(I've changed up a sweet old poem for fun...)
CLEANING AND SCRUBBING
CLEANING AND SCRUBBING
CAN WAIT 'TIL TOMORROW
MY SEWING AND PAINTING
I'VE LEARNED TO MY SORROW
WILL SIT THERE UNFINISHED
TILL MY BRUSH IS IN SWING
OR MY NEEDLE IS STITCHING
SOME SWEET LITTLE THING
SO QUIET DOWN COBWEBS
DUST BE-YE-DELAYED
I'M OFF MAKING PRETTIES
SO I'VE HIRED A MAID
:)
~Rebecca Elliott Nelson/2012~
OK...so I'm NOT a poet!
(Couldn't resist a wee bit of MUSE!)
I surely AM a deal-finder tho! Check this out...
On Monday I went to one of our local thrift stores and found this amazing vintage lamp. Isn't it just the neatest little thing? I'm going to paint her up with a fresh white paint and then I have the perfect place for her. Not telling you YET where that special place is...all in good time.
(More about this soon!)
Now...want to know what made this beauty the deal of the day
MONTH?
Yep...you got it! Total price $4.98 after being marked down twice. Can't believe nobody wanted it for $14.96...and then $8.98. Well I did...but $4.98 is very much bettahhhhh....
I'm off to CREATE with JOY!
Love to you...

Lovely lamp all right. Good find. That poem is a crafting version of one I know about babies and mothehood. It's lovely. Actually a friend on facebook just the other day posted all 4 stanzas of it. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Rebecca I found the poem I was telling about.
Song for a fifth child
by Ruth Hamilton
Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth
empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
hang out the washing and butter the bread,
sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
and out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
but I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue?
(lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
for children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.
Love it! I also got a lamp BUT mine is already white. Take a peek at my post!
Have a Fun Friday,
Hugs,
Donna

Love your poem--please tell me you don't always look that pretty while you are painting:) You should see me when I am crafting--I am quite the site at times:)
Oh my! Does that mean I am off the hook for a couple of weeks?!
Not sure my "cobwebs"could wait that long, but what a beautiful sight you are, Rebecca!
I am always inviting my teen daughter to come view your blog with me!
There is always so much beauty to see. I showed her your blue guest bedroom a couple of days ago, and told her that it use to be your son's. She laughed and said that he must be in shock over it now and hope's he has somewhere else to stay!
She loves all the blue and lace!
Have a blessed weekend, Rebecca!
P.S. I just got my new art site up today! I am very excited about it!
Rebecca:
Sorry if you get two comments from me, I'm still trying to meander my way around blogger!

That lamp is precious and I know you will make a beauty out of it but it's kinda cute the way it is ;)
