~VINTAGE FRENCHY WHITE SOMETHING-OR-OTHER~

I found this neat old contraption the other day!  It was gold (pretty corroded!) and in my opinion almost ready for the trash!  Anyone know what it is???  Bet you ladies that grew up in the 60's will know in an instant!
How about with the insert in the canister part?  Know what it is yet?
Here's an up-close shot!  Know now?
Here's the base!  Pretty stand, huh?  LOVE IT!
Does this help you?

Well...if you guessed a vintage Dixie Cup Holder then you would be right!  Isn't it fabulous?  I picked it up at our local thrift store a couple of weeks ago for $1.99.  I knew what it was when I found it even though I hadn't seen one in a long time!  I'm keeping this one...sure beats the one on the left, huh?

The Cup Holder was easy to transform!  Cleaned it with TSP De-Greaser and then primed it with spray primer.  Coated it with my favorite soft white paint and then antiqued it with AS dark wax!  It now sits in my powder room bath where it fits right in!

I'm totally bummed that Kathleen from Faded Charm has chosen to discontinue the super-fun link party,
White Wednesday.

Even thought I'm disappointed I totally understand her reasoning behind her decision!  Blogging is SUPPOSE to be fun!  She is continuing her blog and that makes me happy!  White Wednesday was my favorite linky party and I will miss it!  If anyone decides to pick it up please let me know!

Hope your Thursday is fab!

Love to you...

At first I thought it was a hairspray canister like I used to have... that is so fun, glad you are keeping it!... I think alot of ladies are quitting the parties, some even stopping blogging... I am taking a little break... and just sticking with my old friends, like you (old, in that we have known each other since the start, not OLD!)... it's just not the same atmosphere as it used to be... and I don't like all of the competition to see who is bigger and better... just not me!... anyway, hope you are enjoying a beautiful Autumn day today... much love, xoxo Julie Marie

Never would have guessed that one in a million years, Rebecca! That is pretty fabulous for something that held dixie cups!

I would have never guessed what that contraption was. I've never seen one before. But you can be sure, I will know what it is if I ever run into one :-)

I thought it was a hairspray canister too! I do remember them as paper cup holders, but not pretty white of course!

Dearest Rebecca,

That was a lovely find and frankly, I had NO clue as to what it was.
One thing I have to let you know about your blog. It is always fun to visit but your music has scared me many times as I do my blogging when husband Pieter is long asleep. All of a sudden when I click yours, the silence in the house is suddenly broken and I have to turn the volume down...
Maybe it's me, and not so much the daytime visitors.
Hugs to you,
Mariette

Wow - what a sweet vintage find! I love GIFTs like this...and that's what I think when I come across something like this...it's a special gift to us. :) You did a great job giving it a fresh vintage look with distressing it. I LOVE DISTRESSED items.
