~THE BATHROOM MAKEOVER NIGHTMARE CONTINUES~

 NEW INSULATION INSTALLED

Last May (help me...WAS IT that LONG AGO???) I blogged about being totally excited about my guy and I starting the first phase of our second bath makeover!  I thought I knew ahead of time what we were in for because I figured once you've done one total bath redo (you can see what I'm talking about here!) you pretty much assume you know it all!  (Bah!  That "ass-u-me" gets me every single time).

 TOTALLY NEW SUBFLOOR
(Shower Will Be Here)

Anyway, I was soooo thrilled because after living nearly 18 years in our La Chaumière de Briarwood we would FINALLY be rid of the most hideous (and totally non-useful) bathroom in the entire state of Oklahoma!  That ugly, tiny, barely functional thing was original to our home, too!!  It was horrible from the get-go!
 FABULOUS VINTAGE FRENCH POCKET DOOR

In that Post which I called "The Ugliest Bathroom in America", I showed pictures of our teensy, tiny, 1970's era master bath (yes...I said master!) that is situated just off our bedroom...  Our PLAN was to have it finished by late summer and boy oh boy have we EVAH missed the mark!  Since the day the first chunk of sheet rock was removed the entire experience has been an 'in our face' project.  We've lived with tools everywhere, not to mention dust, drafts and just plain old stuff junking up what should be one of the most special places in our home.
NEW VENT

Well...I suppose that is what happens when you end up having a Spring, Summer and Fall crammed full and over-flowing with unexpected ISSUES!  MORE WORK and back-story planning that I can even say!  It's been OVERWHELMING to say the least!
NEW FAN and CODE LIGHTING

So...the actual WORK for our "Ugliest Bathroom in America Makeover" project was forced to take a backseat until we could wrap our brains around how we would proceed.  Now...I'm using the word "we" here because it makes me feel like I have a say in what's going on.  If the truth be told I totally took my hands off the entire thing and gave my hubbs permission to FIGURE IT OUT! :)
I'M LOVIN THIS PART

Somebody kill me PLEEZE!  I really have a hard time living in chaos and that is just what my guy and I have been experiencing for months and months.
 PAINT READY SINK and CABINET
(I'M WAITING FOR MY PAINT JOB MR. DeMille!)

The good news is this...  A few weeks ago we were able to once again return to the pesky project and after moving ALL the water pipes (the shower position is being changed) and having to change ALL the wiring, etc., my guy was finally able to get the new insulation installed, sub-floor completed, vents and overhead main light and fan installed and the 'I didn't think he could do it' vintage French Door refashioned into an amazingly fabulous Pocket Door.  I know it's hard to even figure out what's going on here but I promise to post more pics soon to you can see even more of the process.

I'm also over-moon happy my sink's cabinet will finally be painted this weekend.  "Cottage White" rules!

Thanks for peeking in again today!  Don't forget about my Hanging Christmas Sachet Pillow GIVEAWAY that started yesterday!  Follow this LINK or check it out on my sidebar!

Love to you~

Oh my seeing your pictures brings back awful memories of my bathrooms being remodeled. Now who would do their only two bathrooms at the same time? What was I thinking? We had concrete floors for 6 months and no shower doors for over a month! When I think back I'm not sure how I survived. Our plumber messed up our showers so bad my husband had to take over and redo all the plumbing himself. We did a partial remodel to the kitchen and replaced all the flooring in the entire house so the mess was overwhelming! I hope yours gets finished soon. I know what you're going through.
Hugs,
Denise

Rebecca, there is nothing like a new redo to keep the love going!! Just focus on the after, it's going to make all the mess and headaches so well worth it. Keep smiling and the chin up girlfriend. It's like giving birth, going through all the pain, and in the end you would do it all over again for what you hold dear in your arms, Char

WOW... giving over total control is an amazing feat in itself yes? I find that to be the hardest thing in the world to do. I want a say in all the rooms. I must admit, once in a while I'll look at sweet hubs and say, "it's your baby... go as your will takes you" but it's almost always "safe" projects. Hehe. See, it's hard for me. I'm definately a color person as it affects my moods when things get to dark and dreary. Light and bright or middle of the road. I say this because, he wants a chocolate & tea dye/cream bedroom. Not brown R, oh no. Chocolate. I told another blogger, you think it has ANYTHING to do with menopausal happiness? Before you know it, you'll be hanging shelves and painting things to put on them. Hugs. T... thank you for advertising my GIVEAWAY. I appreciate it.

Oh..soon it will be over and you will be so over-the-moon that you will forget how bad it was. Would you believe we have remodeled from inside/out 13 houses? We lived in all of them as we were remodeling except for the last two. I think I may have one more left in me (to downsize). A lot of work..but I loved it all! ...well...most of it. I love your sink/cabinet...can't wait to see it painted. It's gorgeous! hugs-Diana

Oh Rebecca, it is such a mess and terrible to live through, but just think of how beautiful it is going to be when it is all done. Dream on, girl, and you can get through it all. It will be wonderful when it is all done. I have been working on this house for over two years now and I feel your pain! Can't wait to see the final product!!!

Been there done that Rebecca, and know the perils of living in a mess while remodeling, but if that vanity is a sign of what's to come, then girl it will be worth all that dust. It is so beautiful, but anything that you do is always beautiful
We have just finished a porch renovation done by just the two of us, I can't tell you how many times I would say " what were you thinking?" lol We are still recuperating from it. lol.
Wishing you and your family a most blessed Thanksgiving.
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Sue

I love that sink/cabinet! Is it an antique piece you found? It's gonna be worth all the work & wait. I can hardly wait to see the final product when your bathroom is complete!!

Blessings & hugs, Sherry

Rebecca,
There has got to be a special powder room in heaven for women like us that go through remodeling projects that take a loooonnnggg time to complete!
Haaaaaaaaaaa

I will go dancing when our kitchen is completed. Long story short......i'm still waiting for the kitchen to even get started. A boiler is going in this week-end.
Appreciate your prayers. It has been a long process. (God bless my hubby...remodeling at the same time of taking care of a sick wife.)

Have a super week especially with Thanksgiving coming.
