~TATTERED APRONS MADE FROM WHAT?~

We are snowed in here in Oklahoma.  Love it when the fluffy white stuff falls from the sky on a day when I don't have to work!

Stopping in today to show you what I've been working on.  In 2012 I began offering Tattered Aprons for sale on my REBECCA VINTAGE - A Gathering Place website and when they all sold out I just never got around to making any more.  What is it that they say about our 'best laid plans?'  Sometimes I hate it that so many ideas pop in and out of my mind so quickly.

But, it is what it is...WBS!
(Wandering Brain Syndrome)

The apron above was made using new black and cream French Ticking Stripe.  Love that fabric because it goes with all the neutral colors that are so popular today.  Added some vintage crochet lace and linen accents and a big side pocket.
This one was fun to make.
This one was actually fashioned from laundered linen in a light colored taupe.  Originally it was a skirt that had been dry cleaned.  Nothing is wrong with dry cleaning linen, but this one was over-starched and pressed and looked like a piece of cardboard when I found it.  Once the skirt was washed and dried it ended up being perfect for a makeover.  Extra linen/cotton fabric was added for both the neck and back ties.
If you love white like MOI then this one will probably be your favorite.  Fashioned from laundered cotton, a french graphic pocket was added, crochet lace and a flounce made from a simple cotton (lined) skirt.  I love it when I can find gently loved clothing that can be transformed into something fun and new!

Can't begin to tell you how much I'm enjoying my 'almost back to normal life' again.  Funny thing is...with all the snow today my Mr. AGPMan didn't have to go into the office.  Since he works at a college when the school closes he gets to work from home!  Yeah....

Hoping you survive the frosty days.
Spring will be here soon!

Love to you...

~TURN AN OLD SKIRT INTO A FRENCH FARMHOUSE APRON~

 By now you all know I love to shop at thrift stores.  I'm amazed at the things people give away and I've found some truly incredible finds over the years.
Some of my favorite things to hunt down for my booth space are white cotton and/or linen tops and skirts.  All they usually need are a quick dunk in the washing machine to come out better than new...nothing sweeter and more comfy than gently washed natural fiber clothing...swoon...........................
Last week while shopping at one of our neighborhood thrifts I found a tattered, all cotton skirt, by GUESS for $1.99.  I love how it looked and decided it was worth bringing home.  My plan was to make a Christmas Tree Skirt out of it, but after studying it decided it wouldn't be full enough.  Sooo...my next idea was to use it to help fashion a new Tattered Apron.  Last Spring I made about fifteen of them and I've wanted to get back to stitching up a few more.
Here's what I did...

The skirt had a zipper and I cut it out and split the seam.  I removed the lining and trimmed down the waist area to just above the top ruffle.  After cutting out the top portion of the apron and serging the edges I sewed the lightly gathered skirt piece to the bottom.
Because the skirt was already tattered (raw seams) it was PERFECT for the ruffled flounce!  After a frayed pocket and a couple of ruffles were attached the apron started taking form.  Neck and side ties were added and a couple of vintage buttons and wahhhh-lahhhhh...DONE!
I may go back and remove the last ruffle as the apron is a wee bit longer than I'd like for it to be...perfect for someone tall but not so perfect for someone like me who is only 5'4...  Or~just might leave it as-is!  Haven't decided whether or not to sell this one yet...MAYBE!

So...the next time you think about making an apron why don't you skip the fabric stores and look for something at the thrift.  Lots of great skirts (especially the full ones) that give you more than enough fabric to design something lovely.
(Cheaper tan new fabric, too!).

Happy Wednesday!

Love to you...

~~~~IS YOUR FOLLOWER GADGET MISSING?~~~~ IF SO...DO THIS
 ~LE LAPIN SACHET~
Sweet for Spring
For the past several days, nearly a week now, my FOLLOWERS GADGET on my sidebar has been MIA!  I figured it's sudden departure must have had something to do with the GOOGLE FRIENDS CONNECT THINGY being changed and so I TRIED to be patient while the POWERS THAT BE fixed whatever was causing the problem.
~FARMHOUSE APRON~
--Can You Spot The Mistake?--
{ARGH!}
Most of the Blogs I visit showed their FOLLOWERS GADGET in place, but there were a few that had big empty spaces where their GADGETS were suppose to be.  Sooo....I emailed one of my friends, Miss Mariette from Mariette's Back to Basics and asked her if she was having trouble too!  She was!  And like me she had spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out what was going on!
Miss M is so lovely and encouraged me to continue to be patient while things were sorted out in blogland.
~HOW ABOUT NOW?~
--Bolangerie?  Nope...Boulangerie!--
{drats!}
Well...PATIENCE is NOT one of my strong points.
(Neither is French Spelling!!!!!)
Seriously.
It's not.
I want things done like, um...yesterday!
(or the day before)
~SWEET IRISH LACE~
Still...I TRIED to be a good, calm girl and not do what I wanted to do which was
FREAK OUT!
And so I waited.
And waited.
And WAITED!
FOR SEVEN DAYS I WAITED!!!
Still NOTHING!
(God created our beautiful world in less time!)
(ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!)
~LOVELY CROCHET LACE~
Along with my FOLLOWERS GADGET missing there were other problems, too!
Like:
1.  My Dashboard said I wasn't following ANY blogs!
2.  The FOLLOW link at the top of my blog wasn't working.
3.  The FOLLOW link on my Blog Page wasn't working.
4.  The Comment button worked only sporadically.
5.  My Google Reader was on the blitz...
AND
6.  My last three posts kept disappearing from my page!
WHAT?
I wanted to SCREAM for my HERO
(aka:  Mr. AGPMan)
to come and save me fix WHATEVER the problem was, but he's studying for finals and I didn't want to disturb him.
(Gee...my compassionate side must have momentarily kicked in while I was pulling my hair out and gnashing my teeth.)
So...after posting my situation on BLOGGER HELP and getting absolutely NO RESPONSE I decided to try something ON MY OWN!  After digging around and trying several things I finally found something that worked and POOF my FOLLOWERS GADGET and all the other problems were INSTANTLY FIXED!
(WHOOT!  WHOOT!  Happy Dance Time!)
~HERE'S WHAT YOU DO~
1. Go to the SETTINGS TAB on your Dashboard
2. Make a teensy tiny change to your blog domain name, enter the security words and hit save.
(my blog domain name is
Rebecca-gatheryeroses.blogspot.com
and all I did was place an extra "a" after Rebecca {Rebeccaa} to keep the change simple!)
3.  Enter your new address in your search bar (your old links won't work yet) and check to see if the faces of all your fabulous, gorgeous, beautiful peeps are back!
(They should be!)
4.  Log out.
5.  Now...go back and LOG ON again.  Go into the SETTINGS TAB a second time on your dashboard and change your blogger domain name BACK to it's original name!
6.  Go check your blog again.  Everything SHOULD be back to normal!
YEAH!!!
Hope your day is yippy-skippy wonderful.
I'm off for a mani-pedi this morning and despite the rainy forecast for Oklahoma
I'm going JUNKING!
And then...
When. I. Get. Home.
I'm going REMOVE that pocket
on my messed-up Apron
and put the corrected one
in it's place!
Love to you...
~~~~VINTAGE PINK ROSE FABRIC APRONS~~~~ Happy Pink Saturday

~SWEET PINK APRON TRIO~
(Because ONE is never enough!)

Today I'm linking up with Beverly of How Sweet The Sound for PINK SATURDAY!  It's been a long time since I joined in the fun over at the best-pink-place in Blogland!!!  Hope you'll hop on over and check out the other pink treasures for yourself!  It's always lots of fun!
~SWEET OLD FABRIC~
Vintage Pink Roses and Newer Ticking

Last Wednesday I showed you some of the new Tattered Aprons I'm going to be offering soon on my website, A Gathering Place (I have it down for construction right now but it will be reopening in mid to late March)!  This week I've been working on some sweet pink-themed aprons and today I'm showing you a couple of the new ones fashioned with vintage fabrics!  They are fun and pretty simple to make...
 ~SWEET PINK AND WHITE ROSE~
 Vintage Crochet Lace Trim

The second one down was made using an old 1940's cotton and a newer pink stripe pillow ticking!  I've had this vintage pink rose cotton for years and years and finally decided to put it to use!  The one above was fashioned using a darling pink cameo cotton from the 1950-1970's.  This design has been around for a long time and it's one of my favorites!  I've seen it in the green and blue colorway, too!

This morning my Mr. AGPMan and I are going to visit a couple of tag/estate sales and also one of the neatest shopping/junking places in Oklahoma City, The Feathered Nest.  It's always exciting and fun to get out with my
MOST FAVORITE GUY
in the whole-wide-world!

Hope your day is magnificent!
Spring will be here soon!  Yeah....

Love to you...

~LACE WEATHERED APRONS~ White Wednesday

 ~TATTERED WHITE APRON~

Today I'm linking up again with Kathleen over at Faded Charm for White Wednesday and also What's It Wednesday over at Ivy and Elephants!  I hope you'll pop over to both these fabulous places and check out all the things offered up this week!  We all have a wonderful time and we'd love to have you join us!
 ~STONE-WASHED w/ CROCHET LACE~

Over the past few weeks I've been working on creating some new merchandise for my A Gathering Place Shoppe!  For the longest time I've wanted to stitch up some vintage style aprons, but with a weathered-lace twist!  I've finally gotten around to making a few and honestly I've had more fun sewing in my studio than I've had in a long, long time!

Each of the aprons you see were fashioned with vintage sheeting, pre-owned (used) window panels or newer cotton sheets.  The laces/trims are all vintage as are the buttons!
~TATTERED LACE and TRIMS~

There won't be two alike!  The aprons weren't terribly hard to make once I settled on a specific pattern.  One basic layout was used for each apron even though the tattered cotton and lace trims have been mixed up a bit!!!

Once our new kitchen is finished I'm going to love hanging one of these up on some little chippy peg-shelf or over a cabinet knob!
~PINK-WHITE-STONE~

Couldn't resist tossing a pink one into the mix!

(Now you know a wee little bit of what I've been working on!!!!)

TODAY (Wednesday) our new wood floors are being installed.  Can you see me jumping up and down with excitement?  I can hardly wait!
Will post photos soon!

Hope your day is wonderful!

Love to you...
