~~~FRENCH CHARMING CHALKBOARD SIGN~~~ Le Café Français
 ~LE CAFE FRANCAIS~
Sweet Chalkboard Sign
Just after the first of the year I showed you a really charming chalkboard sign I picked up at Hobby Lobby on the cheap!  It was red and painted to look like an English/British Telephone Booth...
 ~ORIGINAL SIGN~
For over a week now I've wanted to upload pictures of where I'm at in the transformation process, but I've been sidelined with other things (like supervising watching  the wall removal in our La Chaumière de Briarwood).  The top of the chalkboard was repainted with hand painted roses and the word TELEPHONE was replaced with LE CAFE FRANCAIS (French Cafe).
 ~NO PINK ROSES~
(Gasp!)
I actually like the phrase, but not the font.  I used "French Script" and it always looks crooked to me (the lower case "S" drops) and that bugs me.  Soo...I may paint it out in the future and redo it with something else...we'll see!
~ROSES ROSES ROSES~
I'm seriously thinking of painting a "menu" of sorts on the black portion of the chalkboard.  I think this would look really sweet~  Maybe something similar to the menu on the right!!!
~FRENCH MENU~
Then again...I may just leave it blank~  Seems strange not to have anything on it tho...
Now...just a quick update on our recent makeover projects...
Tomorrow I'll be sharing with you some pics of the opened-up, newly braced load-bearing-wall and also a couple of photos on what we did to camouflage the 'uncentered-ness' of the window in our den.  It's ALWAYS bugged me and thanks to a tip I saw on CREATE TV I'm pretty happy with the outcome!
Hoping your Monday is awesome!
Love to you...
Rebecca, I love that the chalk board is not pink. As much as I love pink, I am more into the creams and latte colors now. So this chalkboard is right up my alley. Very pretty!
Good Morning! I have been waiting to see your blackboard all done up. I love it!!!! I think the Font looks great and don't mind the little dropped S at all. It looks perfect to me. Is it actually chalkboard paint? Can you use it as a chalkboard to "announce meals" or are you going to paint it permanently?
I can't wait to peek into your new room..off centered windows are always hard to work with! xo Diana
Your newly painted chalkboard turned out so pretty..even without
the pink roses!!!!! I was thinking as I read the post that maybe YOU could write in your menu each day on it...sort of like at a restaurant, and add "specials", like some sweets or a special teas for that day....it would be cute. Then on the other hand, you are such a busy lady, who has time to erase and change a menu daily??
I am just dying to see the new changes to your living area of your home. I know with Steve's expertise and your exquisite taste
in decorating, it is going to be something for a magazine lay-out!!!
I told Berch the story of how all of this came about lately, and he asked if your husband went along with your ideas happily...I said to him, "Don't you know Steve walks on water???" All of us blog followers of Rebecca's think so...
Berch said "he must be a very patient man"....and I said, "He loves Rebecca and he likes to make her happy, and he enjoys fixing up their home as much as she does"..That is why we followers think he is so great...we all wish we had a husband like that!!" Berch just shook his head...I think he is a tad jealous because I think Steve "can do no wrong"...LOL !!!!
Have a happy, fun week as you do what you love best!!
Love and hugs, Francy
To Miss Yaz aka: Francy
I am NOT going to direct my Mr. AGPMan to read your comments like I normally do. If he even gets a glance at your LOVELY WORDS then he will NEVAH EVAH come back down to earth. He may start to think he's 'da-man' and may eventually believe he can walk on wat-tah!
Thank would NOT be a good thing since he is, as we all know to be true about men, FLAWED! :)
Tee Hee Hee....
COULDN'T RESIST!
Love you girl~
As one that has used real chalkboards, as in a classroom, they are messy...chalk dust must be washed off. (We have white boards now). So if you paint something on that cute thing, be sure it's something you want to read all the time. I have enough dust from plain ole dirt flying through the air during the wind storms without adding more, as in chalk dust. But we know whatever you choose will be just right, as you have the "touch".♥♫
You did an amazing job in the transformation of the board. You have a great eye for seeing things differently than most people. I used to do decorative painting and your projects are encouraging me to see if I can still paint anything passable..you do great work.
I love the "new" color. But then I am not a lover of pink. I don't hate it, just don't use it much. This new color looks so fresh. I think it stands out in it's own way. Not bold, but a gentle presence. LOVE it!
Love this! As much as I love the color pink...this is a beautiful, soft and romantic alternative that is just as pretty and feminine.
R, your sign turned out better than I had imagined. I like it very much. Why not use it for you and steve to leave love notes to one another each day. Hubs & I have a wipe board we do this with as I'm usually sleeping when he gets in. AND we leave it out in the open as well. It rubs off on people. I love it none the less. Did you use the churchill on that or did you whiten up the roses. I love the look. Hugs.
LOVE the new chalkboard with creamy dreamy roses on it.
And the fix for your off center windows: we did that years ago too.
No one could tell and it looked so much better.
And behind curtain number three, the flat screened TV. =)
always such a pleasure to visit here.
Hello Rebecca!
Would you mind telling me what font your blog's subtitle is in? ("my thoughts, my cottage, my loves")
I'm working on a cute French weather chart for my two little daughters for our homeschool, and I'm looking for that French-style font! That one is perfect, but I don't know the name!
Thank you so much!
Blessings,
Tricia Basil
