THE MAGIC BOBBIN BOX

 "LOVE NEVER FAILS"

If you've been a reader of my Blog for very long then you know I sometimes share things about my personal life.  I love to chat about my two kids, Brandon and Adrienne, and I love to share the muse that often surrounds my only grandchild, Miss K (she's about to turn EIGHT by the way!!!).  I  also love to brag about my hubbs of 32 years, the one I affectionately call my "Mr. AGPMan".  I'm not embarrassed or afraid to sing his praises because as I see it, we need more real men in this world who aren't afraid to love, honor and respect their wives.  And that means they must be willing at times to do jobs that aren't necessarily "manly" (it's all in the name of  "LOVE", right?).

OK...it's important to interject here that in spite of the fact I love to sew (and I do!  I do!) I absolutely cannot stand winding bobbins for my sewing machine.  I know it's silly.  Totally ridiculous even. But when I'm in the middle of a project and my JANOME runs out of bobbin thread (it's always when I'm top stitching, too!) I start whining!  I mean I LAMENT out-loud!  WAH! WAH! WAH!  Is it possible for some brainiac out there to manufacture a piece of equipment for the home-based-designer that doesn't run out of bobbin thread evahhhhhh....?????

Now...back to my guy.

For as long as I've known him (and it's been since I was 17), my husband, Steven, has been kind, loving and more than thoughtful.  A true romantic (and no, I don't mean that gushy, sloppy-kissy, over-the-top kind of guy who makes girls NUTSO!).  He's more like the boyfriend with the wickedly expressive eye that did all the right things while you are dating and then kept it up long after the wedding ceremony.

Am I making sense?
I know.  I know.  I'm blessed.
Even "lucky" some may say...

After a long day of sewing Christmas Stockings, Pillows and Sachets yesterday I fell into bed absolutely exhausted.  When my machine ran out of bobbin thread for the 4th time I finally decided to call it a day!  Now...as strange as it may sound to you (because I didn't say a word) I awoke this morning to find the "LOVE YOU" note (shown at the top) taped to the front of my sewing machine
and  next to it,
in what had been a completely EMPTY BOBBIN BOX
(now full of freshly wound bobbins),
I found this:

In case you can't read my guy's chicken scratch this is what the note said:

"Dear Baber,
I know how much you hate winding bobbins!  So, I present
you with the "magic bobbin box".  Just take out
a new one and place the empty one in the box.  It will 'magically' be full when you need it again.
Love, Me
(hope your day is "sew" wonderful) :)"

I'm back into the studio working on more things for my website...
Knowing all the while how fabulous I really do have it!
(Thank you, God!)

Blessings for a beautiful Tuesday.

Love to you...

That is so wonderful. My husband is like that also. If I need something done with the dollhouses I can go to him. (like cutting wood). He also doesn't complain about getting stuff at the store that most guys wouldn't feel comfortable buying. He even does alot of the housework. Funny as I am a housekeeper in a hospital. Years of taking care of his mom who had MS has taught him a lot. He is more sensitive to what others need than a lot of people. I am also very lucky! P.S. I HATE winding bobbins also. For some reason I usually have to rewind the first ones.

Now that is true love. I have a husband like that also and he became Mr. Wife when I was ill and did little things for me that I couldn't do after my surgeries, then it became a habit. Aren't we lucky. I love that you shared this with us, because that is a true love story and I needed to hear some good news today. Thanks Rebecca for sharing. Hugs, Pat

Aww... I shed a tear on this was as it reminds me of how good I have it with my own hubs who is always thinking of how to make my life easier, more ergonimicly correct as my RA advances & then the ocassional surprise unexpected. To love a man so is a plus but for them to give so much on the little things, that's a blessing. Not all men do such things. I love this post!! Good job MR. AGPman!! Hugs. Tammy

I KNOW I HAVE TOLD YOU THIS BEFORE, BUT I THINK YOUR STEVE IS A WONDERFUL, TRULY ROMANTIC GUY WHO DOES SUCH THOUGHTFUL, UNEXPECTED THINGS FOR YOU...LIKE THREADING YOUR BOBBINS!!
BERCH IS SORT OF LIKE THAT, TOO...
AND IT TAKES A "REAL" MAN TO DO SUCH THINGS, BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE TO LIVE UP TO SOME "MACHO MAN"
IMAGE IN THEIR HEAD, BUT ARE COMFORTABLE WITH THEMSELVES TO JUST DO LITTLE THINGS LIKE THIS FOR THE ONE THEY LOVE....YOU ARE A LUCKY GIRL!! bUT, I AM SURE HE THINKS HE IS A LUCKY GUY! SOMEHOW I SUSPECT YOU DO A LOT OF LITTLE UNEXPECTED,LOVING THINGS FOR HIM, TOO. THAT IS JUST THE WAY YOU ARE!!
HAVE A GREAT WEEK...I AM OFF TO LOOK AT YOUR NEW "PRETTIES" FOR SALE NOW.......BIG HUGS, FRANCY

Okay- So put the guy on eBay and elt the bidding begin. I'll start by offering my car! (He is DEFINITELY DEFINITELY (as Duston Hoffman said in The Rainman) a KEEPER). So...depending on where your bobbin goes we might also be able to refer to him as a SideWinder;>) Hugs-Diana

Oh wow, that IS a wonderful man (I don't like winding bobbins either)! Hmm, maybe I should whine a little louder...lol
This was certainly a blessing worth reporting, I enjoyed reading about it. Bless you!

That is so sweet! Even though my husband does a whole lot for me, he would NEVER touch one of my machines other than to load it in the car. LOL
Now one thing is does is fill my gas tank. I very seldom have to fill my car up myself.

Ahhhhh! Rebecca, thank you for sharing this! I know I have said it before on here but your sweet honey gives me hope that there are still good men out there!! My ex would not ever think to do something like that in a million years!! My mouth is still hanging open in disbelief that a husband would do something so sweet as that!! You have been blessed....and I am happy for you because you are just as sweet as he is!! :)

OK that's it this is so unbelievable! No one this wonderful exists. First, men never notice if you're tired. Men never notice if you're frustrated. What man even know's what a bobbin is, much less how to rewind it!! OK, I guess I will have to admit your are married to a "SUPERMAN" ...for real!!! I know you know how lucky you are. 4 bobbins, I lose my creativity way before I run out of bobbins. So, you would be "SUPER WOMEN"! I peeked at your website, your pillows are lovely!!!

Dear Rebecca, I have been so out of the loop of things since I got back from England but I just wanted to stop by and say a heartfelt "Hello".

What a wonderful thing to have, a magic bobbin box. These are the romantic gestures that truly mean the most. For me it has never been the flowers and such but the small gestures everyday that have meant the most.

Blessings to you and Mr. AGPman, I am keeping my fingers crossed for my hubby. We are not expecting a miracle of any sort but if a tiny one happens then we will be thankful, take care, Maureen
