~BLESSED IS THE GIVER~

~A GIFT FOR MISS K~

Early last week my phone rang and on the other end of the line was a sweet friend and fellow Blogger, Julie Marie of Idyllhours.  The unexpected call was uplifting and inspiring and sent the next several hours of my life into a positive direction.  She phoned to tell me "a little box of something or other" was on it's way to my Miss K and she wanted me to be on the lookout for it!

BLESSED IS THE GIVER.
~A PRECIOUS NOTE FROM JULIE MARIE~

If you've followed my blog for very long then you know I sometimes write about our only grandchild, our beautiful Miss K.  She is, in every sense of the word, a miracle girl.  She is seven, missing tons of teeth and flits around like a wandering butterfly in search of a fresh new place to relax her fluttering wings.  For Miss K the world, and everything about it, proves to be far too curious a place for one to ever slow down.  She breathes in the excitement of her days and one can immediately tell she's enjoying the wide open spaces yet to be filled up by her future.

BLESSED IS THE GIVER.
~TOO EXCITED TO SPEAK..HELLO KITTY PURSE~

The box came as expected and yesterday Miss K could be found bounding (running, skidding, hopping, skipping, sliding) down our sidewalk (daddy in tow), eagerly anticipating the gift from the unknown stranger.  Her ponytail danced in the Oklahoma wind and her cheeks, usually soft and creamy white, were blushed with just a hint of summer color (I just love that!).

BLESSED IS THE GIVER.
~TINY PINK RHINESTONE EARRINGS~

Once inside she began to open the package that bore her name.  And, like most little kids, ripped off the wrapping paper faster than a hovering  parent (or Nana) could click away at the button on their trusty camera...

BLESSED IS THE GIVER.
~A BIT OF CASH FOR ESTATE SALE SHOPPING~

Now...I cannot tell you in simple terms the look of childhood joy and wide-eyed wonder that flashed across the face of my Miss K.  But it was there none the less.  Her only words were...

"This is for ME, Nana?  Who sent me this un-birthday present?  I think they must love me or something?"

BLESSED IS THE GIVER
~TUCKING HER DOLLARS SAFE INSIDE~

Julie Marie told me during our conversation that she related to my Post regarding teasing during the childhood years and wanted to send my Miss K something as a little token of love.  How lovely is that?  How wonderful to take time out of ones busy life to stop into a store and hunt for a couple of sweet little things for a child who doesn't even know you...?  Even more so, one you may never, ever meet face to face?

BLESSED IS THE GIVER
~WRITING HER THANK YOU NOTE~

"Dear JM...  In the process of blessing my tiniest heart-stealer, you blessed me more than I can say.  Because of gentle spirited people like you I've come to realize that I have still have so much room to grow as a person.  I'm not a true giver.  I want to be, but I'm not.  Because of you I'm going to try harder.  Thank you so very, very much for being a bright, shimmery light in a world that is far too often darkened with crazy-busy schedules and well-meaning intentions.  You took the time and listened to the still small voice that lives within your own heart.  I want you to know you stirred the one in mine.  Love you~Rebecca"

BLESSED IS THE GIVER.
Love to you~

Your Miss K is absolutely adorable, and a what a sweet and generous thing. Its that one act of kindness that she will remember forever and will pass that random act of kindness on to someone in her future. And you shouldnt say that you are not a true giver, Every time you tell your stories your giving, and touching someone with your words of inspiration. Thats true giving. Thank you for sharing.
Hug Miss K for all of us today :)

That is soooooo sweet! I love that lady without even meeting her!
I am very close to kids that age because I teach first and second graders, and I can relate to that entire situation. I have seen a lot of girls who say that they have no friends. I know that cheered her up! Thanks for sharing this story!

Hi Rebecca! First I just want to say thank you so much for promoting my blog last week on Friday. I think I have twelve followers now! :) I heard you got to spend some time with Ginger while she was in OKC and I'm so glad you did! This post about your sweet Miss K and JM was just precious. I love all the shabby chic, pretty, fufu stuff we see on the blogs but my favorite stuff to read in about real life, about the things that are happening to us, for us, and around us because when it's all said and done the things that matter most are our relationships and love. Thank you so much for sharing this experience with us. It was literally crying when I read it, probably because I now am experiencing the joy of having sweet girls in my life that I can play with, dress up, and spoil rotton. They are my boyfriends daughters. They bring me so much joy and I love them dearly. Thank you again for sharing this story with us. I hope Miss K enjoys her new treasures. We have all learned a good lesson from JM and I will try to bless someone today. Much love,
Tammy

Oooh dear Rebecca... I am just speechless! The tears are flowing down my face, but they are happy tears... your little Miss K is such a precious little girl, made up of sugar and spice and everything nice, just like her beautiful nana...I am so happy she loved her little "un~birthday" present... how cute that is what she called it, and "yes, little Miss K, I DO love you! Perhaps one day we WILL meet in person, but I feel as if I know you already"... Sweet Rebecca, you captured her emotions so beautifully and I love each and every photo...especially the one where she is "too excited to speak"...with the little Hello Kitty purse... The comments about me are much too kind...I am just "me", no one special... but wanting to do something special for a lovely young lady with whom I can relate as a child... I have told you before how much you inspire me, not only with your beautiful creations, which I am now lucky enough to own two of, but with your heartfelt words on all of your posts... "A Gathering of Thoughts"... I believe that says it all... love to you... xoxo Julie Marie PS I am sooo excited to received my thank~you note handwritten by Miss K! Those things are simply priceless to me...

How wonderful for her to receive such a thoughtful gift... I too received a package like that. A wonderful blogger friend (you) sent a smiliar package my way for my little Christian, and I felt the same way. How neat and wonderful that person must be to take their time out of their day to get a gift for a child they may never see. I kept one of the little outfits he has already outgrown for his hope chest. Blessings to you and beautiful Miss K. Hope you are enjoying the warmer weather. Hugs- Heather

How very nice. And what a lovely miss K. Friends are the best . The ones that are close and the ones that are far away. What a lonely place this would be without friends.

What a generous hearted friend you have who understood that little ones love to receive surprises and that this unexpected gift "just for her" made her feel so loved and special. Things like this are wonderful in kindling a child's self-esteem....to feel someone cared about them enough to do something just for them!!
It made me smile through my tears at the expressions of wonder on her precious face as she opened her
gift!!
Thanks for sharing...Hugs, Francy

What a kind gesture from Julie! There have so many times that I wish to have contact with the blogger that writes something that moves me but what to do - just write and say send me your address? I vow to be a kinder, gentler person after seeing the joy on your little one's face!

Thanks so much for your sweet comment concerning selling my bags on etsy. Your encouragement goes a long way!
