~ALL THE WAY MY SAVIOR LEADS ME~

I'm quite sure that most of you don't know that up until August of this year my Mr. AGPMan was Worship Leader at our local Church here in Oklahoma. My guy has an amazing baritone voice and one of my greatest earthly loves has been to sing along side of him as he's ministered to different congregations. He knows music inside and out and I've been blessed over and over by his God-given talent.

For more years than I can say I've heard my hubby share many of the amazing stories that are often hidden behind some of the most beloved hymns written for the church. Not long before he resigned his position he shared with our local church the story behind the song "All The Way My Savior Leads Me".

Given the struggles and conflicts this week in my own personal life I decided to focus again on my faith. For when the road gets too rough (and it oftentimes does) and the path before me narrows, it is my faith in Jesus Christ that always leads me out of the darkness...

The beautiful Hymn“All The Way My Savior Leads Me” was written by one of the most prolific songwriters in history. Miss Fanny Crosby was born in 1820 and went on to write literally thousands of Christian hymns even though she was blinded shortly after she was born. She once said,

“ If perfect earthly sight were offered me tomorrow I would not accept it. I might not have sung hymns to the praise of God if I had been distracted by the beautiful and interesting things about me.”

This beloved hymn came to Miss Fanny as a result of a prayer. She was struggling financially (haven't we all?) and she desperately needed some money. And so, as was her usual custom, she began to pray. A few minutes later, a gentleman offered her five dollars, the exact amount she needed. Later recalling the incident, she said,

“I have no way of accounting for this except to believe that God put it into the heart of this good man to bring the money.”

The poem she wrote afterward became “All The Way My Savior Leads Me.” As both a songwriter and a woman of incredible faith, Fanny Crosby serves as an example to all.

Here are the words below for you to read for yourself this lovely Sunday morning...

"All The Way My Savior Leads Me"

All the way my Savior leads me;
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my Guide?
Heavnly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well;
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well.

All the way my Savior leads me,
Cheers each winding path I tread;
Gives me grace for every trial,
Feeds me with the living Bread.
Though my weary steps may falter,
And my soul athirst may be,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! A spring of joy I see;
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! A spring of joy I see.

All the way my Savior leads me
O the fullness of His love!
Perfect rest to me is promised
In my Father’s house above.
When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day
This my song through endless ages—
Jesus led me all the way;
This my song through endless ages—
Jesus led me all the way.

Blessings as you rest and abide in Him...Rebecca

Dear Rebecca, when everything in my life seems to be spinning out of control, setting my eyes on Jesus is the best thing I can do! And I'm not even talking about *what* I believe *about* Him- because those things can change. He, on the other hand, does not!

I know you're being blessed as you wait upon Him! ♥

Miss Fanny Crosby was an amazing woman and accomplished so much in her life. "Blessed Assurance" is my favorite hymn among the many hundreds of music pieces she created. Thank you for this beautiful post, Rebecca. I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving all week long! Hugs, Coralie

I so love this hymn, Rebecca, and so glad you've posted the lyrics today. When I was saved at a little Baptist church, at age 1, this became my favorite...my home was dysfunctional and the Lord lifted me, spiritually, out of the clamor with beloved music that brought my heart and mind to focus on Him. I have heard about Miss Crosby, and I want to relay your message today to my husband...he has lost most of his sight, but sings in the choir, and plays drumbs and bongos with the worship team...he has told me that his spiritual eyes have compensated for his natural eyesight, and his faith has grown because of it. God always knows what we need to refine us, to strengthen our faith and trust in Him.

I don't have this beautiful hymn on any cd that I own, so I'm going to find it on the net and play it today.
God bless you, sweet Rebecca...have a wonderful Sunday!

Blessed Assurance I agree, lifts me so. Her writings/songs are so full of blessings.

You know that I have lifted you in constant prayer at this time, sweet one, as I said I would. You are a very special friend that is loved very deeply. May all that is placed in His hands, be lifted before you all ... He can do anything if we let Him, & trust Him.

We gather before thee, O Lord, humbly asking thru our prayers to protect & keep those that need your strength & love. Amen!

I love you. Hugs forever, TTFN ~ Marydon

Thank you so much for our visit yesterday. It helps when you hold my hand & walk me out of the fog toward the sunlight. You helped me lighten my burden of questionable thoughts. It was nice to lay my head down, without my heart pounding out of control.

Blessings, as you inspire others like myself to stay grounded and keep the Faith.

One of the greatest Christian joys in my life is to hear the OLDE HYMNS..and why certain HYMNS were writen...love the story's behind them. ~
And about the people who are resposibile for these GOD INSPIRED words.

Thank you for sharing this one. Please share MORE of these stories with us. ~~ Or tell me where I might find such stories to read about. Where for instance does your husband find this information.
Our church, like many others..are going more and more toward the "sing songey"..type of music..which is SO repetative and not near as meaningful...for us OLDER Christians who grew up with the lovely old words to what I call REAL Hymns.

Hi Sweetie!
Oh I have been so remiss in coming in to visit. And then I see you have been struggling...yet inspiring as well though it all. I will be sure to keep you in my prayers.

Isn't it amazing how GOD uses songs to encourage us through our deepest struggles? More times than I can recount a hymn or song I have heard on Christian radio will *stay* with me through my time of need. GOD is soooo good!

I love the story of Fanny...she truly learned to LIVE by her faith. I have really struggled through a Blind walk of faith lately...I know GOD's been teaching me so much through it, even when LIFE does not make any sense. Thanks for sharing her wonderful song!

Hugs...Lorena
