My heart goes out to Pastor Rick Warren (author of the best seller THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE) and his wife as they deal with the suicide death of their beloved son, Matthew.
I think it's easy sometimes to view others, especially when they reach a certain pinnacle of success, as having perfect lives. As I grow older I understand more and more there simply is
No perfect...
No absolutely wonderful...
At least not all the time.
I can only imagine Pastor Warren standing and facing his congregation today being burdened by such overwhelming grief.
May his sorrow be overshadowed by God's love.
Depression is a terrible thing...an ugly disease...one that knows no mercy and plays no favorites. My prayer today is simply for the love and mercy of God to wash over this family and ultimately for something good to come out of death of their son, brother and friend.
Blessings as you seek peace today.
Love to you...

I fully agree with you what you have written. How hard it must be for the Pastor and wife. It was nice of brother in-law to take over the service. I prayed also for him.
Very sad. And he was his youngest son.
To lose your children first it is hard breaking. My Mom loss her young family first years ago. As she stood at the coffin she said. It is not to happen this way I have to bury my young ones first. Her first daughter got hit by a car at 19. Another son died from a gallbladder complication.
So my heart goes out to the family and siblings and any young family or elderly . Thanks for mentioning it. I was ready to write it also and then I seen your blog.
Beautifully stated.
Amen
I heard about it...so sad. Depression is a horrible disease...and one many people suffer from but others don't know....
Oh how sad. Saying a prayer. Sadly we probably all know someone either who has taken their own life or who has been affected by someone who has. Blessings to you.

Depression is so terrible... I had a bout with post partum depression after the birth of my son. Those were very dark days. I will be praying for healing during the grief filled days ahead.
Blessings,

Amen to your prayer, Rebecca. I have been praying for the Warren family and friends. There is a book called The Wounded Healer by Henri Nouwen, that title is so powerful, broken people can heal and help others with the help of Christ.
Ahhh Rebecca so very sad, I to will send a prayer for this family....
Hugs~

Depression is so terrible. I am so glad that I heard the voice inside me (I really think it was my grandpa) telling me to get help NOW! I have lost an uncle and 2 friends to this disease. I will keep the family in my prayers.
Those who condemn and judge have never experienced the dark tunnel of depression. I have found the road to be a very lonely road. People don't know what to say so they say nothing at all, creating more isolation that before. So sad. Yes, prayers for this family.
I know-it is absolutely heart-wrenching. It must have feel like having your heart ripped out. One of my best friend's son committed suicide when he was 30 and it has had such long-lasting devastating effects on the whole family. If only the person committing the act understood the depths of the pain they were causing. I think, however, that they are so caught up in their own pain that they can't see beyond the moment- xo Diana
Dearest Rebecca,
Their are no words for such tragedy... You are so right with the fact that there is not such a thing as a perfect life. Guess a lot of our younger generations would be far better off if they came a lot more down to the basics. Most cannot handle any bumps in their road of life...
Hugs to you,
Mariette
So very sorry for them. It must be so hard to cope with. I watch the "Marie" show on Hallmark, and she has been talking recently of her heartache when her son committed suicide. It just breaks my heart to see her pain.
Yes, we can pray for these dear people.
Love, Linda
That breaks my heart. So sad. Depression is terrible. I've been there myself and it makes you feel hopeless and alone. I thank God that I was able to get through it. Prayers going up for this family.
Hugs,

Sweet Rebecca,
Very sad for this family and so many others that go through this trauma. I feel for them.
It is a blessing that so many have been loving and kind to the Warren family.
May you have a beautiful Spring,
