~DESTINED FOR CHANGE~

~MY AUNT HELEN and UNCLE BOB~
 St. Louis, MO
Circa 1923

For those of you who visit me fairly regularly then I'm quite sure you'll notice right away that I've changed my blog layout and header.  More changes are still coming and eventually I hope to move back to a two column blog with room for larger pictures and links.  I've wanted to mix things up for a while now and today was finally the day to embrace new challenges and hopefully usher in fresh ideas for not only my own home but my blog and website as well...
~REFINED and LOVELY~
She Lived To Be Almost 100

I'm not sure what has come over me of late...  I've never been afraid of change even though I have a tendency to move a little slower than some of you may think. When I was a new bride my heart was set on decorating my home with all the latest and greatest Home Interiors Decor I could find afford.  By the mid 1980's I was fully ensconced in the country movement and not long after that I found myself embracing all things Laura Ashley and romantic.  Then came Rachel A. with her shabbied up cottage chic version of everything chippy, worn, vintage, painted and rosy.
It was love at first sight.
~ANTIQUE NECKLACE~
Romantic Anniversary Gift

Through all the trends and changes the one thing I continue to love the most are the soft white linens and laces I first laid my eyes on almost twenty-five years ago in the classic magazine, Victoria.  There was something almost ethereal about those timeless issues and I find I still refer back to them to this day.  I know many of you feel the same.  Today I'm content to take bits and pieces from every era of my decorating life and try work them into my ever evolving home...
 ~TEMPORARY STUDS ARE REMOVED~
Support Beam Installed

I plan on making similar design updates to my website later this weekend, so for those of you who are interested be watchful for changes coming there as well.  Nothing huge is planned, mind you.  I'm still going to sew pillows and sachets and paint hand painted roses, but I want to move away from some aspects of the business I feel are constantly keeping me unfocused.  I'm tired of doing the "same old-same old" and that is the reason behind the desire for change.  So, as I shared with you early last Fall I will be selling off some of my fabric in order to make room for where my heart, mind and spirit are hoping wanting to go.  I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get back to the fabric topic for those of you who've been waiting for more news.
(Thank you for being patient with me!)
~RAW OPENING~
Reading For Framing

That said, I will be offering lots of things on eBay as I work towards whittling down my studio-stock to a more manageable (and reasonable) amount. I have a link on my blog to my eBay site and hope to begin listing some things later tonight.
~SWEET VINTAGE SCONCES~
A Pair of Two Lights

Now...sometime back I picked up a sweet pair of antique sconces at an Estate Sale for $5.00 (for both).  I THINK I told you about them once before, can't remember! :(  Anyway, my Mr. AGPMan (aka:hubby) hung them up for me while he had the doorway opened (easier to get into the walls!) and I'm excited about having them hard-wired with a wall-switch.
 ~ALL WIRED UP~

No shades on these beauties...perfect just as they are!  Only thing missing were the candle covers!
~SIMPLY GORGEOUS~

I'm looking forward to a great weekend of tag sale shopping.  I'll let you know if I hit pay-dirt!
Love to you...

Oh Rebecca, I'm like a kid in a candy store...these updates are awesome! I'm hoping to maybe purchase some of your fabric...will be checking out your Etsy shoppe...then I'm SO excited to see I think we have the exact dining room suit. Did you distress/white wash your set? Mine is a lovely oak; but I really want the look yours has. Then; hardwiring a sconce, I didn't know one could do that... LOVE IT and will be checking in to doing that with some of mine. A SUPER idea!

I love your posts! I always take away enthusiasm when I leave...

Blessings to you on your antique/junking extravaganza...they are THE BEST! :)

Hugs & Blessings Friend,
~CC

As I get older I don't feel like changing anything. I mean the big stuff.... Like rearranging a room. I sometimes feel like Ole' Winny-the-Pooh "Oh Bother"!!
I think I have lost my muse or at least missplaced it!!
Love the new Blog look so far ! !
Have a Great Day!

Change is always good. I noticed when I turned 50 that I was loosing interest in things that I had been obsessed with for years and becoming interested in other things. I felt I was evolving as I hit my 50's and still feel it as I head toward my 59th year. I love how your doorway opening is coming along! ~Hugs, Patti

Hello Rebecca,
I lurve your new header; it is truly soothing and beautiful! Change can be wonderfully exhilarating!!
I found new "candle" covers at Home Depot and Lowes...a pack of 6 was less tahn $10. They are stark white, but can be aged with your "cottage white " paint.

I have a love for lace too.I just can't get away from it.But I do like change.I always go back to vintage things.I won't ever change that. But it is good to change things around a bit. That is why I scaled down on my Roses.Or they would have taken over my house. Now they are just an accent.I will be make some changes soon too.I can't wait to see what changes you are making.

R, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new look. I embrace your pinks too but this is dreamy! Clean & very nicely presented. I'm loving it. I too have been going through some changes and I don't like change one bit, nope, I really dislike it very much. But, I'm forcing myself to trust the inner voice that keeps screaming in my brain during my dream state. So change is gonna come!! I love it. Hugs. T

I've been Victoria magazine fan since it was first published in 80s and missed it when it stopped being published for awhile. Victoria has influenced my decorating aesthetic.
Best wishes to your family in a smooth building project

Dearest Rebecca,

Well, the two column blog might improve a lot. Since both of us have conducted so many seminars with lots of slides and such, we know about the importance of visual things. Better one good picture in the right size than a page which is over-populated with lots of small images. For the aging readers (yes, me included!) size is becoming more of an issue too. So go for it and we're looking forward to the end result. Often Less is More.
You didn't mention your aunt's blood link, paternal or maternal... but she lived till a blessed high age! Yesterday when Pieter and I had a check up at the doctor's office there was a 100-year old black lady in front of us. She only used a cane, for the rest she was just fine. A pleasure coming across that once in a while. And yes, it tells us that we ought to chance a few more times our blog's back ground before that...
Love to you,

Mariette

I love your new look and am anxious to see where you take it. Any change is always a bit scary to me...especially when I know that it is going to be further reaching than I initally thought it would be.

God bless you as you head towards your goal that you feel you are being called into. I think that no matter WHAT you do you will find great success because you put your heart and soul into everything you do! Love to you, sweet Rebecca! xo Diana
