~LOVING LIFE IN SPITE OF THE STORMS~

~JUST OUTSIDE MY FRONT DOOR~
As the Storm Blew In

The Winter Storm of January 2010 hit as expected. There are literally thousands of people in the State of Oklahoma without electricity... Extreme weather conditions as a whole don't usually frighten me. But, after seeing the numerous photos of destruction plastered across our television screen I again have a new-found respect when our local Meteorologists say...

"If you don't have to get out in this mess, then DON'T! STAY HOME!"

Downed power lines and 100 year old trees split into two or three chunks can make you think twice about driving to the grocery store because you're out of Diet Coke...

Truthfully, I hate the mess that Winter sometimes brings...

~THE SPRING RAINS OF 2009~
I'm Longing For GREEN

But...I promised myself this year that I would try the best I could to enjoy every day of the life God has given me. I vowed not to rush through my allotted hours, but rather breathe them in while making each day count. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall. I'm blessed and I know it. No matter what season I find myself in, life in my La Chaumière de Briarwood is good.

Even so, I can't help but be a bit excited that Spring is just around the corner...

"Look, the winter is past, and the rains are over and gone. The flowers are springing up, the season of singing birds has come, and the cooing of turtledoves fills the air. (Song of Solomon 2:11-12, NLT)"

Blessings...

Yes I heard how bad you guys got hit there.Sadly the worst part is the electricity outage. We had alot of big ones here earlier, but we never had power outages in this bitter cold.

Take care and keep warm Rebecca,I hope you weekend is a bit better.I cant wait til spring as well.

I too went into this winter season determined to not complain about it & try to enjoy it but I fear I have failed miserably. I do not like winter....the struggle, DH on the road constantly in it & the heating bills. As I get older I full understand why people retire to warm climates!!
Have a Great Day!

I'm longing for green too Rebecca.

When the weather is like this though, you just have to go with it. Yesterday I made stew and chocolate cake. Took a nap in the afternoon. Watched a lot of weather.

We are supposed to fly to Chicago today. We'll see what happens. I'm just so incredibly grateful that we didn't lose our power.

Oh Rebecca......I've thought of you so often when I've seen and heard the weather reports in your area.

It's cold and rainy here, but no snow. I love looking at the spring and winter picture outside your front door, both are so pretty.

Since you're trapped inside, this should be good sewing and painting weather on your beautiful art work ......

Stay safe ... you are loved!

Hello from Kansas!
Woke up this morning with snow dusted across the ground. Don't think in my part of Kansas that we have received as much snow/ice as you in Oklahoma. One of my sons and family live near Oklahoma City and they have alot of ice.

I comfort myself these days by saying we are one day closer to Spring. I actually say this before Winter ever hits! Haha.

God Bless you and hope things are going well.

Be content in whatever state you are in........there's no reason not to look forward to the next season though. Do be safe and warm.

Stay warm, precious girl! Don't go out in that cold and know we are thinking warm thoughts and sending them with love your way. You are so right, I am going to try and slow down today and enjoy this day the Lord has made. He is SO good!

XO,

Sheila :-)

This has been the first year I can remember when I have not been TRULY warm since October.

I don't know when I got old - but it has certainly hit me like a ton o' bricks. I used to tease my mom and dad about retiring to Myrtle Beach just because it was warm.

Now I may buy the house next door.

I can see why you want spring to come...try to stay warm and safe!

Hope you are staying warm and safe! Just think of the weather as God's way of giving you extra stitching time before the need to go out in your gardens in the spring!

Oh my, so much snow. When I heard of the storm Oklahoma was getting I thought of you and some of the other Okie bloggers. This is certainly the time for you guys to get indoor work accomplished...hopefully, the electricity stays on.
Your creations are absolutely beautiful. Rebecca you are so blessed with talent:-)
