and Fall. I never do Halloween, but like you - I do Fall and it can stay until Thanksgiving time. Living in So.Ca. I don't have the changing of colors like you, but I am always most anxious for summer to be over. It is 114 degrees here this afternoon and believe me I can hardly wait until it starts to cool down.
Hugs....Pauline
I love the black shutter. They match the shingles on your porch...very nice.
I have to admit summer is over. Today it's raining and it is supposed to last until Wednesday. That is how fall usually is around here, rainy!
I hope you are having a nice weekend, Rebecca!
xoxo

Your bench and black shutters looks wonderful!
Oh how I remember the days of our children jumping in the pile of raked leaves...... great memories.
For now.... for me..... fall is a sad time.....I'm hoping my mood will lift and I'll enjoy the changing of the seasons. God is so good that HE gave us a variety of seasons to enjoy.
Love,
Oh, yes, your pumpkins look beautiful against the backdrop of your black shutters. Perfect fall colors!!
I understand what you mean about putting on the weight during the last three and a half months of the year. I maintain my weight during the warm months, but once October (and the cold weather) rolls around, I put on about two pounds a month...until about April, when the dreaded winter is over. Unfortunately, I don't get all those pounds off in the few months that are available before it's cold again.
Hope you're having a lovely weekend, my dear. Have a wonderful Lord's Day tomorrow.
Love,
Patti
We live smack dab in the middle of a bunch of trees! The leaves are already falling here! I am still having trouble getting into the pumpkin spirit because it is still HOT here!
Enjoy your evening and the rest of your weekend! HUGS!
How beautiful your fall front porch is. I love this time of year, too. Pumpkin pie pounds, huh? Don't even want to think about those yet. ;0
I'm feeling the same, some sadness to see summer go, but also enjoying the cooler temps and pretty fall colors. I've been spending alot of time getting the house cozy for winter.
Hello Rebecca... your Autumn decorations look so very pretty and I love your shutters painted black... Autumn is my very favorite time of year and I love it when we go on our Nature walk and hear the crunch of leaves underneath our feet... I just want Indian Summer to last forever... xoxo Julie Marie
Your fall vignette looks so pretty and the front of your home is really lovely! I now enjoy my grandchildren jumping in the leaves...seems like yesterday that I was the one doing the jumping!~Patti

I love your house, and your little pumpkin arrangement. I love fall, and the only reason I ever hated for summer to end was when I was teaching. Now I'm retired so I have a whole different outlook. LOL I just love cooler weather no matter when it comes.
Happy Fall!
I love the little display with pumpkins for sale, so cute and sweet. I am ready for fall, it will be wonderful watching all the leaves change. Have a wonderful sunday.
Smiles,
Kim
I always like the seasons to change, it is just about time when they do ;) Lovely pictures!
Hugs, Lisa
Your home looks so lovely! Love the Fall colors. Kit
Oh Rebecca, all your fall decor is so pretty and your shutters are perfect! I know about the pounds....my problem is that I still have not lost last year's extra pumpkin pounds...can't add any more to that!!! *scream** LOL! You know, I am not too worried though!
I love love the art of the little girl raking the leaves...I think the artist is Betsy Pease Gutmann, isn't it? I bought two big beautiful, special books for my girls when they were little of her art with little stories and poems in it. They read it at bedtime. I LOVE her art!
I also have such special memories of leaf raking with my girls....memories that are forever locked in my mind for enjoyment!! :)
Have a wonderful Sunday...I better get to bed or I won't make it to church in the morning!! :(
Blessings & Hugs,
Carolyn ~ Cottage Sunshine
Hey Rebecca- You get cool weather in Oklahoma this time of year? Who knew? I love your black shutters! I think they look great...and the front porch of your house looks absolutely wonderful. It looks like I could come and sit and have a cup of coffee out there and feel perfectly at home!
What kind of tree is that just to the right of your porch? It has such skinny trunks and then has a full lush top. It is really a nice decorative tree. And I think those are boxwoods in the front by your bench? We have a hard time with boxwoods here...the temps are just a bit too cold for them.
I am now getting anxious to get my Fall stuff out too. I have 3 more work days in this run and then I am hauling all my stuff out. I still don't even have my flag changed out front. What WILL the neighbors think? lol
Have a blessed Sunday- Hugs- Diana
Your home is just so pretty!! The new shutters are perfect!!
Love, Love, Love IT! You inspire me! Lin
Your home looks beautiful! Fall is my favorite time of year.

I'm sure we can all relate to that 'end of year gaining' you are talking about. =)
