A TIME FOR CHANGE

~ CREAMY COTTAGE WHITE~
(w/Hand Painted Pink Roses)

Over the past few weeks I've been busily working refurbishing pretty finds for my home. Aside from reopening my website and working towards keeping it stocked, (head's-up... I'll be uploading new painted pretties during the day tomorrow) , I've made a commitment to whittle down the things in my storage shed. Even though I don't make New Year's Resolutions (for the obvious reasons), I do set goals for myself each year. Starting last January I scheduled something to complete each month and so far I'm right on track! This is HUGE for me because my head is always spinning away with ideas. It's easy for me to lose sight of why I even bought something if I'm not careful.

The clock you see above was a real steal a few years ago. The only problem is that it was black! For at least 24 months I've whined about repainting it...well~ I finally did! I absolutely LOVE how it came out and couldn't wait to show it off. I placed it in my upstairs landing, just to the left of our guestroom door. Inside each door (top, middle and bottom) the clock holds all of our Miss K's DVD's! Since the little TV she watches is upstairs, it is a great place to store all her favorite Movies...

~ORIGINAL BLACK PAINT~

Even when the clock was black it truly was a delightful piece! It just didn't go with any of my things! Now that it's repainted I can't believe I put off doing it for soooo long! I love it! ACK! Sometimes I just hate my weaknesses! :(

~REPAINTED AND CHARMING~

This shot was taken at the top of my stairs (see the banister?). The room you see is our guestroom. This room was in Romantic Homes Magazine (2006) but has since be redecorated. Love it even more now! Change is good! Even when decorating in Shabby Cottage Chic style, every now and then I believe an update is sometimes necessary!

~SHABBY COTTAGE CHIC~
I painted the entire clock with a sponge brush a soft cottage white. The face of the clock was removed and in the corners I hand painted pink roses! I opted not to paint roses on the front of the clock's body (doors). As much as I love PINK ROSES (And I do! I DO!), sometimes I just think less is more...you know? Besides, I'm really wanting to hand paint some sweet little roses on the wall and if I also paint them on the clock, well...for me it will just be too much!
~UP-CLOSE VIEW OF CLOCK~
I left the original numbers and lettering on the clock's face in tact. I painted out the decor in the corners and replaced it with my own artwork!
In the end I'm very pleased with the results. I just wish I wasn't the world's worst procrastinator. I do well when it comes to getting things done for others...but I'm really terrible at keeping up with finishing projects in my own home! My hubbs helps keep me on track...
Hope you enjoyed a peek into my home. The closer we get to Spring I promise to upload more pictures, including those of the outside. I think it's lovely!
Blessings as you work at beautifying your own home...Rebecca

OH REBECCA, I have to tell you honestly.. this is by far my favorite piece. There is something very stately about a clock that stands tall to tell you of time wasted or well spent. Today is a not so good day for me and your procrastination reminder haunts me. I too have sooo much to do and so little time it seems to fit it in. Your clock my dear friend is stunning. I agree with your decision to have less be more. It is stunning. Congrats to you for finishing it up. Maybe your inspiration will inspire me through a rough period.

I can't wait to view your pictures to come. Always delightful.

Rebecca,
Your clock looks so much better painted cottage white. It was nice being black but now it is gorgeous! Your roses added the perfect touch too! I also have a tall clock that has a curio under it that is cherry. I have been tempted several times to paint it white but have never gotten up the nerve to do so. I think you have helped me to make up my mind! I also have a cherry highboy that I'm thinking about painting. I've had it for about 15 years and it is time for a change. I plan on putting it in my dining room and storing my table linens in it. Thank you for the motivation!

Hugs,
Lee Laurie

I love the little picture next to the clock!! Tom and I just purchased the same one, at one of the antique shops we shopped at last weekend. But...it's in a vinyl covered frame! ACK!!!

So, I'll be re-doing that one. A nice new (or old) frame and some mats!!! It's so pretty!!!

Hey Rebecca,
I really like the cabinet you bought for you upstairs landing. I am friends with Lee Laurie from A Southern Rose. I wanted to let you know that you made her day. She was so excited on her way to the post office. As soon as I home, she had to show me he prize and then we took some pictures. She is a very sweet and loving lady....you made her smile and filled her heart with joy and I thank you. The pillow is pretty and you did a wonderful job. She will keep it forever....for real....I wanted to personally thank you for making her day.
Take care and God bless you,

Such a clever post title. Love the clock black and love it white. It is amazing how you take the same piece, paint it, and dress it so beautifully.

Rebbeca dear, I can't tell you how beautiful that clock turn out. It is so much prettier in white, and the most wonderful part is the roses you painted on the face. I'm hoping I get the one my mother had. When my mother died my dad remarried and still has the clock. I'm hoping he will give it to me one of these days. Hes kinda of strange in his ways, so I'm hoping he will give in.

I loooooove your blog so much. You have such wonderful taste girl..
