~~~~~CREATING A GATHERING PLACE~~~~~ ~*WHERE BLOGGERS CREATE III PARTY*~ MAKING DREAMS COME TRUE
At the top of the stairs in my
La Chaumière de Briarwood...
 Just to the left and past the door of my master bedroom...
 You'll find a sweet little room where I spend the majority of my time...
 ~*WELCOME*~
~~PLEASE COME IN~~
It’s behind this freshly painted, crisp white door I'm blessed to live out the best of my childhood dreams...
 It is within these simple and uncomplicated walls I'm able let my imagination soar and allow a lifetime of thoughts and ideas to take flight...
 It's truly "A Gathering Place" of sorts for all the deeply rooted passions and unwavering thoughts that continue to live inside my heart...
 My spirit thrives here...
 Surrounding my senses with vintage beauty, much of it created long ago by loving hands, inspires me daily...
 I take great pleasure in honoring the work of those who've lived, learned, taught and shared before me...
 I pray to waste-not each of their talents...
 Whether working with old laces, vintage images, ephemera or antique graphics, I strive daily to create with joy and purpose…
 I love antique clothing made with French lace…
and transforming baby shoes into keepsakes...
 Vintage ribbon…
 Vintage Trims...
  Lacy Christmas stockings...
Baubles, bangles and beads…
Vintage buttons and bells...
 Fragrant sachets and pillows...
And working with artwork painted long before my time...
I love vintage sewing goods...
Jars, bottles and all things glass!
I have a weakness for beautiful fabric...
And more fabric!
Old flowers make me swoon...
Vintage hats with millinery roses, too!
I absolutely adore my easy-to-use Euro Sewing Machine....
But my commercial home JANOME Rocks the house!
 Not sure anything will ever surpass my WHITE Serger!
I listen to great music stored behind these cabinet doors (especially great during the summer when I'm working on Christmas!)
It's also a great place to store my blank paper goods for card making...
Did I tell you I love vintage lace?
Oh yeah...I did!
Jars of old buttons and rolls of vintage ribbon just call out my name...
(Rebecca!  Get over here and save us from, um, well...that other lady that wants us!!)
Custom woven labels are the best!  I've had these for over 15 years now...
Printable fabric changed our world, didn't it?
Vintage lighting sets the mood!  It's a must have for me...but, these days I have to have a lot more of it...
I'm forever on the lookout for vintage buttons on their original cards...
And little containers to hold all my finds...
(And no...it doesn't ALWAYS look this cleaned up!  Are you kiddin' me???) :)
My life is blessed.  I know it.
I was inspired to create early on by watching my talented Grandfather...
and his amazingly gifted daughter, my Mother,
work their magic with paint and brush...
Not to be outdone, my Grandmother, uncomplicated and direct, taught me to stitch a fine seam...
My Father, deeply connected to the earth and all her beauty, gave rise to my love of language and the written word...
My Children, birthed when not much more than a wee girl, instilled within me true strength and courage.  Assisted by the Most High, they remain my proudest accomplishment...
My beloved, Steven, without your daily encouragement, praise and belief in me, without your support and love when others doubted (or said "Get a real JOB!"), I'd have surely failed.  Because of you my dreams have lived on...
You are the greatest of all my loves.
You are my hero.
And to God...thank you for...
EVERYTHING!
~~*~~
Thank you, Karen, at My Desert Cottage
 and the entire crew over at
 WHERE WOMEN CREATE
 for allowing us all to showcase our studios, craft corners, cubbies and table-top spaces.  It's because of you our creations and our passions have a greater chance to live on and on...
For PINK SATURDAY I've linked up with Miss Beverly of How Sweet The Sound!  Please stop in a say hello to all the pink lovin' gals out there!   You will surely be inspired!
Thank you all for stopping by!  You bless me so much!
Love to you...
Dearest Rebecca,
A very nice post about your PASSIONS; yes plural because your heart always shows your religion and your family too! You have done so well and what a treasure you got on ribbons, buttons and fabrics; like a specialty boutique it looks like.
Oh, you are so right about needing more light these days... I was sewing with black silk early in the week and that was a challenge to SEE. But I managed but the age is giving us away. Never mind, the addiction to this crafting stays forever with us.
Lots of love,
Wow baby, When we drug, (and I mean drug since I could barely lift the oak monstrosity), that old piece home with all the cubbyholes, I never dreamed it would work and look so well with all you vintage lace. Of course you knew, like you always do, what the finished product would be like. That ole artist's eye of yours.
I love you so much and I am so proud of you and what you create. I just don't know how you do it, but then I have never figured out how you play the piano without knowing a stitch, pun intended, of music either. That's my baby! :-)
Your room looks so warm and inviting and now it is more functional than ever. What a great job you have done. Keep up the good work and keep those creative juices flowing.
Love,
me
Sweet Rebecca, Thanks for visiting me earlier today. I'm making my rounds now... :) I've cried at only one other blog post, but yours for multiple reasons. First, because everything is beautiful, second, because your love for Jesus is evident in each and every word you speak. I prayed for Pam, touched her precious face while doing so; and don't know why, just cried more. :( Crying is good though, when it's from the Lord; and I'm sure it was. Your favorite song, "It is well with my soul", is one of my favorites too. I share a passion for Parisian things, as you do...and vintage finds, old buttons, fabrics...only your inventory is much greater than mine. :) I'd like to get to come back and visit you...I work a full time job for a bank, so my blogging isn't as frequent as I'd like. But, you're definitely someone I'd like to visit when I do. Down to each piece of lace in your possession, you are giving it life to live on...and I am blessed today as a result of coming to visit you. ~Merci Rebecca, you are "Precious" in His sight...and mine too from a blogger's view... ;)
Sweet Rebecca, just got your note! :) I'd like to think this is another one of those "Godincidences" in life. With HIM, there are no coincidences! ;) I know we will become friends as we go back and forth from GA to OK using this unbelievable blog to blog world. I'm going to pull out my past Romantic Home magazines this afternoon and look up the articles you are featured in. Can't wait to see your pillows ~ How fun! My girlfriend, Kathleen Ellis, a fellow blogger and interior decorator was also featured in RH a number of times... You take care...enjoy your Saturday and may HE bless you ever so much today! :) xoxo ~CC Catherine
I am so going to try and copy some of your craft room, I just love it!
I love the beautiful painted pictures you have created, they are just awesome!
I know, I have a better suggestion, I will prepare my guest room ready for your arrival and you can stay a while and give me tips on how to decorate my craft space!!! What time would you like to arrive?
I have been trying to comment here, but I have been in a hotel room for many evenings, and everytime I visited, my husband was right there and the music was disturbing his quiet, or his sleeping in, so I would click out of it and thought I will come back. Wow, what can I say. Your creative studio is amazing and I love the feeling it evokes when I had the tour. You know sometime, you and I are going to have to swap something. Love Love it!
You have such a wonderful collection of beautiful vintage supplies to work with and you've organized them so creatively. But what really sets your space apart is how it's such an expression of yourself ..... 'childhood dreams', 'adore' your sewing machine, 'Janome rocks the house', 'love vintage lace', family inspiration! I haven't been very far around the WBC party block but I don't think I'll find this much sentiment anywhere else.
Just beautiful!
Susanne.
