~LOVE IS IN THE AIR~

Ever wonder where the expression "wearing your heart on your sleeve" came from?

At Valentine's Day parties (many years ago), each bachelor would draw the name of a young single lady from a hat and wear her name on his sleeve to claim her as his valentine!  Hmmmm...

I'm sure I've shared this before...but just in case you missed it here is some food candy for thought...

Conversations Hearts have been around since 1866!  They were first created by Daniel Chase, brother of NECCO founder, Oliver Chase.  It wasn't long before the sweet little confections became a hit!

No fewer than 8 billion Conversations Hearts are manufactured each year?  Wow!

THAT'S ALLOTA SUGAR!
How about this for a little bit of Valentine inspiration...

Next time you're trying to come up with a great gift for your sweetie, take inspiration from Mark Antony.  In his attempt to win Cleopatra's affectioins, he gave her much of what is today the Middle East, including Phoenicia, Coele-Syria, Cyrus, and parts of Cilicia, Arabia, and Judea.
(((I'm afraid my Mr. AGPMan is going to have a hard time beating that one!)))
This year I'm mixing things up a bit for Valentine's Day! I asked my guy a couple of weeks ago if I could be in charge of the celebration instead of leaving everything up to him...

I have a romantic evening planned and will share with you soon just what I'm going to do...
I love these quotes:

LOVE REFLECTS THE THING BELOVED.
(Tennyson)

~~*~~
LOVE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT YOU ARE EXPECTING TO GET~ONLY WITH WHAT YOU ARE EXPECTING TO GIVE~WHICH IS EVERYTHING.
(Katherine Hepburn)

~~*~~
ALL I REALLY NEED IS LOVE, BUT A LITTLE CHOCOLATE NOW AND THEN DOESN'T HURT!
(Lucy Van Pelt, Peanuts)

~~*~~
LOVE:
THE IRRESISTIBLE DESIRE TO
BE IRRESISTIBLY DESIRED.
(Mark Twain)

Hope your Friday is wonderful!  Junking on Saturday and SuperBowl watching come Sunday!  FUN!

Love to you...

Lovely Valentine's facts!....I won't be getting any new countries from The Great Dane, but I have high hopes for chocolates and flowers. I always make up a box for my two little grandsons - all sorts of treats and decorations for the house. Fun for me to choose and fun for them to open!

Rebecca, this is a fascinating Valentine post. I did not know that about wearing your heart on your sleeve. But he didn't get to pick the lady, it was a random drawing, that was surprising.
