While working in my studio today I came across this precious photo taken back in 1990 while running a booth at a Folk Fair here in Oklahoma. Do you remember those t-shirt dresses??? They were the rage so don't laugh! This pictures surely proves I've been in the business for a long, long time!
Truth be told I giggled out loud when I saw the picture. I remember putting those sailor collars on the dresses and adding those big pinky-rose colored bows to the front! I can't believe it but the photo was snapped 22 years ago this September... After my sister, Linda, moved away to Tennessee I was on my own and convinced an old friend to help me 'sell' for the day.
What were the hot-ticket items back then?
Hmmm...lots of handmade bears and cross stitched pillows with country girl motifs. And...stuffed heart garlands, wooden shelves with hearts (made by my Mr. AGPMan!), and anything and everything stenciled.
Want to know what my best seller was?
See the little hanging pillow on the arm of the rocking chair (on the left)? I made tons of those little sweeties...they said "I HEART Country" and were cross stitched in pinks, country blues, creams and whites. Some were done up reds and hunter green, too!
Want to know what I miss most about those days?
It wasn't my big hair :) or those black Sam & Libby black-bow flats...
Nope!
It was the ages of my kids.
In 1990 my son Brandon was 8 and my sweetie-girl, Adrienne, was 5....
I love reminiscing and taking trips down memory lane. I'm reminded when I step back into the present that life is good and has been for a long, long time!
I'm about to begin work on a very special project that's going to keep me hopping this week. I'll be out and about visiting you all as soon as I can.
Love to you...

I definitely remember those t-shirt dresses.i also remember lots of girls wearing black velvet dresses with these huge lace collars at church, too..It seemed fashionable.I never had a dress like that, and now I"m thankful :) :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :) :) :)
What a neat photo. It is fun to look back, at old fashions, and sometimes hairstyles. Way back when, my friends convinced me that I would look good with the "Dorothy Hamill" haircut. They couldn't have been more wrong. Yikes, it was a nightmare. Plus, it took forever to grow out. Thanks for posting your memories. -Allison
What is really funny is that, although I am younger than you, the styles between the older ladies of that time and the younger ladies weren't really that different!
(Including our big hair!:)
Love your trip down memory lane! The 1990's were quite the time for crafters!! I had several booths in crafter's malls and shows & was swamped with orders. I did a lot of tole painted items, miniatures, dolls, and also wreaths. You haven't changed one bit, except your clothes!!
Blessings,
Cindy
Dearest Rebecca,
Cute photo from you and your helping friend. One wonders where the time goes. Today is exactly 29 years ago since we landed at the Dublin airport with the Campbell Soup Company jet. The clovers were blooming and it was/is my brother's birthday. That's the reason I'll remember it for the rest of my life.
Memories are great, especially fond memories. And looking at your children, that shows you how fast time passes!
Love to you,
Mariette
Oh- I so remember those dresses and your booth looks a lot like my old ones did. I sold tons of sheep! and rabbits! and painted slate boards! and Amish dolls! Those WERE the good old days.
Hope everything is alright with your family- xo Diana
Oh yes, I remember it well. I loved those t-shirt dresses...they were so comfortable and easy to dress up or just hang around in...we should bring those back! And, like you, I reminisce most about my children. They were in middle school then and our house was so busy and alive with all their activities. I miss it so much, sometimes I swear it hurts my heart, I'd go back in a second! Have a good week sweet friend.
Isn't it just wonderful how just a glance at an old photo can bring back so many memories, including sounds and smells.
He he gotta love the nineties! I don't think those t-shirt dresses came to Australia, have never seen them before. Thanks for sharing.
ohhh dear I shouldn't giggle but just love those dresses and the memories that go with them too ....you ought to have seen my hair then .. think of the hair bear bunch heheheh :) love mouse xxxxx
What a cute picture, and yes I remember all that country stuff, that was my decor in my home.
Do I know what your big project is for this week?
Hugs

Oh, isn't it fun to come across these old photos. I have very few of me. Never really liked having my photo taken. And now I'm the one always behind the lens. You've been at this biz for a long time. You could teach me more than a thing or two!
Brenda
Ah honey what a fun picture you found going through your things.
I do remember those dresses I think I might have worn one myself. haha
Your just as beautiful now as then.
Thanks dear friend for coming by and saying hello. I always smile when I see you have come by for a visit.
I do miss my regular visits with you.
Some how I have to figure out what I am doing wrong with blogging visits. I just don't seem to get around as much with friends as I want too.
Have a wonderful day
Love
Maggie
