~PAUSING TO REMEMBER~

~Thoughts on a Sunday Morning~

When I was a wee little girl my beautiful Mother wrote the following inspirational poem.  Unlike my father who lived with a fountain pen in hand, my Mom didn't do too much writing.  Although I think she was very, very good I realize today the confines of working a full-time job while raising her family probably gave her little time for creative expression.  I couldn't have been more than nine or ten when she penned the short little verse I easily memorized the very day she read it to me aloud...

Ever since I've carried it's message in my heart.  I pray today it will bless you in a mighty way.

~REFUGE~

 "IN STRESS AND STRAIN
BY BODY WORN~
MY SOUL SEEMS ALL
BUT REJECTED AND TORN~
YET IN MY WEARINESS
HE GIVES ME REST
SENDS ME STRENGTH
TO ENDURE LIFE'S TEST~
AND WHEN I AM WEARY
AND TEMPTED TO FALL~
I PAUSE TO REMEMBER
THAT HE PAID IT ALL"

~Barbara Martin Elliott~
Love to you this beautiful Sunday...

Goodmorning R. I needed to see this today. Boy If I don't feel dragged through the coals sick. What a simple beautiful way to ask God for his Mercy to be placed on us. It's good to remind us we too must carry certain burdens in His name without knowing the why's we so often ask. Just hold onto faith. Hugs and blessed sunday. Tammy

Lovely words and so special since it was your mother who wrote them.

Just a note on the comment you left for me about the gourd and pumpking seeds. I didn't FREEZE them, I put them in one of the crisper drawers of our refrigerator.

My Dear Daughter--

What a surprise to find a poem I had written on your Blog. Thank you! Strange as seems, you may have the only copy of this poem in existance. I lost many of the ones I worte years ago.

It still holds true today -- I am still weary and worn, and much older, but my days are bright and full of promise.

I still look to the Lord for daily strenth. He is WONDERFUL and MARVELOUS. Yes-- That is what Jesus is too me.

Love you-- Mom
