~~~~~~~AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL~~~~~~~ Happy 4th of July
~HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA~
I'm so excited to be able to take a few days off to spend time with my family and close friends!  I hope each of you have a happy and safe 4th of July!
I will be away until at least the 5th!
A couple of years ago I shared with you the words to one of my favorite "Americana Songs".  It was written by Woody Guthrie, a man I just happen to be related to.
(I love name dropping!!!)  :)
Here's the connection...Woody's father was the brother to my Great-Grandmother [Guthrie] Moore, which made him a first cousin to my Grandmother [Moore] Elliott!
I love the song so much I decided to share the lyrics with you again.
~THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND~
This land is your land,
This land is my land,
From California to the New York Island,
From the Redwood Forest to the Gulf Stream waters,
This land was made for you and me.
As I went walking that ribbon of highway
I saw above me that endless skyway,
I saw below me that golden valley,
This land was made for you and me.
I roamed and I rambled, and I followed my footsteps
To the sparking sands of her diamond deserts,
All around me a voice was sounding,
This land was made for you and me.
When the sun came shining, then I was strolling,
And the wheat fields waving, and the dust clouds rolling,
A voice was chanting as the fog was lifting,
This land was made for you and me.
One bright sunny morning, in the shadow of the steeple,
By the relief office I saw my people,
As they stood there hungry, I stood there wondering if,
This land was made for you and me.
Was a big high wall there that tried to stop me,
Was a great big sign that said, "Private Property,"
But on the other side, it didn't say nothing,
That side was made for you and me.
Nobody living can ever stop me,
As I go walking my freedom highway,
Nobody living can make me turn back,
This land was made for you and me.
HAVE AN AWESOME HOLIDAY CELEBRATING
AMERICA'S FREEDOM!
Love to you~
Dearest Rebecca,
Happy 235th Birthday of the USA. We've not celebrated the 4th of July as citizens from the beginning but this marks the 18th occasion and we're proud of it!
Lots of love,
Happy 4th of July Rebecca, This morning when I was trying to decide which song to post, this was my second choice-probably because I sang it so much in high school. Hope you have a wonderful holiday.
