~TO MARKET TO MARKET...BUT NO FAT PIG~

I did something this weekend I haven't done in years!  My Mr. AGPMan and I attended the Dallas WHOLESALE Market in Dallas, Texas.  We had a wonderful time and came home with lots of orders placed, fabulous cash/carry items, great catalogs and we met some incredible artisans!
My most favorite part of MARKET was visiting the Temporary Spaces/Booths held in Market Hall.  Lots of amazing furniture, both antique, vintage and reproduction.  All yummy!

Came home with fresh ideas as visiting Market Showrooms always inspire.  Finished reworking and revamping this lovely old chest this morning.  Isn't it charming?  Didn't have to do much as it was already painted.  Just needed some distressing!
Love the glass knobs.  Toooo sweet!

Would love to have your take on going to the Wholesale Markets.  Have you ever been?  Do you love going?  P. Allen Smith (from HGTV Home/Gardening Show) was there this weekend and I thought he was a wonderful speaker and so talented!

More to share soon...

~THE MOST AMAZING VINTAGE SHABBY COTTAGE CHIC CHEST EVER~

Way back in February I shared with you all about my fabulous Craigslist find!  Remember this gorgeous vintage chest of drawers?  I fell in love with it even though it had a few minor issues...
The drawers were all in working order and the entire chest seemed to be sturdy and strong.  Just a wee bit of repair work was needed on some missing carved scroll work, but other than that it was an absolutely stunning piece of furniture!  Not sure I'd have even considered painting it had there not been the missing pieces (you can see some of the missing pieces on drawer #2).

Here she is after her makeoverCertainly the most beautiful and enchanting vintage chest I've ever given seen.   Hard to let this one go!
The original handles/pulls were left in place and some creative work clay-work was needed to refashion the missing piece of scroll work.  Not perfect, but you really can't tell unless you are looking!
Isn't the crown on the chest beautiful?
Beautiful detail work!

I love how this vintage 1920's era chest came out...couldn't wait to show you!

Destined for my shoppe/booth today!

Love to you...

~MY INCREDIBLE VINTAGE FIND ON CRAIGSLIST~

Not sure just how old this amazing antique chest of drawers is, but trust me when I tell you it's old, fabulous and an incredible find!  Simply put it's more than beautiful.  It's solid wood through and through and every single piece of hardware is in perfect condition.  My guess is that the chest hails from the 1920's or maybe even a bit earlier.  I'm not too good at dating furniture, but given similar advertising pictures shown in my 1912 Women's Home Companion magazine I don't think I'm far off in my assumptions...
Now...I don't camp out at our local Craigslist site even though I probably should visit it more often that I do.  'Tis true there is allllottta junk listed for sale, but every once in awhile it is possible to score something wonderful!  Last summer I purchased a French Cabinet for $50 and I still swoon when I think about it!
Well...a couple of days ago I happened to log onto the CL website looking for a couple of pieces of furniture begging for a makeover (I'm on a quest to fill up my soon-to-open booth space).  After perusing several categories (antiques, vintage, furniture, etc.) I stumbled upon a listing for a Vintage/Antique Chest that caught my eye.  After a quick phone call to make sure it was still available my guy and I headed out the door to view the piece in person.
The chest was about 15 miles from our home and so it only took a few minutes to get there.  A nice man met us outside his beautiful home and he quickly led us to the garage where the chest was being stored.
After looking over the piece and making sure it wasn't falling completely apart (strong drawers, no missing hardware, no big gashes or broken legs, etc.) we agreed on a price and the deal was done.
Pretty fun, but slightly ho-hum story, right?
See a piece, buy a piece, haul it home, etc...

Well get this...

After chatting with the seller for a few minutes we found out we attended the same Oklahoma University (SNU/Bethany) back in the late 70's and shared mutual friends.  Then we discovered he knew my sister and bro-in-love in Tennessee very well and had once been my sister's boss.
Now how cool is that???

I've shared before how I don't (and never will) believe in coincidences!  I love it when I'm reminded that my steps are ordered and directed by The Most High.

Life is grand!

My project for early next week is to whip this baby into shape using some AS paint with maybe some glazing...hmmmm.  White paint is in it's future for sure.  Promise to share with you the process as I go!

~FINDING THE PERFECT SHABBY COTTAGE VINTAGE BED~

 ~GORGEOUS VINTAGE BED~

I heard on the Antique Roadshow a couple of days ago that a true ANTIQUE is something over 100 years old!  For some reason I thought it was anything over 50.  I guess that means this gorgeous bed only qualifies as VINTAGE!
~LOVE THE PEDIMENT~

You may remember I've been looking for a bed for one of my upstairs bedrooms.  I first planned on getting just a twin, but ONE DAY my home will be filled with more grandchildren and so I decided to hunt for a full bed instead!  While out estate sale shopping with my friend Judy last week we eyed this fabulous 1930's bed and I decided to bring her home with me.  She will be my FALL MAKEOVER PROJECT and I'm excited about her transformation!

I know all you purist antique people are going to FAINT at the thought of me painting it...but I'm going to!

Just giving you fair warning here! :)
~LOVE THIS NEW BED~

This morning I did some looking on the computer and I found the sweet new bed above.  I like it and I'm hoping my new OLD BED will look as lovely once everything is set!  Not looking forward to painting all those spindles, but I'm sure I'll get through it!

Found this one at FOREVER PINK COTTAGE CHIC and just loved it!  You've got to check out their website.  If you love painted furniture you are going to LOVE what you see here.  I'm swooning already!

Hope your day is awesome!  I'm back in my workshop once again working on new product!  It's also time to clean up my working space after some busy, busy days!  Things are getting a bit out of hand!

Love to you...
