~~~~~OH THE THINGS YOU CAN FIND~~~~~ Vintage Style Mercury Glass Ornaments
For over twenty-five years I've been more than a casual shopper at our local TJ Maxx.
I'm a self-admitted stalker of the place.
I am.
The store is one of my all-time-favorite places to shop and her sister-store, Marshall's, is second on the list.
Tomorrow a new Marshall's will be swinging her doors open wide here in Oklahoma City and I'm going to be one of the first in line to celebrate the spectacular grand opening.  I'm hoping to come away with most of my Christmas shopping done.  I plan early because I love entertaining during the holidays and not having to worry about gift-buying...
I'll also be picking up my Mr. AGPMan's birthday gift if possible.  His big day isn't until January, but trust me when I say there is NOTHING on the shelves worthy of buying right after the first of the year...
(Not unless you want stale holiday candy or brown socks...)
Now...a couple of weeks ago I was in TJ Maxx oohing and awing the afternoon away.  Truthfully I'm not totally CRAZEEEEE about their Christmas merchandise this year, but that's another's all that lime-green stuff I can't handle!  Anyway, I looked around for a bit when I spied some shiny little baubles towards the back of one of the shelves.
Out from their hiding place I grabbed a handful of bright silvery-looking thingies and was immediately mesmerized by what I saw.  Twenty old-world-style 'mercury glass ornaments' tied together on a red velvet ribbon for $6.99.  I couldn't believe it!
Think I was fortunate enough to find more than one string?
Bummer, too!
 (Gee...sometimes I feel so ungrateful!  One is never enough!  Why am I NEVAHHH HAPPEEE?!)
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with these vintage looking gems!  I may add them to the top of my most special Christmas packages this year or tie them onto the candy jars we gift to our neighbors...not sure!  I may end up keeping every single one and using them to decorate one of our mini trees.
One thing for sure is this...I know I'll be keeping at least one of the hearts for a special project I have in mind for a dear friend!  My Adrie-Girl (daughter, Adrienne) loves to make jewelry (I in fact, do not!) and I'm going to bug her politely ask her to help me create something fabulous for my friend who never fails to bless others...
Hope your Hump-Day is fab.  I'm back in the studio today working on more painted pretties and soft goods.  You all completely wiped me out yesterday (thank-you, merci, danke, gràçie, xièxie, terima kasih, grazie, gracias, etc.) so I'm back to the grind worktable to produce more!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE what I get to do with my life!
God is good.
All the time.
Blessings for an awesome day!
Love to you...
OK. I'm running around like a madwoman...just got back from a week's road trip with the hubbin, guests are coming for Thanksgiving and some custom work has me hopping...but I just HAD to comment on these ornies.
I love, love, LOVE glass ornaments. Our entire tree is decorated with glass. And last year, I found some repro ornaments that look a lot like this...only I didn't get NEAR the deal that you did!
And I'm glad to hear you found a tree. Every year, I look for an artificial tree...and I can never find one I like. Or, I should say...the ones I like are WAY too expensive. I've come to the conclusion that I'm a "real tree" kinda girl.
Oh...and I'm loving Miss K's new lamp!
I see pretty pink and cream paint on ALL of them!! Maybe a tiny little rose in the center...
Just a thought... you could SELL THEM! hehe
Those silver ornies will look gorgeous no matter where you display them; if I had them I might put them on the top of our large tree, where I hang the tiny ornaments.
KatyDidStitches said... more thing. On your "Being Real" one has EVER made me mad enough to compel me to clean. I go shopping...preferably online! ;o)
Reading the comment above mine, Kathy's, made me laugh because I, too, go shopping when I am mad or hurt...I told my mother that once when she was at my house and commented on some pretty things of mine. Her reply was "You sure must be mad a lot"!!!!!!!!!
I love your pretty shiny glass have me itching to go to our Marshall's and shop, too!! I still have until December 1 before I can go anywhere...every-
thing will be picked over by then!!
I am sure whatever you do with the lovely ornies will be something "over-the-top" beautiful!
Happy Hump Day!! Hugs, Francy
Lovely ornaments Rebecca. My friend here at the Antique store has some new /"old looking" Mercury Glass Ornaments I have my eyes on. Our TJ Max is in Wichita about 20 minutes away, and I either try to shop our smaller town...or online. I hate to fight the crowds and I like to keep the money here in town.
I am sure you will find something neat to do with them! You have such a knack at doing things up so pretty!
Love, Linda
I've found mercury glass ornaments and votive cups at TJMax lately too! I've gone to three different stores with my daughters, and all three stores had different items. I LOVE the petite ornaments you found Rebecca! It would be difficult to give them up...but they would look wonderful on a gift. Have fun decorating with them.
Whatever you do with will be beautiful.
This past Sunday my daughter and Granddaughters took me for the very first time to TJMax and I think I went temporarily insane for 30 minutes. When I woke basket was full..and I had to do a bit of backtracking as I was there to PICK out a gift...and not for my little self!
:) The store..thank heavens, is not close by, but I am already looking forward to our next trip.
It's a wonderland and..AFFORDABLE!
A wonderland for sure.
*my post on your giveaway is done. I hope I did it right. So..can my name be added? Hmmmmm? :)
