~~~~~CAN YOU S'PLAIN IT TO ME, LUCY?~~~~~ I'm Needing Some Help Here
Dear Peeps~
OK...I got another message in my IN BOX about Blogger and all the changes going on with Google Friend Connect.
Here the quote from Google:
"Google Friend Connect—We're retiring the service for all non-Blogger sites on March 1, 2012."
I'm totally confused.  Are you?  If you are one of the peeps out there in the know and understand what (if anything) we are suppose to do about this (and what will happen if we do nothing!), will you PLEEZE explain it to this
mind ever changing,
can't figure it out,
starting to get nervous,
high-maintenance gal?
Thank You!!!!
Love to you~
Hi Rebecca... not sure, but I think it means if you have a Google account, but not a blog you can no longer connect through blogger... not sure... but I have followers who have a profile but when you click on it, it takes you nowhere???... xoxo Julie Marie
My understanding is that it won't effect those of us who have a "blogger" blog, but those that have a .com address or typepad, wordpress etc won't be able to use that as a gadget. I'm not techy so ultimately not sure how to "follow" one of these blogs unless you subscribe by email. and btw my blog list gadget is broken so I've had to start another list. Can we say "irritating" all together now?
Thanks for visiting and your cute pie story!... I can just see the two of you sitting on the floor eating pie!... (I would have been right there with you!)... I really think Debra is right as well... it only affects those not on blogger... I did not get an email with that info that you did??? xoxo Julie Marie
I think Debra is right too. But why can't they leave things alone? If they're going to take it away, then they should have arranged it so that people could keep their followers. I shouldn't lose mine according to what I'm understanding. Plus my email that I received didn't even mention this. But I have a blogger blog too. It's sad for these people that work so hard to build their followers to end up losing them all! Too much technical stuff for me!
Much love,
Sonya
Bec, I've been using Google Reader for a couple of years now and I like it MUCH better. I don't have that long list running down my sidebar. HOWEVER, in order to help transition some people over before they lose everything I have a tutorial on it on my sidebar. Come over to visit, click on the tulips icon on the right side and you'll see how easy it is. Always up to date and much more user friendly in my opinion. Google Reader, the alternative, sugar. I'm betting you'll like it.
Connie
Hi there, I get frustrated too at times-especially when you get emails from google saying you haven't used your email in a very long time so it will be discontinued-I use my email daily so I always delete the messages. I know there are lots of changes going on with Google, don't understand most of them. Debra's comment above seemed to clarify it. Wish they'd stop changing things, this old mind can't adjust that quickly.
Thank you for posting this! I am so turned around and confused by blogger issues, Picnik closing and my own computer problems, I get tempted to toss in the towel.
My understanding is that it doesn't affect those of us with Google's "Blogger" accounts. Hugs ~ Mary
Just another reason why I use my blog roll....I have no idea what they are talking about and I don't think there are any real people at blogger....it is just a computer!!
Hi sweet Rebecca, I have no answers but it looks like you had some real informative comments, I guess I'll just wait and see what happens but I imagine we will loose some followers. I happen to like my list on the sidebar and would not want to have to go into Google Reader just to read others, one too many steps for me.Hugs , love you, mean that! Marilou
Eeeeek, I don't like this and I'm of no help. I have put my head under the covers over this because I know very little...I would think that what the other ladies are saying is probably right but I am starting to not trust Google and what it is up to...too many changes too fast! Wish I could be more help, maybe we can all get together after this happens and try to work out any kinks that may come up. xo
Am I the only one but I am getting fed up with all of the changes going on out there. One minute it is blogs, then it is Twitter, facebook, LinkedIn and now Pinterest. Where is all the madness going to end. I cannot keep up with where I am supposed to be and what I should be doing. I spend all day on the computer now and feel like The Scream painting.
Everytime someone somewhere starts something new we are all supposed to jump on board. The problem is that I want to succeed but I want a life too, where is the happy medium.
So is it just me!!! Maureen....
Hi Rebecca, I am hoping it won't affect blogger blogs but I think it's all a wait and see kind of thing. btw...your kitchen sounds like it's going to be beautiful.
R, You should be fine being blogger is a google connected product. I think what is happening in cyber world is being brought on by all the sub or front line programs like twitter etc. People don't realize we can run out of space in cyber land.
I know this to be fact: If ain't broke and doesn't need painted, leave it alone. Let it work as is. I can't paint cyber space or the white house pink so leave our blogger, email, ebay, etsy, personal web sites alone.... ALONE. Hugs. T
Some of you are right, why do we have to have things changed every time, can it not stay as it is? Why are they doing this, I am so tiered of it myself and we have to jump when they say we have too, it is getting old. Enough is enough!
I just went to their website and they're retiring it for non-Bloggers, like wordpress or typepad, not Blogger. So no need to be afraid of losing your followers.
