~PERFECTLY VINTAGE - MY SHABBY DESK MAKEOVER~

A few weeks ago I shared some pictures with you  of the fabulous vintage desk I found at a local tag sale.  Last Friday and Saturday it was sooo gorgeous outside that I finally got busy with her transformation!  Man...it was WORK!
WORK I SAY!
Those spindly legs were challenging to paint!

I had to de-glaze the entire thing (liquid sand) and then hand sand the desk to get the finish off.  The desk is certainly a quality piece of furniture and very well made.  I don't think it was used very much because the inside of the drawers look brand new...the outside did, too!
After that she was primed with ZINSSER and then given a couple of good coats of my favorite soft white paint.  After curing for 48 hours I sanded her with my electric sander and then hand sanded for more detail around the edges.  Then I waxed her up (AS Clear Wax) and buffed her out when it was dry!
My girl is now BOOTH READY!  Just in time for the store-wide 15% off sale at Serendipity Market, Edmond, OK!
Yesterday I worked on more pocket pillows and also some new note cards showcasing some of my favorite vintage images....
Still have to deckle punch the corners, but I love how these came out.  Hope to have a few on my website later this week!

Great desk, Rebecca! I love these smaller styles with drawers, while my daughter likes a big, big desk with lots of drawers. I've been keeping an eye out for her when I'm at the thrift stores. I've seen some great ones in the past. Glad this was in good condition for you. I'm always looking at the inside of the drawers to see how much more work is involved with the makeover when I see a desk I like.

The desk turned out so pretty. I painted one for my daughter that she uses at college. It is a lot of work. My least favorite part is sanding. But the finished piece is worth it.

Thank you for sharing it at to What We Accomplished Wednesdays. Have a lovely week!

Hugs,
Deborah

That work on your desk was well worth the effort. Look how beautiful she is now; you know how to transform it to the maximum beauty.
Love your cards too.

Rebecca,
Your desk is amazing. Oh my goodness! It looks like your hard work paid off. I love the soft white hues that you use on your pieces. Your booth must be very pretty and girly. The notecards are precious too.

Beautiful work on the desk. This style is useful for desks, vanities, and sewing tables. So versatile. I loved the cards - good luck with your booth.

Looks great! But the original finish looked pretty good also. Do you ever consider selling it in it's original finish? There are some buyers who aren't crazy about white-just a thought. When the original finish is good, I leave it and it always sells.
