~POISON ETTA~

For years I've wondered what happened to Etta!  Now I know...someone poisoned her!

I love sharing stories with you about my Miss K and today I have a brand new one for you.  She was only six when I started blogging and now she is ten.  Once a tiny thing she's growing up to be so lovely and I adore her more than ever.

As my Miss K has gotten older she continues to just crack me up.  I'm constantly laughing out loud over something she has said or done and yesterday she once again had me in stitches.
I had a few errands to run Saturday afternoon and for my only grandchild that means a trip to ROSS and maybe new shoes (she LOVES new shoes)!  Right next to our destination store was a Tuesday Morning and so we decided to step inside for a look around.  The TAKE an EXTRA 25% OFF REDUCED ITEMS sign on the door called out my name.
Anyway...after looking around the only thing I found that begged for my hard-earned cash was a dozen white Christmas flowers.  Originally valued at $4.99 they had been marked down to .69 and with the ongoing sale they were only .52 a stem.  WHAT A DEAL!  My girl and I checked out and went about our way.
A few hours later while I was busy decorating the China Hutch in my breakfast room my Miss K played upstairs.  Hunger pangs must have led her back into the kitchen because after an hour or so she reappeared.  While munching on White Cheddar Cheese Its (such a nice, healthy Holiday Treat, don't you thinK?) she sat down for a chat while I continued to work.  Now...this girl can talk a lot!  I mean a lot!!!  And so she began a partially one-sided conversation with me saying
UH-HUH and WOW and AWESOME
every now and then.

Then she said something that REALLY caught my attention...
Miss K:
"I love decorating and maybe when I grown up I'll be a decorator, too!
Wow, Nana!  I see what you did with that
POISON ETTA!"

Me:
"Yeah..... (LONG PAUSE.......)
WHAT did you SAY?"

Miss K (very seriously this time!):
"I said I like where you put the POISON ETTA!"

??????????

Obviously she was referring to the Poinsettia Flowers I had just purchase at Tuesday Morning.  I laughed soooo hard I couldn't speak.  I told her they were called Poin-Set-Ti-Uhs  and NOT POISON ETTAS and of course she thought she was just soooo funny.  That made me laugh all the more!

Reminds me of the story I shared a few years ago about her confusing
HOSANNA with OH SANTA!

Today I'm thanking God for her beautiful little spirit and the sweetness of her soul.  I pray everyday she never loses it.

Blessings as you celebrate Advent.

Love to you...

Oh Rebecca that is just too cute! Don't they come up with the best things, I love it, my Garnddaughter asked me to make her "french eggs" and I told her I wasn't sure how she would like her "french eggs" and perhaps she could tell me how, so I followed her instructions and we had taught Grams how to make a "fried egg" , priceless little babes they are:) Hugs and blessings to you this Sunday morning:) xoxo

That is cute, Rebecca! My granddaughter is only 2 1/2 but she makes me laugh with what she says and does. She's quite a character and I can only imagine that we will laughing in the years to come, too. They are such a joy!

You got a great price on the flowers. I haven't been to Tuesday Morning in awhile, but I think I'm going to hold off on shopping until the after Christmas sales now.

You can almost see the cogs turning in their little heads as they learn new things...and new words. Precious memories!

LOL That is so cute! And what makes it even more appropos is that "Poison Ettas" do have poisonous berries that can be a danger to cats and dogs and probably kids who might eat them. So see, Miss K was spot on! Out of the mouths of babes! ;-)

XO,

Sheila

Such a wonderful memory to have. Your decorations are just amazing and I love the way children change words around when they are little.

Makes for good times, laughs, and sweet memories.

Too funny, I can't wait until my grand daughter can enjoy shopping with me. She is only a year old and already enjoys sitting in the buggy and bobbing her head to the music playing in the stores, maybe I'll have a little shopper!

I loved that, Rebecca. Thank you for the story.

Ahhh...Miss K is so precious!! Give her a big squeeze for me...she is special!! Love the things children say...and love how they will take a word and turn it into something else! My g-daughter has called a bandaid- bambam since she was 2 and we have never corrected her because we love it! However she is only 5 so I think we can still get a chuckle from it for maybe another year...then we will have to correct her so the other children don't make fun of her.

Love how your home looks this Christmas season with all the white! So pretty!

Blessings! Carolyn

I can totally hear that story with all the "voice"--a fancy term we teachers use for expression in writing! Or I could really impress you and use the word "prosody"! I sound like Fancy Nancy now with all the big words. Did Miss K ever like that series of books? (I just love kid's books!!) I am still planning on following you around some day and finding some of those fantastic bargains!♥♫

We are having 60 degree weather today!! Not something that happens to often in Iowa in December. Enjoy

Rebecca that is Hilarious! Poison Etta... I shall have to remember that one when I just need to lighten up and Smile! Children do have Beautiful little Spirits and a sweetness of Soul that never ceases to bring Joy to all they say and do. Your Display is Gorgeous and Wintery White, which I Appreciate living in the Desert where we get no Snow so we have to get Creative about bringing a Coolness to our Yuletime! *Winks*

Merry Christmas from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian

Dearest Rebecca,
So much for a piece of healthy White Cheddar Cheese as it made her speak funny! That is great for making someone laugh really hard and healthy; we need more of those spontaneous moments!
Have a great first Advent Week and enjoy your lovely Poinsettias.
Hugs,
Mariette

Fun! I so wish my little grand man was closer. I know I'll miss these fun moments.

Too my 12 year old Christmas shopping for clothes last night. He had me in stitches. He said, "What do I look like, Aunt Bonnie, a portable clothes rack." He was loaded down with all my findings-not just his.

Love this! These little ones are precious and they do say and do sweet sweet things.

My grand-daughter calls the Nativity Scene an Activity Scene. Grins.

May you have a delightful Christmas Holiday Season.

I was having trouble with blogger and couldn't download/upload pics from my files. I found a way around this and got a personal picture of me holding your awesome give away Snowman Pillow. Hope you'll pop in and check it out.

Thank you, Rebecca! I loves it, i do!

What a sweet story, Rebecca! My little granddaughter is two tomorrow so she is just learning to talk. I will have to wait a bit to hear her little morsels of wisdom. Would love to take a real life peek into your home. I bet it's scrumptious! Have a delightful week, dear friend.

Blessings,
Sandi

Oh my... now every single time I see a poinsettia I'm going to call it a poison Etta in my mind.... I love the things kids come up with... I'm never short of laughter when I'm around my grandson either. He gets his sense of humor from his Mum... She is HILARIOUS.

Have a wonderful week dear girlie...
