Today I'm sharing with you a little project I've been working on behind the scenes...
A couple of years ago I blogged about gussied up Cadbury Candy Bars and how they were used for luncheon and wedding favors for a friend. The idea of customized/printable Candy Wrappers is certainly not new! I remember ordering some tiny ones (Hershey Miniatures) for my daughter's high school graduation several years ago. So much has changed since then and today the design possibilities are endless!
Several weeks ago one of my girlfriends asked me at the LAST MINUTE (love you, C!) to come up with three different wrapper designs for a wedding shower she was hosting. The bride-to-be loves anything and everything related to SEWING, CHOCOLATE, WHITE DECOR and VINTAGE so she wanted the ground of the wrappers either white or soft cream with related images...
Since I didn't have much time to play with new designs (like ONE DAY!) I opted to use some of my favorite existing graphics in hopes they would work...
I was surprised how much I actually loved the wrappers after they were finished. They were all done in whites and soft sepia tones with sewing and French accents. All were wrapped in clear cello and tied up with newer lace (a big spool found on eBay for CHEAP) and rayon ribbon.
Must share with you that I am totally bummed that Cadbury has now followed the ways of Hershey and Nestle Chocolatiers in redesigning their wrappers! Gone are the GREAT silver foil liners and paper wrappings we've been accustomed to for years! In their place are the plastic-ish wrappers seen above. Makes using self-printed wrappers a lot more difficult for the die-hard crafter. The UGLY purple ends stick out and I personally think they look horrible... We were able to hunt down enough candy bars in their original foil coverings by visiting several stores who still had a little bit older stock.
Today I'm linking up with Kathleen from Faded Charm for White Wednesday!
Always a fun party...hope you can visit!
Love to you...

If you ever have to do this again, open and re-wrap the candy in tinfoil before placing in your handmade wraps.
Wear gloves to keep everything nice and sanitary. Hugs!

Perhaps the reason for the change is these must be almost tamper proof? Or the company has too much money and needs to reinvest it for tax purposes? Glad your friend has such great ideas for you! Mighty cute!♥♫
Rebecca- Those turned out just gorgeous. I think they are beautiful. Too bad they changed the wrappings! xo Diana
Dearest Rebecca,
That is funny, Cacao en Chocolaad was from Van Dungen in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Only one hour driving from my hometown and even closer to Pieter's home town.
You are SO right on the ugly new wrappers. Impossible for creating such romantic wrappers like you did here.
Hugs to you,
Mariette
These turned out fantastic!
Oh what darling favors! Everyone likes chocolate but I bet they will save the wrapper!

All that done in one day? You are amazing! They are so beautiful and they have everything the bride likes in her life. I'd call that pretty much perfect.
I love your wrappers, Rebecca! What a great idea for favors and to make them more personal.
Dear Rebecca,
Your candybars are so lovely, almost impossible to eat the cocolat!! So lovely to see and nicely done!!
Hugs Sharon
I don't know if I have EVER me anyone as creative as you! You continue to amaze me! Girl, you are working on being in the Fortune 500 club one day!
These are beautiful Rebecca! Great job! Perfect with all of the things she loves!! You are such a great friend to do this!
Hugs,
Debbie
Rebecca, your candy bar wrappers are simply lovely and what a great
way to present them!! You will never cease to amaze me with the ideas you come up with!!! I am sure the friend who requested them was thrilled with the final results and the bride-to-be must have been just enchanted with them....all of the things she loves
printed on the wrappers. I bet they were quite a "hit" at the shower, and it would be hard for ME to break open this pretty candy and eat it! LOL
I hope you have a great weekend, whatever you plan to do....
Sending love with hugs to you,
Francy
Rebecca, I am in love with the candy wrappers. Will you be selling these? I am in a quilting class and would love to give these to the girls that quilt with me. I will find the candy bars. You know I love this blog....vera
