~~~~SHABBY COTTAGE CHIC MAKEOVERS~~~~ And Hand Painted Pink Roses
On Saturday I showed you some of the amazing finds I found while out estate and tag sale shopping in the great state of Oklahoma!  I hauled home some truly fabulous things and began transforming them almost immediately.  Today I'm showing you a sneak peak of the things that have been primed and base painted.
Here is a picture of those two vintage millinery stands I showed you on Saturday!  They were primed and then painted with Valspar Churchill Vanilla (close to Behr Paint Cottage White) before being gently distressed!  I haven't decided yet if I'm going to sell these...maybe one...maybe both...maybe NONE! :)  I love them so much and can think of so many things to use them for...  Jewelry comes to mind!
Here is the before shot!  The stands were actually neat 'as is' but the bottom of one was heavily corroded...so paint won out!  Love the makeover!
See this sweet little clock?  Transformed again with the same fabulous paint!  She was $1.  Here she is made over...
I love the vintage recipe box (or whatever it is!) below!
And this tissue box cover...
And this charming old brush...
 Look closely at the picture below...you'll see they've all been painted!  I'm working in my painting studio today and many of my finds will be graced hand painted pink roses!  Watch for them to be uploaded to my A Gathering Place Website starting this evening...
Didn't the old perfume bottle (in the middle) and the brush come out sweet?
I love these wooden hearts!  They originally had a 4th of July theme...  I think they will be perfect for Christmas...
Lastly...aren't these scrolly little signs the best thing evahhh???  I just love them...  Perfect for lots of little sayings...
OK Peeps!  That's it for today.  I'm already face-deep in paint and I'm lovin' getting back into my second favorite thing to do in all the world...
We actually had a TINY BIT OF RAIN during the early morning hours today.  Sooo refreshing!
Have a GREAT MONDAY!
Love to you...
The box with a lid that you refer to as a recipe box I think is a "salt box". Or at least that is what I referred to them as.
Hope all is well with you. Blessings.
Hi Rebecca,
Wow, what a great time you had..I want to go estate shopping with you guys!!!
I think the box that you are calling a recipe box was used for matches..I use to have one that belonged to Gary's Grandma..I don't know what ever happened to it thou...UMMM
Well anyway, everything looks great with the Rebecca touch, I really love the clock!
Have a sweet day and big hugs,Elizabeth
Oh I love scruffing around for bargains of old vintage items. Hats off to you...getting them all primed up and beautifully ready for a new life.
I have a downfall of NOT being QUICK about redoing. So your inspiration is good for me. Enjoy. Thanks for the lovely post.
Looking good!!! The things you found last week and are priming for a make-over, that is!!!
Since I am OLDER, I know that the little box you thought might be a recipe box is actually a salt box. I have one from my grandmother's. It is ceramic and has a sweet homey scene on it, with a wooden lid held in place by only two tiny nails!
I like the little stands, too, and am anxious to see what will develop out of them!! They are quite unusual and I bet you have a dozen ideas on how to transform them!!
It is pouring down rain here today, too....much needed, but sort of puts a damper on going to town and snooping at Marshall's....I am looking for more hot pink glasses to go with some melmac dishes I found..
they are pastel colored flowers on yellow, not what I remember them looking like when they first came out...vintage, they said, but not the 1950's, I don't think!!
Have a good week and maybe the rain will cool things down for a day or two
Love, Francy
I so love what a little paint can do! My favorite white spray paints are Porcelin and Ice Cream, both by Valspar. One is satin, one is flat, I don't remember which way 'round they are!
Now Following!!!
Hi Rebecca... oooh, you featured my pretty little garden sign!!! My email still will not let me send out, so I emailed you again from my other one... thank you so much for putting your special touch on that for me!... LOVE all of your other treasures too... I was going to tell you that is a salt box, but others already have... what a darling pink one that would make with your famous roses and the word "Salt"... xoxo Julie Marie
All of the treasures turned out so pretty. Great job. My hubbie is doing a redo of our dining table now. going from knotty pine shelac finish to matte black. Looking good, after we recover the seats, I will have to post before and afters. Have you painted anything that robins egg blue? I am trying to decide. Hope you have a wonderful week. Hugs, Kim
The little wooden box is a recipe box from the mid 60s. I got one for a wedding gift around that time. Love your blog.
