~VINTAGE GRAPHICS and a Sweet Old Book...Website News, too!~

BEAUTIFUL OLD KEEPSAKE
Marriage Record &
Housekeeping Hints

Shopping (aka: junkin', slummin' and antiquing) last week in beautiful Tennessee proved to be more exciting than I have words to say.  And, when you get to do it with you big sister it makes hunting for fabulous old finds all the more special.

Last week Lin and I visited a truly ramshackled beautiful dive shoppe close to the center of old downtown Dickson and it made my spirit soar.  Filled from top to bottom with 2die4 stuff, it was there I found this charming 100 year old keepsake book that originally came from the great state of Michigan.

(Has anyone from Michigan EVER seen a book like this???)
EXACTLY 100 YEARS OLD

Now, I'm a wheeler-dealer!  Still, I don't mind or COMPLAIN about paying my hard-earned money for things that are wonderful!  Even so, I nearly fainted when I saw the price tag inside the book's cover...which said: $25.00!
EEK!

And sooooo (while trying to be a tad bit coy) I aggressively casually asked the owner "How much for this book?"

Fully expecting him to quote the $25.00 price, my heart skipped a beat when he said
"Six Bucks!"

(WHOOOOOT! WHOOOOT!)

SOLD!
The book, intended to solicit business from newlyweds, is filled with amazing graphics!  I'm mesmerized by them as they will be perfect for lots of altered art paper goods for my Shoppe.
I love seeing the original pictures and graphics of furniture and vintage finds I eagerly search for today.
Isn't this bride beautiful?
I think this graphic is fabulous!
I've been  hunting for a drawing of old high-top shoes for sooo long!
And aging Chandy's too!
Gosh...CREDIT ACCOUNTS were pushed back then as well...
This is an advertiement for a beauty shop!  Boy have things changed!
A $100 down-payment was all you needed to secure this charming home!
Last but not least I found over 100 scrumptious sounding recipes tucked inside the book as a little bonus!  Man...we only THINK we use a lot of butter (LARD!) today...

I plan on scanning some of the best images in the book sometime next week!  I'll be offering many of them here on my blog so you, too, can enjoy using them in your projects!

Now...about my Website opening.  I originally hoped to reopen the Site tomorrow but I'm going to push it back at least one week! :(  I'm behind (gosh...wonder why!?) in snapping pictures of product and uploading them to the site. Presently I have over 100 items for your shopping/viewing enjoyment and it is taking longer than I expected to get everything done!  Plus, some of the fabulous things I found on my trip to Tennessee are dying to be included! Thank you for being patient with me!

More soon...

Blessings to you as you enjoy this gorgeous Spring day...

Cute find! I totally agree on the whole recipes thing. I often hear my Dad talk about how people would eat back when he was a kid and lived to be a hundred! How in the world did they do it?? All those calories, carbs and fats! My goodness!
You have such a lovely blog!
Seeya again soon!

Hi beautiful Rebecca! I'm so glad to hear you had such a great time with your sister. I too love your olden book you found! I love to see those graphics. I love the one with the mother on the floor and her little son threatening to throw the wash sponge at her. Isn't that the cutest thing?
Take care,
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Dear Rebecca, the book looks wonderful...can't wait for the recipes. Excited about your website also.

Thank you for taking the time to leave me a comment right after returning. Your words were so wise. Boy, this has been a battle ground for me but I think I have my head back on straight.

You are a dear.

Love you, Barb ♥

Rebecca my husband was raised in Detroit but probably wouldn't have noticed a book like that. It is awesome, such wonderful graphics. I love the bride also, so frilly and romantic. Can't wait to get in your website, I can't believe you have 100 items. I need to get a part time job to go along with my full time just to buy your treasures. LOL
I am dog setting my Moms schnauzer this weekend. I would love to come to go to the tea room. We will plan it soon. I started Weight Watchers again 2 weeks ago.
Have to save my 35 bonus points.

Hugs
Ginger

Oh my goodness.........that is a FIND! How I wish I had found it....BOTH of my parents are from Detroit. They actually grew up across the street from each other, isn't that just toooo sweet? My Mum actually liked my dad's little brother better. :-) But, my dad was persistent. He sent her an engagement ring while he was stationed overseas in the service...how could she say no to a Serviceman? They were happily married so I guess that worked. Way to go Dad! I'll watch for the prints.... How special.

Huggies!
