~PINK SATURDAY...The Thrill of the Ride~

~CAN YOU DATE THIS PINK CAR?~

Happy Pink Saturday to all you PINK LOVIN' PEEPS out in Blogland.  Thank you to Miss Beverly of How Sweet The Sound for hosting our get-together every single week!  I hope you will make time to check out her sweet Bloggie for a list of all the participants.  You are sure to get a dose of all things PINK and LOVELY!

Now...when I was about ten we owned a PINK CAR.  We did.  It was a 1959 Plymouth Station-Wagon and it was truly tacky divine.  I didn't think it was anything special back then I can assure you!  I hid my face when riding inside of it for fear I might be seen by all my stuck-up cool friends.  I didn't want them thinking I was some sort of weirdo princess or something...

I found out from my vintage-car-crazy-bro that the old piece of junk  classic vehicle is now worth about as much money restored as my house was the day we purchased it in 1992....  Hmmmmm
~HOW ABOUT THIS ONE?~

When you are ten the color of your car matters...  It does! It also helps if you have a floorboard!  Our pink Plymouth did not (I'm not kidding).  I've still not recovered from seeing the pavement whirling past from underneath my feet...:(

Pink or not, that was SCARY!
  ~1956 PONTIAC~

Now...this is a cool car.  I would soooo love to drive around my town inside this pink and gray beauty!
1957 Lincoln

What a sight!  Be still my heart!  I NOW THINK PINK CARS ARE COOL!
~1958 CHEVROLET IMPALA~

I was born in December of 1958.  Great year...GREAT CAR!  My hubby owned a 1967 Chevy Impala when we were dating.  She sure didn't look like this!
~1957 OLDSMOBILE~

Now peeps...this car is a KEEPER!  Wowzers is all I can say!  YUMMO!
~1956 CADILLAC~

This looks like one 'boat-of-a-car' to me!  But I'd pal around town in it if I could.  Everyone would stare though and that would make me nervous! :)
~1955 LINCOLN~

This fabulous pink Lincoln came out the year my parents married.  I didn't know they had such neat cars that long ago! :)
~AN EARLY BUG~
(I'm nearly faint!)

When my big sister and I were growing up we dreamed of owning a little Beetle Bug.  She never got hers and I'm still longing for mine!  One day I'm going to own one.  Even if I'm 85 and my hair is gone, bumm has dropped and my teeth have all fallen out I'm still sure to look fabulous driving this...

 ~TOO COOL FOR WORDS~

Pink Cars, no matter what year they were made, just rock!  Don't you think?

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful, pink lovin' day!

Love to you~

Lots of VERY wonderful 50's cars..that was "my Era"...I dated during the mide 50's to the
60's..and I will tell you this..the car the guy drove was almost always the determining factor on whether or not I was doing to go out with him or not..how was THAT for being a SNOB ?
I LOVED CARS..especially convertables.

LOL! I'm laughing, Rebecca, because when I was ten, having a pink car would have been about the coolest thing ever. I was a huge pinky, and I wanted everything pink. I even had a little boyfriend (and I mean little as in short) who lived in a little pink house! I think he came up to my shoulder. LOL! I probably loved him more because of the color. ;-)

What a difference a few years make! LOL! Might be because various movie stars had pink cars. But I think my pink went out the window when my love for the boy ended. ;-) But what I would have given for a pink car! Now we had a yellow station wagon, and my father teased my mother endlessly about it. He would trade cars after three years or 60,000 miles, so that went which meant green was the order of the day. It seems we had either green or blue cars (with an occasional white one). But my dad bought my sister a red Ford Falcon, and it was so cute. We all loved that!

Speaking of which, love to you on this fine Pink Saturday!

XO,

Sheila :-)

Loving the pink cars! My first car was actually a VW Beetle, way back in 1979. It wasn't pink though...tomato red! I enjoyed your fun post this morning!

Oh Rebecca, you make me smile... your bum will never drop, your teeth and hair will never fall out and you will always be COOL! Pink car or not! I love the classics and so does Jack... I am ten years older than you, actually 11, and I owned many of those cars at one time or another, (not pink though), because those were just the cars back then... I learned to drive on my mama's old '49 Hudson... I would kill to own that car today! This was such a fun post! Wishing you a beautiful day... xoxo Julie Marie

Love your post today. I was born in 1947 and we owned a few of these cars but not in PINK im afraid. We owned a bug just like the last-convertible in blue. If we only had the fortitude to KEEP them-they would be worth oodles.
Happy PS

Owning a PINK car has always been a dream of mine!! I remember back around 1953 was the first pink car I ever saw...my sister's best friend's mother had a pink Cadillac!! Whoo Who!
I would "die" for a pink "BUG"!! To me it would be better than a BIG
car...I'm with you...old, gray, lame and senile I would still have one if I could!!
I bet your pink station wagon..with no floor board (??!!)
was something!! Aren't little girls silly? Did you ever think THEN that you'd crave a PINK car NOW??

Rebecca,
Loved the walk down memory lane and the Pink Rides.
Being 8 1/2 yrs older than you I really do remember these old beauties.
Also the old pink and aqua kitchen decor of the 1950 and into the 60's.
sure beat the earth tones (orange & olive green) of the late 60's and 70's.

Thanks for the memories.

Hugs,
Penny

I ALWAYS wanted a pink car. Up until I was 15, I had a pink bedroom and I could just never get enough pink. (We moved after that, and the room was paneled, and I wasn't allowed to paint over it).

My parents were never into a pink car, though, so it was a dream that was never realized.

Have a lovely weekend,
Patti

This is a fun "Remember When Pink Post"..How I loved that '58 Impala. Nothing like driving down the main drag, windows rolled down with Ray Orbison songs blaring on the radio!!
Sitting was a real job with (2) can-can petticoats on, big skirt and a cinch belt ;)
The Chevy was as shiny as patent leather with my pony tail flying--Oh I thought I was just too COOL

Now it is arthritis, am a bottled blond, and a bit forgetful :)

G'day, Rebecca ~
Oh, this does bring back many a memory of 'when cars were cars'!! We had one pink car in our town & I loved it! as a child. The Beetles were fab then & still love them.

te he, we had a white station wagon when I was a kid, and my poor hubbs inherited it after we got married. It had set behind the barn for 10 years. By the time he was driving it, yes, oh yes, you could see pavement on the driver's side back seat. totally rusted out, and he reminded me just the other day when he had no brakes. I've always loved vintage cars, but now that I'M Vintage, I love them more!!

The pink car is a 1960 or 1961 Rambler. We have a 1959 pink Chevy Belair with gray interior....it's soooo pretty! Love those old cars!!!

HPS! I think of all the things form the past that make for good stories now but would also be considered part of unfit parenting if it were done today and i chuckle. See? You're no worse for wear and it made for a great story too!

Hello sweet Rebecca!

Oh these pink cars are pinkalicious!! Whoo Whoo! A friend of the family had a pink rambler back in the day. That is the closest I have come to a pink car. I didn't think anything of it then.
I do own a silver beetle now though! Oh, I wish it was pink. As it is, I have pink daisies in the little holder on the dash. Hubby takes them out when he needs to take the car for service. lol! Do you know, that now they sell eyelashes for the headlights, and a wind up key that goes on the back. I might get the eyelashes, but the little wind up key is like $200. and some dollars. I don't think I will be getting that. Thanks for a fun PS!

Debbie

Rebecca,
TOO COOOOOOL!
I have a new appreciation for pink vintage cars. Great POST.

I don't know what's going on with me but I am admiring the color pink more and more everyday...hum...must be my age.

I'm so much wiser these days...grins. I think it would be fantastic to have a vintage car and if she were PINK all the better.

Today I went to a Car Show and the autos are out of this world drop dead gorgeous...if that's possible.

Summer blessings to you, Becky Sue,

I'm with you Miss R. Pink cars are awesome. My parents used to have a pink and gray Chevrolet. I believe it was 1955 or 56. I had a volkswagon for my first car but it was yellow. It was cool though.
You never see those old pink cars anymore. Thanks for a blast from the past.
