~HOMES OF GOTHENBURG! Nebraska At It's BEST~

PRETTY LANDSCAPED VICTORIAN

Sometimes I feel as though I was born to make a home a home~ Sort of like it's been my calling! Make sense? It does to me. No matter where I've laid my head, each little place I've lovingly shared with my hubby somehow has been transformed into a real home.

PATRIOTISM WITH STYLE

3 CHEERS FOR THE RED, WHITE & BLUE

DRESSED FOR THE 4TH OF JULY

CELEBRATING INDEPENDENCE

I've made a home in so many towns since marrying my Mr. AGPMan that even now the thought of having sixteen different addresses during our 30 years of marriage seems impossible to fully comprehend~ Especially since we've lived in our "La Chaumière de Briarwood" for 17 years now...

BLUE, BLUE MY WORLD IS BLUE

Last week my hubby and I traveled north for a visit to his childhood home of Gothenburg, Nebraska. And it would be in this tiny town we were to make the "first" of our many homes together. It was a humble little dwelling...just a ramshackle apartment that cost us a whopping $78 per month. It sported large windows and of all the places I've lived before and since, it was my least favorite. It had peg-board cabinets and a tub with a shower that never worked. We lived there for only a short time after we married in 1978 and even though the outside of the apartment has changed a little, most of it remains as we left it three decades ago. This is a picture of our first home as it is today. Top right apartment in the very back...

SUCH A SAD LITTLE THING...

...BUT IT WAS HOME FOR A WHILE

THIS IS WHERE WE ATTENDED CHURCH

Many of the homes in Gothenburg appear to be postcard perfect. Neat and tidy gardens overflowing with romantic roses while fanciful flowers frame the narrow driveways and wrap-around porches. Some of the houses are truly grand. And then there are others that seem oddly out of step with the earth and sky around them. Obviously birthed in haste, built to last only a few years and yet amazingly many have survived for close to a century...

THIS HOUSE IS TRULY GRAND

I found myself wondering, even if only for a moment, why it was we moved away... I suppose the easy answer is that small town living didn't mix well with this city-lovin', hard-headed, mind-ever-changin' gal~ Sooooo...my sweet hubby scooped me up and away we went...

CHARMING COTTAGE ON THE PLAIN

Thanks for stopping in for a quick peek at my hubby's hometown... Hope you enjoyed the tour!

Blessings to you as you find life in all the places you call home...Rebecca

~VINTAGE HOME TOUR - Guthrie Oklahoma~

Last week while I was taking pictures of the vintage brick buildings in Guthrie, Oklahoma, I also snapped a few photos of some of the sweetest old homes in the town as well! Below are a FEW of those you can find in this historic town... I love the house above but it does sorta remind me of a little church...what do you think?

While my camera clicked away my hubby walked up and grabbed one of the information sheets on this property. This house is listed for $289,000. Not a bad price unless you consider the fact that you can just about touch the neighbor's house next door!

I especially love this one! Truly magical...but...those shrubs gotta go. I'm sure the owners are keeping them because they are no doubt as old as the house. Still...they remind me B-I-G GREEN GHOSTS! :(

Now...this house is a charmer! Painted yellow brick and all. Wasn't that song in the Wizard of Oz "Follow the Yellow Brick House?" :)...

Here's another beauty! Three full levels of absolute perfection! I'm not sure if the first floor was always "glassed in". I'm thinking that it might have once been an open porch...

Now...this is one I would buy! I love everything about it. The cream with white trim and the black shutters just steal my heart away... I could absolutely live here!

I can certainly appreciate the style of this beautiful home! Not one I would probably buy, but it is gorgeous none-the-less! Reminds me of something you'd find in Beverly Hills, California!

I fell in love with the porch and railing on this pretty home! It is in lovely condition and you can tell it's been well cared for...

In this part of historic Guthrie the streets are still red brick! I just love it!

Now...the next picture is something that will make your heart skip a beat...

What in the world happened? This is truly devastating to see. Not sure how old this house was...about 100 years old...don't know what caused this fire either!!! My Mr.AGPMan and I crept up close to get a better view of the interior damage and the entire thing is charred black! Someone's dream went up in smoke! :.....(

I promise to show you more vintage homes in Guthrie before the Summer's end.

Blessings to you as you wonder with me what it would be like if these houses could talk...Rebecca

VINTAGE PINK VICTORIAN HOUSE

PINK HOUSE IN PINE BLUFF ARKANSAS
(Through My Hubby's Car Window!)

I shared with you all last week that my hubbs had to travel out of town for business. He made a quick trip down south to Little Rock, Arkansas, and I truly wish I could have gone with him! We lived in the state for a few months right after we were married and the countryside was easy to fall in love with...the land is amazingly beautiful!

My Mr. AGPMan knows I simply adore vintage homes. I can't pass one by without begging to stop for a roadside visit. Since I couldn't join him on his business jaunt he took it upon himself to watch out for those sweet old homes for his high-maintenance, pink rose lovin' gal! On his way through Pine Bluff he passed this charming PINK Victorian and couldn't resisit snapping a picture for me. Pretty good for a camera phone, huh?

BACK/SIDE VIEW OF THE HOME

Even though the gorgeous old home needs some TLC (and probably some seriously big bucks!), I would love to make it mine... The next time my guy makes his way to Arkansas you can believe I'm going to be with him!

Couldn't resist showing this beautiful pink beauty off to you! Hope you love it, too!

Blessings as you make your house a home...Rebecca
