~~~~~~~~HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012~~~~~~~~ Changes Are Coming
~WHAT'S GOIN' ON AROUND HERE?~
(Miss Mollie Watching From Afar!)
Happy New Year to you all!  I just had to pop in today and tell you I hope 2012 is your best year ever!
I believe it's going to be a wonderful year!!!
 ~OUR ORIGINAL TILE~
(Breakfast Room)
Before I get about my day I just have to share with you a tad of what's been going on around here at my La Chaumière de Briarwood...things have been a REAL MESS!
~OUR SON-IN-LOVE~
(Wall on Right is Coming Out!)
None of us can believe the beautiful weather we've had here in Oklahoma!  For weeks we my Mr. AGPMan planned on taking up our aging ceramic tile inside our home over New Year's Eve and so we feel like we've been really fortunate weather-wise.  We were able to swing the doors open wide and I was more than happy watching lots of the dust fly out (too bad not all of it did!).  I remember when my hubby first laid down the tile in May 1993.  We were sooo happy with it!  Now with all the changes inside our home it was time for it all to come up and before long our wood floors will be going down!
~GOING WELL SO FAR~
(Cleaning As They Go)
Like I said the weather has been incredibly fabulous in Oklahoma and I'm more than thankful for days when the sun is shining and the snow and ice stay away!  Our temperatures have reached to almost 70 and that is unheard of this time of year.
 ~SO MUCH WORK~
(Our Entry)
Being able to keep the doors propped open while experiencing an interior dust bowl was incredible!  More warm temps are expected this week and that makes this native Cali-Girl very, very happy!
 ~MY MR. AGPMan~
(hardest working guy I know)
When we were quoted $4 per square foot to have the old tile taken up.  I thought that was really high until I saw firsthand how much work it was.  It took my guy and our son-in-love, Micah, ten hours to remove our breakfast room, kitchen, pantry, downstairs bath and laundry room tile...  It was grueling work and I now believe it's worth every single penny hard working men charge to do this kind of labor!
 ~WORKING SUN-UP until SUN-DOWN~
~KNEE PADS A MUST~
 ~AND FACE-MASKS~
 ~OUR ENTRY~
When the guys got to this point they were more than exhausted!  Even after all the tile was taken up they still had to go back over the concrete to remove all the old grout.  By the time the evening hours came, they had cleaned up, eaten dinner, etc. they were ALMOST too tired to celebrate the New Year!
But...we did anyway!
~ENOUGH OF THIS~
While all the very LOUD machinery was in play our little Miss Mollie found a place on the sofa and decided to sleep.  I've never quite figured her out!  I had to give her a bath first thing this morning because she was covered with gritty dust...
I'll be spending most of my hours today cleaning up my home!  Parts of it look like a war-zone!  There is still much to do before our new wood floors are installed, but I'll keep you up as the major changes play out!  It's all exciting!!!!
Happy New Year to you all once again...  More coming soon!
Love to you...
That first picture of Miss Molly really made me smile! She is adorable!
How lucky you are to have two such hard working men. Your tile was beautiful but I'm sure the wood will stunning. Don't work too hard today.
You are going to love your hard-
wood floors....after the dust settles!! You are so lucky to have
not only your hubby but you SIL able to do all this work themselves.
Believe me, it cost many $$$$$$$$$ when you have to have it hired out
done...I know first hand!!!!!
Your Yorkie is darling...our little Morkie Jolie almost died the week before Christmas and was rushed to the LSU (in Baton Rouge) small animal hospital and put in ICU.
After a bone marrow tests and many blood tests, they determined her immune system is attacking her red blood platelets and she had zero count....long story...we got to bring her home the night before Christmas Eve and have been watching
her VERY closely ever since. She has auto-immune-defeciency disease
and is on steroids for the rest of her life....the doctors at the hospital did not want us to take her out of town in case an emergency arose and she might need a blood transfusion, etc. and no place to find a facality of this kind just anywhere...so we just stayed home for Christmas, in an undecorated house, just thankful we had our little doggie home and alive.....
"talk" soon.....xoxoxoFrancy
You are going to be so happy with the hardwood! I bet the house will feel "warmer". Tile always seems to feel cold to me. Pretty though. Your yorkie is so beautiful!! Happy New Year to you. Best wishes and great health in the New Year.
I am so happy that you are finally getting the new wood floors you have been longing for. We have lived in so much construction for so much of our married lives...moving from house to house, rehabbing, selling and then doing it all again. I do believe that this next move will be our last-our retirement home of choice.
Blessings to you and I can't wait to see it all done up Rebecca style- xo Diana
Happy New Year to you sweet friend!
What work it is to remove the tile, but how fabulous will it be once the hardwood floor is in! Can't wait to see pics once it's all finished...I know it will look great! I'm hoping that we will Finally get to put new tile in our bath this year...I'm thinking of a pretty grey, as it will work beautifully with the white wainscotting in there...just have to figure out what color to paint above it? Any ideas? Hubby says not pink, lol. But there WILL be accents of pink though :)
Warmest hugs, Brenda
That thing that looks like a jack hammer is quite the tool!! Having lived through a little bit of home work, I'm sure there will be dust in places you never thought there would be! But, how exciting!!! You know me, I'm impatient and want more pictures right away, and I don't even live at your house! Have fun (watching)!!♥♫
We took out carpet and put in floors last spring. What a mess! They pulled up the old floor in the kitchen. It had 2 layers, and it took them a day and a half to get them up.I'm sure enjoying my new floors though.
Happy New Year!
Dearest Rebecca,
Ouch, that was quite a job and still a lot of dust being inhaled by your two worker bees! The filter does help some of course. So glad you're into the cleaning mode now. Happy 2012 to you and it looks like there will be quite some happy changes.
Love to you,
Mariette
So excited for you, Rebecca! You're going to love your new floors!
Our doggers were just puppies when we installed our wood floors. Thankfully, we didn't have to take up any tile, but the air hammer used to nail down the wood was pretty loud. Bonnie and Clyde took it all in stride and I think that this is why they aren't afraid of thunderstorms. They just think it's Daddy...laying down some more white oak!
Mollie is adorable...I just want to smooch her!
