~SIMPLY LOVING WHITE~

 ~INCREDIBLE VINTAGE HOTEL CABINET~

Most of us who love a softer color pallet know that as a neutral, white flourishes with any color.
 ~PERFECT FOR HOLDING VINTAGE LACE~

I've loved decorating with whites for a very long time now and for the past couple of months have been working behind the scenes on my own studio.  More and more I'm scaling back my pink (don't freak...I STILL love it and always will!), opting instead to continue using it as primarily an accent color!

~GREAT FIND FOR $25.00~

I painted my studio walls out from their pale muted pink to my favorite Cottage White (Behr Paint from Home Depot) and I'm loving how the change has transformed the space.
~WALLS COTTAGE WHITE by BEHR PAINT~

Everything is lighter and brighter and full of calm.
 ~BEFORE A 'LIGHT' RE-PAINT JOB~

Although much of the room remains the same, I've also changed out a few other key things.  I've DRASTICALLY DOWNSIZED the amount of fabric I have as I no longer have the desire to make those huge cottage style pillows or transform really large, bulkier finds...not for resale anyway (too expensive to ship!).  I've decided I only want to spend my time making things I absolutely love (Cottage Pillows, Sachets, Gathering (Train) Cases, Painted Pretties, Decorative Bottles, Cards, etc.)...

I finally got around to working on a tiny little project that first drew me in last summer...
~TREASURED FINDS WITH A NEW PURPOSE~

Last July I blogged about some of the amazing finds I discovered while tag sale shopping here in Oklahoma.  In that post I showed you a fabulous antique mail/key cubby I stumbled upon during one of my jaunts.  Over the weekend I finished the second of two LIGHT coats of paint (skipped painting the inside!) and my Mr. AGPMan lovingly hung her in place!

Didn't it turn out wonderful?
The cubby is perfect for holding antique, vintage and older laces and I'm not even close to cramming her to capacity!  Can't wait to show you what else I've changed in the room....that's coming soon!

Hope you are having a great Tuesday....more white transformations to show you later this week!

Love to you...

That cubby thing is wonderful. It looks like it holds quite a bit. I like the idea of calm. I could use some of that myself!!

Rebecca-It is absolutely beautiful. I love that mail rack. It is the perfect storage solution for your laces and trims. I have to say that I keep going back to white too. I have had color over the years but always love returning to the purity of a whie pallet. This house is a far cry from that but someday it will return...maybe not in this house...but in the next...xo Diana

Rebecca, I always dream of walking through your beautiful home when I read you blog. I can just imagine all the beautiful things that you have in your home. I too have decided it is time to downsize in a lot of things, not just in the materials. Guess I am getting older! I miss being on here like I was before, but looks like it may be a while before I am back on.

What a great cubby.... I love, love, love, white too and cannot wait to see all of your white transformation!!! I've been going through my material too, had way to much, it feels good to get rid of some things, especially when my husband says that I'm a horder! I refuse to be a horder, so I'm going through alot of things and scaling down! Have a wonderful week!

Boy is this "cubbie" beautiful. I Love the idea of the dark wood against the tim painted Behr White. It offers such a lovely contrast to showcase all your vintage laces. You must have a corner of the market on the trims.

Thanks for sharing your "re-do" can't wait to see the rest

Love what you have done with all of this in your "space".
My home too is almost all neutual colors...some call it "vanilla pudding"...not me. I call it wonderful.
Thank you so much for coming by and leaving a message.

Awesome job, Rebecca! I love all the white you're introducing! I bet you had to cut off the top of your paintbrush to paint inside those cubbies, didn't you? lol! It looks beautiful!!! :)

Hi Sweetie. I love the white too. That cabinet is beautiful and so perfect for holding your fabrics. Shipping has gotten crazy, just as food and everything else has. People have less money to spend than ever and yet prices are higher than ever. It certainly seems upside down to me.

You know I've heard about the wildfires in California for years and really had no conception of how bad it must be. Well these are no where near my home (at least 45 mins and further away) and it's awful. Between all the fires, floods in the Midwest, earth quakes, tsunami's, mud slides and more all over the world, it's pretty scarey to me.

You post to your father was so touching. Thanks for sharing it and the photos with us.

To Rose: I laid the cabinet on it's back after painting the outside frame. The with a large sponge roller I just LIGHTLY went over the dividing pieces of wood...just barely touching/pressing as I rolled. The tiny bit that did get on the inside was easily sanded off once the piece was 'shabbied up'! :)

Hugs to you~

aMAZing!!! What a wonderful transformation for the cubby.
Cottage White is my all time favorite. Every room in my house might be a different color, but Cottage White is on my ceilings, doors and is the base for all my cupboards, kitchen table and chairs. The best!!

Oh how wonderful! I LOVE it...and wish it were mine....however, my itsy-bitsy sewing room is just toooo darn tight to fit another thing in there. I'm planning on finishing it for the Where Bloggers Create party.... Hopefully I'll GIT 'ER DONE. :-) Hopefully, you'll be adding your pretty rooms to the party too. I'd love to see them again..... Toooo delish.

Yep, I so relate to the "less money" upbringing. I don't regret one bit of it though. That's why I learned to do all the things I love. My parents didn't have much money for toys, so I learned to make mine. My Mum told me over and over how I upholstered furniture out of milk cartons for my dolls. I really don't remember, but she was amazed. I do remember spending hours cutting and hand sewing things.

My dad owned a service station with his brother. They had five kids...we had two so they got the larger share of the income....(which was challenged to say the least) and then, if someone came into the station, low on cash, my dad would give them some.... :-) He didn't care one whit about money....and figured if he had some, he'd just share it.

I still love "The Thrill of the HUNT" and making something pretty with my finds..... nothing like a smidge of paint and fabric to make this chickie happy..

LOVIES ...and huggies to you..

Hi Rebecca
Other than the bedroom for accent, not a lot of white here but...I do love looking at what others have in this crisp, clean colour.
Recently saw on a blog a kitchen in oak like mine painted white and it looked fabulous. I don't know if I could ever take a bold step like that though.
Your white transformation is really nice and I like the name 'Cottage White', good choice.

Rebecca, You must be reading my mind. I too am redoing my sewing room although it was never a beautiful as yours. I've just gotten tired of so much fabric hanging around doing nothing. Guess I'm just getting old and tired. I'm turning the room back into a bedroom as it was intended. There a two huge closets and what will fit in there including my sewing table will be it. Such a refreshing feeling to finally make the decision to rid my life of all this STUFF. Hurry, hurry we want to see your beautiful transformation. Although I thought it was already perfect, I understand why you have a need to be more organized and to get down to just the things you love to do. I feel the same way, I will never stop sewing-been doing it since I was 5 years old!! Long time!! Judy

So pretty. I love white. You have made me like pink more than I used to because all your pink is so pretty but white will always be my fav. My son's girlfriend wore a pink prom dress and I thought how you would of loved it. She loves pink too.

LOVE your cabinet painted white, and great idea not to paint inside. It is always so hard to get it looking nice, and filled with laces and sweet treasures, you never even notice it is dark.
I also LOVE seeing your comments. They always make me smile and feel blessed.

Happy Hunting friend. =)

I love that cabinet. I could use 2 whole walls of them. Then just maybe I could find things when I wanted them instead of spending all my time looking. You are so blessed to find things like that. I never find them when I also have the money to buy them with. I have to take you shopping with me sometime.
Hugs and God Bless you and yours.
