RAINDROPS AND ROSES - Staying In For The Day...

RAINDROPS AND HAND PAINTED ROSES

Crystal raindrops are falling hard against the windows of my La Chaumière de Briarwood today. My plans for visiting my favorite antique haunts and vintage decor shoppes have been dashed! I do not like driving in pounding rain and so I don't. Despite the gloomy, almost lemony-gray colored sky, I welcome this random watering of the earth. I breathe it in and it calms my restless spirit. I'm not TOO upset that my day's plans were altered...

I'm still a bit agitated over my ordeal of two days ago. Truthfully, I was looking forward to a little shopping and discovering charming new finds... and of course lunching at Mimi's with my precious friend, Lindsay. Instead, I will stay home and work play at restocking both my ETSY and eBay shelves. (It's going to be a while before I get enough product finished to reopen my Website...I will though...just be patient with me, OK?).

Here's a sampling of what's coming up....

Circa 1940 Drop Front Secretary

This simply delightfully sweet, drop-front Secretary will soon to be adorned with hand painted pink roses and dainty sagey green leaves... So shabby chic!

OPENED UP!

And you ONLY THOUGHT I was taking a break! NOT! It takes a LONG TIME to base paint things and this is only a small portion of what will be offered up before Christmas! I love what I do...so much fun and therapeutic, too! Especially so on days like today... I don't have to get dressed up and trudge through puddles or drive on rain-slicked streets to complete a project!

LOTS OF PRETTIES COMING UP

I especially love the vintage shoeshine box above and the soon-to-be pink rose ornaments! Yummy!

And...this charming vintage hanging lamp is just too good to be true! She will eventually have hand painted roses and rosebuds accenting each candle cover...SWEET!

Shabby PINK Chic

One last bit of news...

I'm ALMOST finished with the TUTORIAL on HOW TO PRINT IMAGES ON FABRIC! I hope to have it all ready for you by the middle of the month!

Blessings to you as wrestle with the rain, bask in the sun, whistle while you work or lazy the day away enjoying the very life you've been given...Rebecca

I love a day like that once in awhile...staying in sweats and a t-shirt. I am sorry you missed a lunch out though. I wish I was as organized as you and could get that much done. I am pouting as my nest was recently emptied of the last baby a week ago. I hope to get back in the swing soon. Make it a great day.

Oh honey, you have such a wonderful talent. I love looking at your work, and one day hope to have one of them hanging in my own house somewhere. What a gift God has blessed you with. I hope you got my email about Angel Amy. No food until tomorrow, then after her test they will admit her to the hospital and feed her through to Sunday night. Her surgery is going to be on Monday - the 10th at the Presbytarian hospital. They wll let them know what time tomorrow. Thank God she will get some food tomorrow. If she can just hang on a little bit longer. I really did not know that the State could refuse something as important as feeding a person. Giving them a chance to live. What kind of deal is that anyway? Well honey, that is all for now. I am so thrilled that someone somewhere in this country is enjoying some rain. None in sight for the valley. I am going to Sedona tomorrow with Jamie from MiMi's Corner. I am praying for cooler temps up there. I will be searching for a Pink Saturday post. Have a beautiful day honey, Country Hugs and love, Sherry

Thank you so much for you kind comments. And thank you for your prayers for my dh, who is doing great! Praise God! I am so, so thankful!!!

I am definitely going to buy the Bedrooms and Baths issue. And I can't wait to see it! I only wish I had the old issues of Romantic Homes that featured your beautiful work.

Enjoy your rainy day. It is, indeed, a gift.

Many blessings, dear sweet friend.

I didn't think of it until I read your notes today, Rebecca ... somewhere I have my DHs shoe shine stand just like yours. He used to shine shoes when he was about 10 or so at a local barber shop. I wonder where it is! It even has his brushes, etc., still in it. Memories ...

I have already pictured the items all painted ... & they will be exquisitely romantic, as is everything you touch.

Sorry it is raining & muffed up your plans but look at all the 'fun' creations you are going to work on ... grab a cup of tea, a pastry (this is to sooth you ... chuckle!), the paint brush & go to it, my friend. We got our rain during the night so I hope it is done for the day.

Hey Sweetie!
Oh How I LOVE those rainy days when you HAD plans but they need to change! Sometimes it IS the best excuse to just stay home and CREATE! And YES, you my dear are a wonderful Artist! I had to have some dear friends convince me first before I did believed it myself! Isn't that something? and yet, it's always been a huge part of who I am.

So sorry to read about your scary mishap with your rollers! Like you I have limp, super straight no body hair..nothing but lotsa gels a HOT curling iron and hair spary for this girl...and alas, short hair though I wish I could have it long! Maybe in heaven?

Create your heart away today...you've got some great goodies just awaiting your special touch. Hmm...I think I have one of this piles too..I just need to do it! lol

Hugs...Lorena

I just read about your episode with the curlers. Oh, I would have been so upset. Once my daughter, very young put a rubber bracelet on the light bulb of her table lamp. Why??? Anyways...same thing...that thing was a burning. Thankfully, the curtains didn't catch or we would have surely lost a lot. I know how scary that can be. Enjoy your rain...and buy some new curlers!!!

Hi Rebbeca,
I love the rainy days in my studio. One of my favorite times to work.
Sorry your plans today were altered. A thrifting and lunch day is always a welcome event, but look at all the pretties you have ready to finish.
Your stash of base coated treasures looks like my pile of goodies. Several days to base, then several more to finish, and the whole process starts again.

I love the dropleaf desk and the chandelier is going to be gorgeous.

My goodness I was so sorry to read about the curlers on fire. What a scary thing to have happen. I am so glad you are okay. I use a big flat iron and it gets very hot, now I am going to check to make sure it is off when I walk out of the room.

Enjoy your rain and your creative day. Blessings to you.
Love, Celestina Marie

Hi Rebecca, I am so happy to see that your spirit is soaring and you have left the experiences of the other day behind you. As for the rain my dear friend, enjoy every rain drop, we in the desert haven't seen any in so long, I can only imagine what the smell and sound is like. Rain here usually happens at night when the desert temperature cools, therefore we miss it. It's just way too hot during the daylight hours.
You look like you are very well organized, I could use some of that myself. Be well and we'll chat later, Char

Yes a little bit of treasure hunting can certainly cheer a girl up! Sorry the rain came down and washed out your plans. The goodies you've been working on look very tempting. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished products!

At last... I need to check to see if He!! has frozen over!! LOL!!
Have a great day!

Miss Rebecca- I haven't seen rain in so long, I have forgotten what it looks like.
However, God is good, everything is as it should be.
Your blog is like a light rainfall- refreshing and lovely.
Have a great weekend,

Sometimes, a rainy day is just what works best for me. I can take time to regroup and think quietly about what I might like to do (or not do) next. It can be the most refreshing thing in the world.

Your new items are coming along beautifully! Those softly tinted pastel base paints are lovely and I know your painted roses will soon cover them with warm expressions of love. What a talent you have and it comes straight from your innermost spirit. Oh so lovely!

Hi there-Your work is just gorgeous! I found you through Whimsy by Victoria, and so glad I did! Even your blog seems to be such and extension of you. I suppose you could tell from Victoria's post that I too love to paint. Anything that stands still for too long gets painted around here. My style is not quite as shabby chic, but I do appreciate it very much. My mother on the other hand, would be crazy, crazy, crazy, over your things. She gives me a hard time that I do not paint roses and flowers, something I am not good at, so I tend to stay away from and let the pros like you handle that!

Glad to meet you!

Hi Sweet Rebecca,
I think you will be plenty busy for awhile prettifying these treasures. Maybe it could rain a little longer. I know when I paint a piece of furniture, it takes me days to complete. I take a lot of time priming and painting. I like to make sure that the finish will last for years. You are such a pro and I love it when you share your secrets with those who may not know how to finish a piece. Somehow though, I can't see you covered in paint from head to toe. I'll bet you are cleaner at it than I am.
Hugs,
June
