~LET THE HUNT BEGIN - Oklahoma Tag Sale Finds

~TOO DARK FOR MY HOME~
(But Still Lovely As Ever)

With warmer weather on the horizon I'm antsy about the return of Tag Sale Shopping. Although really great garage and estate sales can be found in Oklahoma all year long, there is just nothing quite like those spring and summertime jaunts around our city that, more often than not, unearth fabulous treasures.

I'm already weak in the knees thinking about finding snippets of old laces and ribbons, aging pieces of rose china and maybe even a lovely sampling of vintage barkcloth...

A few days ago I made my way to a grand old sale and snagged this pretty tiered shelf for only a few bucks...

Well...it was MORE than a few bucks if you want to know the truth. Not everything I find is a bargain, you know? :( But I did manage to winkle out of the seller a better than quoted price. Besides...I was looking for this exact kind of shelf for my formal dinning room! I'd have even have paid him his asking price if he'd stuck to his guns!

If he only knew!

~JUST PERFECT NOW~
(Brush Painting Rules!)

And so the ritual began.

I cleared away the painting table in my hubby's shop, cleaned the shelf up and then primed it with my favorite ZINSSER Primer. A couple coats of soft and creamy cottage white paint later and my lovely little shelf was almost good to go!

I love GENTLE distressing because it adds a hint of dimension to aging woodwork. After two LONG days of curing, my Mr. AGPMan hung my new little pretty in place.

DRESSED TO THE NINES
(Sorry for the Gray-Day Photo)

Here she is dressed and ready for her close-up!

~A BIG LARGER VIEW~

Now, even though I'd much rather play decorator, I'm off to do some real work which in turn will allow me to purchase the things like I've just shared with you.

~I BUY, I BUY! SO...OFF TO CREATE SAYS I~

Blessings to you as you enjoy the first beautiful week of March...

Happy Monday to you Rebecca :) This shelf turned out just wonderful, as does everything you make over! I have a shelf very much like this one; a bit narrower than yours, though, and it too was an ugly brown but I painted it a nice shade of white, and have it in my Living Room filled with some of my pretty rose china pieces. Don't you just love this style of shelving!! I'd like to have 1 or 2 more to display in my home (if I can make room for them).

Hope you have a wonderful creative week! warmest, Brenda

SO let me get this straight Rebecca. You just found this pretty shelf this weekend, AND you already painted it, AND hung it, AND gussied her all up? You are my idol.

Hi Rebecca, what a great find and yes I see you are a good haggler too! Isn't it fun to be able to save a couple of bucks! I love how it turned out and you definately have a gift for making pretty arangements!! I just LOVE how you set it all up! I bought a shelf not long ago and WAS going to put my sewing things on it but might have to reconsider! lol!

Oh Rebecca, your shelf is so pretty. I love everything you chose to put on it. My home has so many windows...which is nice in AZ, but doesn't leave much wall space. I would love something like that though if I could. But I will just enjoy yours from afar. Looks like you had a wonderfully productive weekend!

Hi again Rebecca, thanks so much for popping by and your comment did make me giggle..but just had to tell you why my chandy was in storage...... I never had a room for it. I was waiting for my extension to be built as I added on a 'formal' lounge and had bought this chandy just for this room. Have a lovely productive week, take care, Maryann

Hi Rebecca,
Oh I agree with you so much on the longing for Spring treasure hunting. I did go for my birthday last Sunday, but did not find much! Timing is everything I guess.

Love the shelf you found and love the transformation.
Everything is perfect with your treasures adorning her. Gorgeous my friend.
My redesigned bathroom is coming to an end soon. I am so behind in the studio, but my right arm needed a rest and so that may be good too.
I am happiest swinging that paint brush. Like you said, "really helps when you love to shop" LOL

Love you sweets,
Celestina Marie
