"LOVE IS..." and Other Things That Matter"

"LOVE IS...
Not raising the roof when she
borrows from the piggy bank"

Let it be said...my Mr. AGPMan is better handling our finances than I am.

Painful to admit, but true! If not for him we would have no savings, nothing held back for a rainy day. Because of his discipline (and his detail oriented, math-lovin brain), we have done a fairly good job of stashing away some funds for our retirement...

When I get OUT OF CONTROL (and lately that has been quite often!) he lovingly speaks to me words of financial wisdom by simply saying this:

"Miss PIGGY (um...that would be our bank account) is dying from lack of nourishment, Rebecca! It's time for YOU to feed her!"

I hate it when he's right.

Blessings to you as you save, save, save...spend...and then save, save, save some more...Rebecca

Hi Rebecca sweet,
Very wise words for us all. I wish that when I was younger I would have learned this better. It took more years than I would like to admit, to deny myself something for a fatter bank account.
Hugs,
June

The golden rule of saving, put back twice as much as you borrow and you'll never be behind. Of course, most times easier said then done. But it's a good rule :)

Rebecca, your husband sounds like such a loving and wise man.

Ron believes in saving! We save money and always have...thank the good Lord for the peace it helps to give us as the type of work Ron is in makes us vulnerable to job layoffs.

We have never been ones to run out and buy the latest and the greatest. I am so glad.

XOXO

I enjoy your Love is... posts...I have several of these stashed away in our wedding book, from our first year of marriage (1979) I wish we still had sweet toons like this.

I manage the bacon, Hubby brings home...he always asks me if we can afford such and such...

Don't feel bad, we all get out of control at times...I find it very hard not to lust after items I see on blogs...I just keep a running "wish list" in my mind...smiles~~

Well, Rebecca, those aren't QUITE!! the words that Harold uses, but suffice it to say the message is certainly the same. He, too, has always been good about the finances ... I would reply 'okie dokie, if you must'. Glad he 'must'. I am so grateful for Harold ... he does for me & lets me 'do' but occasionally I get that 'look' ... love him! Hugs, TTFN ~Marydon

Soo this is good sweet friend..very good..He's soo easy, just needs to be able to get "stuff" when he wants to !! This works out just perfect !!! Isn't it nice when our husbands address money issues with kindness? My husband is in the money business, which makes it a little difficult at times. Sweet is so much better!

I love those little cartoons.

I am the saver in our family. Not because I wanted to, but when we got married my Hubby said I should take care of the money and pay the bills because he was not good at it.

What a HUGE BLESSING to have a hubby that is financially disciplined!!!!
Oh the horror stories I have lived early on...
God has had to birth a miracle in our marriage because we were two very distinct people that had different ideas on how a home is rannnnnnnn.

God Bless and thank you for being honest and sharing.

Right now, it seems as if all we're doing is writing checks for college, etc. Still and yet, as I can, I stash away a few quarters/dollars and before long, have a little something extra. Being a single-income family limits our savings. We're just thankful to be able to pay our bills every month.

Thanks for your very encouraging words to me today; they mean so very much.

Rebecca, thank you for thinking of me and my dh and for your prayers. We still wait on tests and test results, but God is faithful!

Your post today is so timely for me! Jeff and I are in Missouri visiting our sweet son and his family. We have stumbled upon some great little flea markets, full to the brim of many delicate, feminine things for my cottage.

I must show restraint and buy carefully, but it's hard when there are so many things, and our trips here are few! :)

Take care, and many, many blessings to you dear, sweet friend.

Andrea
