~~~VINTAGE PAINTING DESK~~~ Old Finds With a Purpose
SOON TO BE TRANSFORMED
OK...OK! I've heard you LOUD and CLEAR!!! I've received enough direct emails about my fabulous find from yesterday that I decided to post a picture or two of my new-found treasure! This is simply the sweetest writing/painting desk and it is perfect for my studio! I actually WANTED to wait and show you both the before and after pictures at the same time, but--I'm afraid that too many of you are like me and are "patience deprived!" :) Sooo...here it is! :)
After viewing pictures of my friend's (and fellow painter, Celeste's) studio, I was inspired to clean up my space! Her workplace is gorgeous and it made me feel like a real piggy! Now, I'm not a slob mind you, but my studio isn't all that big and it has been in dire need of some serious help for a long, long time now! It's been easy for me to put off the re-furbishing of it...it's definitely been at the END of my To-Do-List! Hmmm~maybe that is why you've never seen pictures of it!
Anyway, this fabuloso desk is a start at what I'm hoping won't be too big a project. The desk is BIG and it's made at the perfect angle for painting all those Signs I'm hoping to finish and send you way! Maybe by the Fall I'll be brave enough to show you just where I create...(notice I said "MAYBE"!). At the very least I'll show you a picture of the desk once it is transformed!
You know, I never ever take for granted when I discover truly neat finds! I once thought it sorta strange when things I was longing for (and often even in need of) just seemed to just FIND THEIR WAY TO ME!!! This may sound odd to some of you, but I feel like I am directed to most of the stuff I go in search of. Even when I'm forced to pass something up because the timing isn't right or the cost is too high, I always seem to be redirected to something better later on. After a day of treasure seeking, I'm truly content in the knowing that God has indeed directed my every step.
After all, if we seek God first, the things we want will seek us.
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you..." Matthew 6:33
Blessings to you as you discover His treasures...Rebecca
Rebecca!
That is just PEFECT!!! Wowzers is what I would say!!!! I am sure you are being very modest...especially after see the beautiful rooms you have created in your home.
We MUST be kindred spirits cause the same thing happens to me over and over again...and I KNOW its not a coincidence! Isn't neat to know that even in these small things GOD is in it too? I am so amazed at how he takes care of even the smaller things in our lives.
Celeste is a dear friend of mine too...isn't her room just so special? She got me inspired to get my room back in order and organized after Christmas/Easter chaos reigned in there...so at least now I can create again..and paint!
Have a blessed day sweetie! Lorena
Whoa!! I can picture where you will take this piece. It is wonderful, Rebecca. You don't see these pieces in our antique shops ... we haven't had one for years to sell. And, it is in such good condition. Patience .. there is none when it comes to viewing your creations, trust me. We want to see NOW ... don't take too long ...... chuckle!
What a talent you have been blessed with ... have a beautiful weekend.
Hi there. Wonderful desk. There was one similar to this one at our local antique store. They wanted a pretty hefty dime for it too. Gorgeous.
You my dear have another award to celebrate. Please come pick it up at my blog. I generally dont' do these but this one is very worthy.
Hi Rebecca, So sweet to hear from you. I love this find of yours. I know what you mean about things you desire, finding their way to you. I love the scripture you cited here and that's how I try to live my life. I think when we are truly thankful for all we have been given, we are given more.
Hugs to you, June
Your scripture from Mathew's is certainly one that has time and time again proved itself unto me. I know personally when you clear your mind, your heart speaks volumes with Christ. I don't always do things in the right order, but I sure do hope the order can be judged on the end result & my comittment to it. :)
It truly is a lovely desk R.
Hi Rebecca,
What a beautiful treasure you found, and I am so looking forward to seeing the finished product.
Your thoughts today are so true, to know and understand Who directs our lives as you have is so inspiring to me. You will never know the lives you are impacting by sharing these truths, I especially was touched by your post yesterday, and again having your steps ordered by God and being obedient to the Holy Spirit,is also inspiring to me.
I always enjoy visiting and reading the thoughts that you have written.
Thank you for visiting and always being so encouraging.
Blessing
Sue
Hi Rebecca! Oh, I love that little writing desk! I know it will look marvelous all painted up and I can't waint to see your studio all done up!
Oh, I appreciate your sweet words. It's my mother we've been moving and she is a sweet lady! I think I've spoiled her though since she's been with us the last 8 months! I haven't let her do much and now she doesn't! LOL
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
~~Rebecca~~So glad I wasn't the one "bugging" you about putting up the picture THIS time! I did think, "it would have been nice to be able to see it", then poof, the next day there was a pic. So glad you showed us even if you hadn't given her her makeover yet. In due time...we can all be patient. Thinking of you today and hope you are taking some much needed rest and scenery outside. It's beautiful outside...well, at least here it is. Hoping God sends beautiful skys your way and love your new inventory. Alot more painted "goodies", which you love to do. I took a much needed break today and ducked into my fav antique mall to browse. It was fun, but came away with nothing for now....xxoo-Mary H.
