Today I'm showing you a little more of my La Chaumière de Briarwood now that we have some of our remodeling work completed!
We've finally finished a big chunk of our home makeover and now that the wall we opened up has been trimmed out and painted I thought you might like to see it all together instead of bits and pieces! Before the wall (on the right) was removed there was nothing to see except a big over-sized TV cabinet and a lot of closed-in space! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this wall opened up and so glad we actually thought about it and planned it out before installing the wood flooring! Since it was load bearing it took a little bit more time to finish, but well worth the effort. We now get the north and south sun streaming directly through the windows and so the entire house is lighter and brighter!
One thing you MIGHT find interesting is this...
Almost everything in our home was purchased USED.
Almost everything in our home was purchased USED.
It's true!
Almost everything!
Oh there are new things like ceramic white dishes, candles, lampshades, freshly made pillows, linens, etc., but nearly all the furniture, lamps and complements were purchased second-hand or were pre-owned like in CARS! In the downstairs area of our home, with the exception of our formal dining table set and the occasional chairs in my den, nearly everything you see was purchased either at tag sales, estate sales, garage sales, auctions or Craig's List.
When my Mr. AGPMan installed the vintage French Doors directly off our entry a couple of years ago I never dreamed one day they'd be visible from the family room. When the wall was closed up it made for some pretty decorating on the dining room side, but it was very crowded when all my family was over! Now with the wall removed we have lots of room to move about on both sides!
I took some new shots of the downstairs CAREFULLY omitting our ripped out kitchen (you'd faint if you saw it!). You can't tell it in the photo above, but I'm standing just outside of our torn-out kitchen. It's functional, barely tho! My stove is in place and so is the sink and fridge...but nearly everything else looks like, well...kinda like a war-zone!!! Even the ceiling is out and the original studs are showing! It's making me crazy, but we have to live with it like that for now. Still lots to tear out and when you are do-it-yourselfers you work when you can and then leave the rest until another day.
Lots of another days lately!
Lots more coming, too! We hope by next year at this time we'll be done!

Blessings,

White heaven, just beautiful!
With the house looking so pretty, I'm sure the "zone" wants to be just as nice. Maybe it has more patience than the rest of us! Does the kitchen have a name? Maybe it should be Scarlett--didn't she have something to say about another day?♥♫
Your home radiates peace, tranquility and comfort. I envy those who talents lay in finding those wonderful used items..I totally stink at it.
Oh my!! It's just beautiful Rebecca!! LOVE IT! Love the color of your walls ~ may I ask what color it is? Everything looks so fab and just pops against the color of your new gorgeous wood floors!!
Warmest hugs, Brenda
Oh sweet friend! Your home is so warm and charming...just like you! But, this inquiring mind wants to know where the TV is..lol;).
Also, just read your previous post, wishing you much success in selling locally again. My plans have fallen through for selling my wares in a local shop..but I KNOW Gods hand is in it. Will wait til he opens the door for that one.
Be blessed!
Lorena
Hi Rebecca, your home is absolutely beautiful!!!

Rebecca...this is just beautiful, magazine worthy! Very romantic, too! I love what you have done and opening up your rooms was a great idea. I like things to flow.
I've lived through a major kitchen remodel...six months! It was all worth it in the end. Hang in there! :)

Rebecca your home is beautiful. So soft and warm! Very inviting.
Sooo dreamy Rebecca!... I know how hard you and Mr. AGP have worked to make your dream home the reality it is... I just love every inch of it, and I especially love that you transformed what might once have been someone elses "ugly ducking" into a beautiful swan... thanks for my birthday wishes... Happy Mothers Day to you!... xoxo Julie Marie

It all looks wonderful! Can't wait to see your finished kitchen. I'm getting ready to start my kitchen though it won't be that extensive. just paint and one new cabinet but I can't wait to have the cabinets painted!
So very cute and cozy!
Rebecca ~ I too have found many things from craigs list. It is like a little blessing from God, at least that is how I feel sometimes. :)
Thanks for following me ~ I am smiling super big. You made my day.
Sincerely,
Michele
Dearest Rebecca,
You are a very rare species that can almost perform miracles with the 'trash' of other people's homes. Either because of a death, move or whatever it got sold and you have such a keen eye for spotting things. Looking beyond that abandoned, orphaned stage, you create such unique treasures that are not even offered anywhere.
You are far more than an Interior Designer as you actually create the pieces with your own artful and skilled hands. WOW - I admire you a lot girl.
Have a happy mid-week and enjoy whatever you're doing.
Love to you,
Mariette
Your home is so beautiful--I love everything about it!You have done a great job. I love that almost everything is used. It is the same way at our house. I got our white Ikea couch for $35 on Craigslist. It has been a blessing all the resale stuff I have been able to find. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful and inspiring home.
Your home is beautiful and comes across as a very soothing place.
You certainly have a way with putting things together and decorating a room!
I tried to send a note yesterday, but system would not allow me to leave a comment. I love all your new found treasurers and wanted to wish you good luck with your booth.
Jeannette
Very very gorgeous, just as I expected!! Hope you are taking the time to enjoy it now!
Hugs,
Stephanie
Rebecca- Little late getting here....ugh. Anyway, WHAT a difference taking that wall out made- it is SOOO open now and lovely from every angle. I absolutely love it.
I know you are frustrated because of the kitchen but it will get done-in God's good time...which most often is NOT our time~
Hang in there- you will have years and years and years to love it when it is done. xo Diana

I love how the creams jump right off the floor color. The two darker arm chairs are a nice contrast as well. One thing, I would NOT want to dust your home as lovely as it is. No ma'am, not me. Hugs. T

Dearest Rebecca, as you already know, I am a lover of soft, soft color but your rooms are so well done and so completely charming...you could easily turn my head.....into white.
It is hard to achieve 'life' in all white rooms. You have done so....I am SO impressed.
Sending prayers for your trip.
Always,
Barb
